Hey bud! Best tip anyone could give you right here! Shimano actually has the best customer service in the game, there’s just a simple trick to it. For 25$ you can send in your reel for maintenance for absolutely ANYTHING including those reel handles. They take the entire reel apart and replace everything that is damaged and send it back to you. If the reel is past the point of repair they will send you a brand new reel unless you specifically ask them not to replace it (like with the 200e). If you go to my Instagram I have a receipt from Shimano where they literally replaced half my 50e parts and sent it back to me for the simple 25$ maintenance fee with no charge for parts. This is for the entire life of the reel, without needing to have the receipt, proof of purchase, or any kind of extended warranty. This is why I’m Shimano only for the most part, no other company does this. That’s why they don’t spend a lot on sponsorships! They give back to there customers.
I used Shimano's going back when they first came out with the first Bantam series in the mid '70's, and continued using Shimano up until 2008. ( The terrible recession of '08 forced me to liquidate everything, including my nice bass boat that I owned outright, all to save our home. ) Got back into bass fishing in June of 2016. I decided to give the better grades of Lew's reels a try from Korea. ( Always wanted the very early BB1's from Shimano AND Ryobi back in the day, but couldn't afford them as a young man. So I kept with Shimano. ) Bought 2 first run BB1 Pro's, 2 Super Duty's, and 2 Pro G's. ( I register all my reels through Lew's as soon as I get them. ) Loved em so much, I've since bought 2 more of the original Pro G's, before they quit making them, for 8 reels total among the 3 models. One of my Pro G's I bought originally, gave me the ONLY problem I've ever had with any of my Lew's stuff, and it was OUT of warranty. This was several months ago. Spoke in person on the phone to Lew's and sent it to them, expecting a request for some kind of fee or bill similar to yours to fix it. Even though the reel was OUT of warranty, they called me back & said their clutch bearings on these models are so good, it should NOT have failed, even out of warranty. He said it had to have a factory defect, that finally reared its ugly head. So they replaced it, serviced the entire reel & had ALREADY shipped it back out to me, FREE OF CHARGE, NO shipping cost either. I swear, 6 days AFTER I sent it to them ( and I live in central Florida ) I had my Pro G back in my hands. Couldn't believe it. I usually fish at least twice a week, all day. These reels have taken a real beating. No other problems yet, after over 3 yrs. I'm impressed.....to say the least. They work as good as the day they were new. I avoid buying their Chinese made reels......only the Korean reels for this ole boy. To each his own......just wanted to share my great experience with Lew's.
from someone who works on reels full time for a living, the Curado E series were SOLID reels.. The best I dont think so, but VERY solid for the price and wish they would bring it back.. Problem is shimanos parts are a Pain to get on discontinued reels since most parts come from over seas..
I've been looking for some oversized handles for a few of my lews reels. The ones that come on the Tournament MP reels will chew you're knuckles up because the knobs are slick and the handles have just enough bow in them to catch your knuckles on hever hook set. Glad you did a review of them it makes it easier to spend my money.
Great video Mikey! Your correct about the shimano curado! Great reel and are very durable. Your combo is pimped out now. Looks great, keep up the nice tips! Ballz out!
If you haven’t already, give the K a try. I’m a big shimano guy and love the high end stuff but the curados that came out after the e7 were bad compared to the originals and the K changed that. They haven’t been time tested like the e7 yet but other than that they have that same durable feel
Great job as always I'm at g this week first Time ever been hunting a place like you were fishing in this video huge lake for first time just wondering what part of the lake it was at tomorrow is my last day tight lines bud great channel
The one benefit to using a metal factory replacement is that the carbon fiber handles break easier if you’re like me at some point you’re going to step on one or shut one in a locker, the carbon just doesn’t hold up like the metal will, maybe I’m just ruff on my stuff but that’s my experience. with that being said I would 100% buy one from your buddy and not shimano if he offered a metal version
@Bennybass i agree homie, all around and their prices are for any kind of fisherman the performance ive had with daiwa for the past year has been excellent.
I've got a older Shimano Beastmaster spinning reel the knob on the handle is wearing out it's riveted if I drill I'll out I can't find a replacement would like to put one of the Lew's wind grip but all I can find is the barefoot knob help anyone to good of a reel to lay to the side
Sorry, but what have you had to do with those old Quantum Energy's that I see you fish with all the Time? I dont see a old Shimano in your hand when it means the most! Lol, just saying
We’ll have to agree to disagree. The original Curado (CU-200, no alpha), the “original greenies”, are the best reel ever made. I have a bunch of them that are almost 30 years old, and they are all in perfect working order, after years of use and abuse! The only thing that I have done recently was added some Boca Bearings to them.
I use to clean reels as a side thing and this is where I order most of my Shimano parts. I’m gonna say it’s gonna cost u around $20 to get two knob shipped. Super easy to replace as well. www.ereplacementparts.com/shimano-ch200e5-chronarch-baitcast-reel-parts-c-200301_200303_200331.html
Never seen a rat or other varmint chew up a reel handle before. Damn. No surprise though.....HEY, YA BETTER check the wiring in your house, boat, AND vehicles Brother! I do know rats and even squirrels cause house fires & vehicle damage from chewing up wiring & other shit. Little bastards.
Great information, how much did the knee board weigh?????
Free pounds 😁

