Love it. I run a BBSHD asi 855 72V on a Diamondback mission pro full suspension and it just rips. Chainline is always the biggest challenge with these bikes.
Any way to get a motor on the opposite side? Also of you let the air out of the front shock does it hit the battery? My Niner WFO E9 has been in the shop for a while. Still getting the run around. I ordered a decoy last week, but it wont be here till January. Looks like neither bike is gonna be around soon so debating on converting my Enduro. But all the builds have the motor hanging down and I hit my chainring at times on some of my obstacles. So for my purpose the motor cant be hanging down.
Do you have a video of a conversion of a touring bike? I have a Surly Disc Trucker I thought would make a great ebike. The setup you did here looks really good. Thx!
I have my controller mounted there, moved it 2 times, finally let the air our of shock, and got it right, I would bet money 💰 half way through the compression its going to hit, check out the sag rubber band, halfway. You're good until you ride it hard, sounds like thidddd, battery pack might just get nocked off, hope he can make it happen, I have also pondered same thing because down hill bikes have minimal spots to mount one
Great build Johnny. It seems a lot running the BBS02 at 25 amps on a 52 v battery. Do you get many controller failures at 25 amps? I run mine at 20a on a 48 v battery. Fine so far 2000 miles in.
Yes pedal assist not torque sensing I have the same setup on my 29” I built I had to use the Lekkie chainring for alignment never had the chain come off bike fly’s with a 48volt 17ah battery
@@fakemagic105 My bike that was stolen almost two years before I got into Ebike conversions was a Giant. Would have been great for converting with any motor. Hub or Mid Drive.
You will Crush the Bottom Bracket of a Carbon Fiber bike if there is no Metal Sleeve there when you tighten the Motor Securing nut. A Road bike that light should be left alone and enjoyed as a pedal bike. You spent too much money on a nice bike to add 16 lbs for the motor and battery. You're better off converting a Metal Mountain bike with disc brakes for Crash durability and ease of install. 750 Watts = 1 hp, a Bafang motor can do @ 1400 Watts Peak. The average human generates around 250 Watts. That heavier bike will be fast enough.
Ok, I’m sure this question has been asked and I’m sure I already know the answer to it. Yet, I still wanna know if it could be done. If you have two E motors that are similar in output. One being a mid drive and one being a front hub drive. Can they work together on one bike at the same time. One pushes and the other pulls. I know they will differences between the two, but dang that would be awesome to see if it could be done.

Hello Mark. Do you use the gears correctly? I run a BBS02 and BBSHD and zero issues on motor or bike parts. I'm not saying you dont use the gears but just find it odd all the issues you are having with the motor and the drive components.
@@JohnSmith-ch9lp Hi John,I have a gear sensor fitted but still partially operate the rear break to cut the power momentarily while I change gear . I'm a heavier rider 120 kg ,my route is hilly ,so the drive train is under stress,I start out on power level one and only ride upto level three. Most cyclists only ever put out 250 to 350 watts, the m625 goes upto 1450 peak, that extra power is accelerating wear.
@@markmiller5577 OK Mark, thanks for that. I programmed both my motors with the programming cable so that power came in more gently. However the M625 is the 'new' BBSHD and I dont think as yet they can be programmed. Maybe being a heavier rider will put more strain on the motor (particularly uphill) and drive train (I'm 80kilos). I operate mine generally in the 100-500 watt range and very very occasionally (rarely) up to 1000w so maybe my ride style is easier. I make full use of the gears and sort of ride (gear change wise) as if it didnt have a motor. Anyway hopefully things settle down and it all comes a little more reliable. Regards.
@@JohnSmith-ch9lp Hi John,I always pedal to help the motor , unfortunately the bike is going on sale,I absolutely love it ,I just can not spend more time repairing it than riding it .
You crush the Bottom Bracket on a CF bike when you tighten the motor mounting nut. People can epoxy a hard metal sleeve there, but it may not fit thru existing hole. Easier to work with a metal bike and it should handle a crash better than CF.
Johnny, I posted on your forum but I'm not sure if that is the best way to contact you short of a consultation. BUT... if you say you can help me I will pay the consult fee and have you build my project. I would like a 750w ebike with one complicated adaptation. I want to be able to charge the bike with a generator while riding. Possible secondary choice would be a second battery or charging setup that allows me to swap between 2 batteries. I will be building a lightweight bike trailer and a small generator could easily fit on there. I want to go loooong distances. Cross country. I have seen solar setups. A generator should be doable. Please help me.
I don’t think so, unless they’re replacing it with something slightly updated, either way you can still find bbshd kits everywhere and I doubt they’ll be oos anytime soon
It's not getting discontinued any time soon. Super foolish business decision from Bafang. He's discussed this in live streams. 02 and HD are top selling conversion kits from Bafang.

Great build Johnny. Just wondering what year this frame is?
Hi johnny, do you think a conversion is possible with the current specialized dnduro ?
What's the ground clearance in inches there, to the BBS02?
Is it a good idea to replace the front fork on a bike to get more battery clearance like what this bike already has?
It definitely can be. It ultimately depends on what the rider is going for. Might be better to find a more suitable frame.
What year is the Specialized Enduro?
Pretty sure the front wheel will hit the battery in full compression
Yeah, he needs to test it with the air removed from the fork and fully compress it.
I'm damn sure he knows wtf he's talking about.
About 99.999% positive but not during regular street riding
