Today on Jon's Moto Garage we're bringing you another episode of "Jackie Tries!" This is where my beautiful wife, Jackie, tries riding new motorcycles. A bit of background: she's not a seasoned rider. In fact, the extent of her riding experience has taken place among the few episodes she's had on Jon's Moto Garage. However, she's a fast learner and very capable. I wouldn't have her try anything I didn't think was within her ability. Today she's giving it a shot on the Honda Goldwing F6B! This motorcycle weighs in at nearly 1000 pounds! It's no lightweight! Let's see how Jackie does!

Watching your boy put his leg up on the seat was cool for me. My 6yo is getting interested in bikes, hoping to keep riding safe and affordably enough to stay up and share it with him in 10 years and beyond. Happy Mothers Day to Jackie.

Congrats! I can understand her trepidation. I bought a GW in '97 after riding for a couple decades and I was afraid to take it on the highway on the ride home. It didn't take long to get used to it, but it was intimidating to ride it out of their parking lot for the first time. They are enormous.
Get her a DCT for her post delivery gift.
Yeah, the goldwing is a beast! The DCT is a good idea! I've actually found a handful for pretty cheap in the area. Not a bad idea!

A pretty recent subscriber but father of four grown sons myself. You got yourself a real project, friend. Congratulations. Your clock bait made me think she was learning to wheelie. Maybe next year. Remember: 1) if it doesnt get kids killed or put in prison, support it 2) never have a fatherless kid 3) the craziest thing you ever did is a jumping board for kids. They are incredible potential energy. Everything is a memory, make 'em good ones.

I actually bought my first bike...and its a 1200cc Honda Goldwing gI1200 rat bike. I won't lie, at first they're very intimidating and I was told by many that this was an insane starter bike. But actually its not that bad. You really dont feel the weight when it starts going. Im already cornering, learning throttle control, and can ride around my neighborhood and town perfectly fine. The thing is from what I learned from others, you really gotta respect the machine. No way imma be speeding on a goldwing...and thats okay. It's just about the ride. And honestly for a first bike, I couldnt be happier. It's really not that bad once you get used to it. Took me two days. I am in love and can't wait to ride it more
You hit the nail on the head! You have to respect the machine! Even on a Bird scooter, you can get yourself seriously injured, or killed, if you don't know what you're doing. I'm glad the gl1200 rat bike worked out for you as a first ride!

Yes. I taught a chick how to ride on an old naked Goldwing - only 1100cc version but still a 12.5 sec bike. Low center of gravity made it easy for her. She dropped it a couple of times but she & the bike we're fine because of the crash bars. Goldwings are good beginner bikes for non-idiots.
Nice! With the right gear and no baby on board, I'm confident Jackie could've pulled it off. However, this was just our idea for announcing her pregnancy. Lol. Thanks for watching!

I had one Jackie (not a baby..lol) same year and color, the seat was just too wide, and a bit too tall for me (much due to the top heavy nature, and I couldn't seem to get used to that frame mounted fairing) .placing feet down in pot holes and/or loose gravel was potentially hazardous for me...I took it in and traded back for an new but same bike I just sold. If that bike had electronic cruise control, I would have tolerated it.. a good bike for all day rides though.
Yeah I think I'd much rather be a passenger on a Goldwing for now and stick to riding the drz!

Hold the clutch in no matter what. Doesn't matter if the bike is a Kawasaki Ninja 300 or a Honda 600 CBR 600RR or a 800 pound Harley.

Crazy thing is it's still the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. Lol. I've never tried the touring goldwing.

Thanks, brotha! At 5'8", the goldwing f6b doesn't feel bad at all. I think you would do just fine. My wife is about 5'4" and she was still able to stand flat footed.
