Thanks a lot for this guide. Dain's Fixes is another important mod that fixes a bunch of significant bugs, like with Dual Striking, Cone of Cold, and attack speed buffs. Keep in mind it also includes several other tweaks to the game, but you can remove whatever parts you don't like.
I'm starting to play DAO for the first time ever. I knew I wanted to make a few modifications and get a few tips since it's an older game, and your guides are the most accessible and immediately helpful in figuring out where to start and demystifying the modding and setup process. Thanks for these!
Weng thank you so much! It's always such a headache to try to figure out how modding works with different games, I think I would've given up on DAO mods if I hadn't found your vids. I appreciate you!
Well, DAO Ultimate was on sale for $5.99 and I scooped it up. Haven't started it yet and I'm trying to fix as much as I can before I do. Wish me luck lol.
You are a lifesaver mate. I’m trying this game for the first time and loving it. I may be 12 years too late but is there a way to tweak the camera movement? I want some freedom in movement since I have to hold the right click to turn and look around. Which is annoying for a game so focused on storytelling. Would be a big help :)
i installed qudao but when i boot up the game it says missing requirements (it needs to be version 1.05 i think) and the mod is disabled, how do i enable it?
me: i dont wanna mod but I'll look at wh.... * hears about 4gb patch preventing crashes on recent systems * * installs it * me 3 minutes later: BRING ME SOME MODS BABY!!!!!
Hopefully, your modding was successfull^^. I had installed many mods before I installed the patch and you can possibly think, it was´nt the best idea. Denerim was a mess, regarding chrashes :D
in my opinions the best mods of all is The Winter Forge Mod, Improved Atmosphere and the Loot and Gamebalance Revision mod seriously guys i can't play without these mods!
IA is buggy mess. Tons of gears, ridiculous gold, naked NPCs or even missing body altogether and the game becomes way too easy even on nightmare. Not to mention, lots of other mods are incompatible. Not worth the hassale imo
After going through this guide, I can't even load into the game. :/ EDIT: Figured it out. It was an issue with the JB3 file. Not sure what, don't care. Just hoping this fixes the crashes and shit. Still have Quinn's Fix installed. EDIT 2: Not one single crash since this mod was installed. Thank you!!!!
Weng! Thanks for this great guide. I am only going to play the game with the mods you suggested, scared to mess around with anything else. If you have anymore mod suggestions, please let us know! Regards!
The biggest issue that dragon age origins is that the combat is nothing like in inquisition and veilguard… isn’t there a mod for this game that completely changes how combat works and PS5 prompts?
@@Striiderrr nope I just kinda gave up. Might try it again now you’ve got me thinking about the game again. Did you install to main hardrive or a secondary?

@@autumn340 i have had terrible luck trying to install mods manually. None of them work. Vortex is ok but I can't install too many before most of them simply don't work. Im playing DAO ultimate on steam. Im not sure if thats what's causing it all.
I love how people say bethesda games are unplayable without mods when this game literally cant even launch without modding it....this game is an case of how not to port your game to steam its that attrocious.
Its been almost a decade since release and for some reason I cant stop playing this game
Thanks a lot for this guide.

Thank the Maker I found your video. I was struggling trying to set up these mods. Thanks for taking the time out and making this vid.
4gb patch fixed all my crashing issues thank you!
Glad this worked for you!
Awesome bro, Ultimate Edition was on sale for $8 so I just bought it. Can't wait to do this and thanks for the tutorial, super easy to follow.

Just started my first playthrough of DA:O yesterday, would it be alright to install Qwinn's Fixpack mid-playthrough? or shall I start a new game?
Thanks! what's the best hair mod?

Very helpful video, thank you :) First time I've modded a game.
I keep getting an error when I try updating my game with Qwinns mod
Try starting the game once. And install the files in the redist folder. It worked for me

thanks for the video!
Is it okay to use Vortex for Qwinn's fixpack?
Why is skipping a 5 seconds intro a "must have" mod ? o.O
Anyone have problems with promo dlc not being detected and you can't load your save file without it?
question anyone knows how to change the armor you get when you start a character?
when i try to install, it says error. Text file not generated see ... for the fixes. Update it worked when i made a new folder
I know this was 3 years ago, but could you explain what you did to install the mods?
i love u Weng
Fuck Improved Atmosphere mod. Its a buggy mess.
Error on the install status on Qwinn's. what do I do now?
Ignore it. This is a well known issue with the fixpack that ultimately doesn't have any effect on your game

dont install overrides manually that is bad advice.
use this instead www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/277?tab=files
It still boggles me how people will install mods manually that are supported by Vortex.
So NExus takes care of the mods automatically or...
Am i the only person on this planet that doesn't have an override folder?!
You must have it. It’s in your documents/BioWare/packages/override
