- Finally some sunny warm weather moves in over the East coast and Thames Estuary. Light winds probably not the best for making longer passages however enjoyable all the same.
I carry out some emergency inflatable dinghy repairs then make round to the River Stour for an overnight anchorage and checkout a stretch of the river bank while watching the sun go down.

Mate...I'm in Paris but I keep a 68 year old Laurent Giles "Brittany Class" design in Sydney, Australia. 34 foot cutter rig. Out of full-length Beech planks. Screwed and plugged. Bronze floors. Cruised the Pacific several times. Competed in three Sydney-Hobart Yacht Races. Enjoying your vids!
@@MalcolmLambe thanks for watching, would love to do a sydney hobart race 👌
For my dinghy repairs I keep some cut bicycle inner tube onboard and also use superglue - I’ve had temporary patches stay on a couple of years !
The Stour's a lovely broad river and, considering the industry downstream, very quiet. Beautiful pictures!
Enjoying your videos. Goodness me, solo sailing is exhausting. Impressed by your calm demeanor, which must be the difference between those sailing and us watching.
Working with a limited budget but using modern tech for safety will be inspiring for those looking to get into sailing.
A fellow ytube sailor uses weatherfax via radio to 'print' basic free weather maps onto his 10 year old ipad, which has been a highlight.
Yes i do have a weatherfax decoder but im only doing short trips cirrently and a three day windy firecast is usually sufficient. I screen record the weather for the days ahead before setting off which helps.
0:00 Spirit Yacht, made in Ipswich. Their electrician told me that the table alone in the saloon costs £25,000!!! All the wood panels inside the boat have aligned wood grain between them, and the electronics is unbilievable.
That dinghy is truly classic. Miles left. Super glue and bicarbonate soda are great for many fixes..hacks online.
Great vid again Sam, good to see you back.
I’m coming up the east coast this summer for a cruise.
Fair winds..⛵️
Patches have held up so far
Nice one Sam...I sailed the Plymouth to Treburdan race a couple of times when I lived in Devon. My friend had a Vargne?? 27. Great fun.
Thanks for the film.
A spirit from up the river
Nice sunset beach party!
Thank you for the video. Very much enjoyed the seascapes at sunset - reminded me of Turner’s paintings. Hope the boat sale goes well. Best regards, Phil, Suffolk. 🇬🇧
Thanks for watching 👍
Good luck with the sale.
When you get to the Bahamas you won't have to worry about oyster shells on the beach❤
Looks like a good spot for bbq and few 🍺
Absolutely!
Nothing quite like just messing about on a boat on one of our beautiful East Coast rivers. I was down Kirby Creek a couple of Sundays ago and clocked those stakes you mentioned. Was that Erwarton Bay you were in Sam?
Hi, this was in Copperas Bay, along the 2m contour. Yeah thosr stakes are nasty thanks for pointing out the others 👍
Did u sell her OK in the end
Yes Katrina has now been sold
Where about's is this. I am relocating to the Norfolk/Suffolk coast and hope to get a sailing boat. It looks really nice.
Hi, this is on the rivers Orwell and Stour
Hi Sam, have you now sold Katrina? Great vids btw
Yes Katrina has been sold
I always think that carbon sails, as good as they are, are a great way to ruin the aesthetic of a boat.
Its a lovely boat, I agree black wouldn't be my first choice colour sail