Lews has great customer service.
You could have just bought the knobs. I've replaced all of my E7's knobs, a set runs about $13 straight from shimano I believe.
Sweet handle. I love my Corrado E’s need to get some new handles.

I agree, I have a Curado 200 E7 and I havent had a new reel that lived up to it yet!!
Handle looks great I will definitely check them out.
Man, I think the new curado k is epic...but I agree man-200e has stood the test of time!
Best reel ever. Wish they’d make them again. Using Daiwa tatulas now pretty happy with them.
Mikey...I think that's my wakeboard!...lol. Laughing at you dropping the little screw 4 times. I feel yuh. Good info. Thanks
very nice looking handle. Look at Mikey going matchy-matchy.
Agreed, best reel ever made. Built like a tank and made in Japan.
Cool handle but I couldn't help but notice the creature bait. What is that and the color if you dont mind me asking?
Bizz Baits use to use that mold. I'd be interested in finding out who that one is by
Sure it's made by Gambler

You like the old e's better than the k? I love both but the k is most definitely a more refined reel. I find the slx to be very similar.
Do you change your bearings out with hawk tech as well?
First reply! Great video Mike! I do a lot of repairs and modifications on all my stuff myself.
Best ever made could not agree more.
Great vid Mikey 👍be sure to pick me up some

Hey cool vid. Do you know if these handles will fit the old shimano Curado? Like the old super free and the old original curado
pretty sure they do - shoot them a message www.hawgtech.com
@@mikeybalzz okay thank you
They had these at cabelas onlune for 119 way back wen the crappy curado200u came out I shoulda bought 5 only got 1 more I have 2 200e
Dude those Curado’s are like old Honda Accords of the 90’s. They last forever.
Perfect analogy!
Mikey are you using straight braid when you punch? Or are you using a leader?
You know you can just replace the knobs off the handle, right ?
Ive been stuck in daiwa products lately the cr80. Oh yeah i really do need that halo rod
@Bennybass i agree homie, all around and their prices are for any kind of fisherman the performance ive had with daiwa for the past year has been excellent.
Is this similar to the curado bantam ?
I have two 300e love them
love the curado e7 it is the best reel ever made
Back when a curado cost $120. I still have the old school light green ones, and even a red one.
I've got a older Shimano Beastmaster spinning reel the knob on the handle is wearing out it's riveted if I drill I'll out I can't find a replacement would like to put one of the Lew's wind grip but all I can find is the barefoot knob help anyone to good of a reel to lay to the side

mikey are you sure Bog the Dog didn't use your reel handle as a toy, while you were fishing?
Sweet knee board!
Check out ZPI and Hedge Hog reel accessories. Very pricey though.
I will check out hog tech thanks.
It matches the seat also haha
how much do you think i could sell a brand new one for?

What specifically broke on the 200E7's?
This was a while back but I believe one of the knobs on the handle broke off
I can't believe you did lose that screw away dropping it that many times 🤣😂
There's diffidently a nut in this video. LOL Sorry man I just had to. Great product and awesome quality. Those mean greens are the best ever made.
Nothing like a bonus knee board.......lmao

Just bought one for 90 last night
Could’ve replaced just the knobs for $9.99 at The Tackle Trap in Boaz, less than 20 minutes from Spring Creek
tackle trap is not a shimano dealer anymore.
Flatzout Correct, but we still carry a LARGE selection of Shimano parts to repair reels.
good to know. glad y'all are still gonna stock parts , thanks.
Just replace the knobs... the handle is still in good condition!
That hole set up looks nasty bro! Funny woman color match there clothes. Dude we color match our fishing setups lmao!
Haha so true but love it.
