I was about to post a silly comment about being hypnotized by the swirls and then I found out my aunt passed away. Thank you for being a soothing voice in my ears while I process this. The soap looks absolutely lovely as always
The beginning of the video and your explanation and photo of the design you were going to do I thought about using velco. It never occurred to me to use double-sided tape. Wonderful video and very creative technique. I just might try it. Thank you for the experiments and demonstration and also thank you to the creator of this technique, Diane of Seifenimglueck!
So satisfying!! I think if you used a larger turntable you would be able to exert more force and possibly get the swirl to move towards the centre. It would be an interesting experiment!
The founder from this design is Frl.Winter... 1 - 2 yrs ago. I think she calls it Lollipop Swirl. But the technique is different. So same soap - different way to go... Great how you did... i like a lot and will try it too... its pritty easy for how it looks! Greetings from Styria in Austria Hedda
Hi Heidi. Fraulein Winter didn't create this design I'm afraid, It was definitely Diane. Also, she did not create the Lollipop swirl, that was created by Mater Sam. Fraulein Winter has done videos with both of these techniques in them, but she was not the creator of the techniques.
THANK YOU! I tried this and was cursed with beginner’s luck - then tried it several more times and fell flat every time. I don’t have a banding wheel so I’m just using a lazy susan - now that I see your technique I’m going to try again!
What a mesmerizing technique! I don't think I'd be able to stop spinning it cuz it's just so fun to watch haha I'd end up with a solid pink soap by the end
@@IDreamInSoap I hope your sells have been great! You've been making videos for so long about time you can do this hobby you love so much and it's not such an expense yet a profit. Still curious if I buy a whole batch from you if you'd do a custom order? I don't think I seen you ever say. It's a suggestion for your web site.
@@KyleenDrake Hi Kyleen, that you so much, yes things are goingvery well and I now run I dream In Soap as my full time on. I can make custom orders, please send me an email if you would like to discuss. info@idreaminsoap.co.uk
Anyone else find themselves thinking they were falling into the Magician's big hat in Lidsville? I had to look away as I was being pulled to my pc screen! Had this soap been black and white, I don't think I would have recovered. Hahahahaha! Beautiful as usual, Lisa! I have to try this, although...I don't have a spiny wheel...I wonder if my hubby's spiny welder's stool will work 🤔 I'll keep ya posted! Thank you for sharing another fantastic video and technique! I will be checking out this crafter's videos! I adore seeing all the beautiful soaps you make! 🤓🧡💛💙💜❤
Morning Lisa .. I too was taken by this technique after seeing Di put these on Tree Marie and I watched the you tube video .. it’s on my to do list … so many many thanks as always for answering some questions I had been mulling on .. love your soaps and the colour combo ❣️❣️🍄🍄🐝🧼🧼
Enjoyed watching how you determined which was the best way to with this design. Any of them would be lovely but the final attempt was exceptional! Thank you!
I’ve had a rotten week this week……..so what more could I want than your relaxing videos to watch. You are so talented, and all your soaps are like individual pieces of art. The love and attention you put in to each soap is wonderful to watch. The music is lovely too. Thank you so much for cheering me up, another amazing video. I never knew how interesting soap making could be. Have a lovely week Lisa 💖❤️💖
Hi Lisa! This is a fascinating soaping technique to try! I gave it a “whirl” myself last night, using my slow moving soap formulation, split the batter in half, added TD and a purple mica accordingly to obtain my 2 colours. And a lavender fragrance oil. The double sided tape is a genius idea ( thanks kindly Lisa !) that worked very well for me on my el-cheapo lazy-susan. I sealed the top of my acrylic mold with some plastic wrap just in case the batter went flying out the top when I set to spinning. I tried spinning in short bursts rather than a long spin. A long spin just had the batter and mold moving together at the same speed. I noticed the purple batter easily moved around the outer inside surface to cover the entire mold circumference. The mold gave me a clear sight of what was happening, and I realised I was developing the shear force required to get the batter moving and flowing against the inner mold surface thereby creating a nice thin line spiral effect. I cut the soap this morning I found I had very nice thin rings on the outer portion of the soap, like rings of Saturn, but almost no movement on the inner part. Basically, the inner batter had sat there. I will try again today and see what happens with a slightly thicker batter and get the inner design development. Meanwhile, I am rather pleased with my first effort! It’s a very fun technique! Thanks again Lisa for your inspiration! Cheers mike.
Hey Mike, thanks for sharing your findings, I agree with you, I think the long spin just gets it all rotating together, it does seem to need little thrusts
@@IDreamInSoap Hi again Lisa. I made a second test tonight, this time using a clear plastic sheet as an insert in the mold, to give me a very nice “Yin-Yang" separation/shape in the centre. It was rather easy to carefully pull the sheet out and then give a few short sharp spins and job done! Much better centre spiral result vs my first test! All good fun! Thanks again! Cheers mike
Lisa, you are amazing, your channel is amazing, and I always learn a lot from you. I have been a soapmaker for 19 years and I heave learned more from your channel than most of my years of soaping. You are a tremendous inspiration!!👋
A great idea. I've tried this before in a large square shape, but never thought of trying it in a round shape. Thank you for this inspiration. Happy Easter! Greetings Monika
These are lovely- really giving me a nostalgic moment making me think of those ice cream rolls with jam inside that my Grandma bought us as children. Pretty soap, happy memory ❤️
It is a lovely red isn't it, but is still has a pink tinge. My go to red for 'proper' red for Christmas etc, is Terracotta red from Micamoma, it looks a bit orange in the pack but saponifies to a really good proper red.
Nezumi soaps also made a round soap, she used a Pringle can. Worked very well. From what I can see in the first soap I'm inclined to say it's the old Einstein equation of movement, the wider the circle the more momentum on initial spin. However they turned out beautifully.
Very nice, thanks for sharing. Have you considered slowly spinning it up to speed, and then abruptly stop the spinning ? It looked the acceleration did most of the work, and the sudden decelleration should give you more of a twist.
This is an awesome technique! Reminds me of that toy from my childhood where you spin it and add drops of paint to get interesting designs. I forget what it was called. But I love these bars!
Do you think it will work with x shaped divider? if to divide to 4 sections instead of 2? I'm gonna try TODAY=)) This video and the technique is super inspirational! Thank you Lisa!
I love how creative you are and how you reuse/ recycle things, your soaps are always beautiful. I would like to say you might want to have a warning before you video next time you do one like this for people with epilepsy or seizures. I watched it, but It did start to make me feel a little lightheaded. I have seizures.
I'm sorry to hear you have seizures and hope you felt better soon after! Can you educate me on what sort of warning you would need? Is it the turntable spinning since that was quite clearly signposted she was going to do it and not sudden, or something else? Anyway, I'm glad you're okay!
@@IDreamInSoap Great to know, appreciate it. Yes, I particularly like that it looks like you can adjust the height for the splitter by moving the harp to a new notch instead of having to redo a wire.
