Thanks for the videos, gives me some ideas for my gravely yard ornament. Been sitting for a few years. Bought it off a guy who "rebuilt it" but the carb gave me fits from day one and the transmission would pop out of gear (think the springs bent). I managed to drive it around the yard once and its been sitting every since. Parts are getting rarer, a more modern easily sourced engine seems the cure.
Sorry, but the D24 project is being abandoned. I was planning to swap it into a Porsche 924, but they are not as readily available as they were when I started the project. I also realized a 4x4 is better suited to my needs.
I have 2 Yanmar L70s & they’re great! Just gotta have the valves set right so it does not rip the pull rope from your hand.
Oh yeah, it bites back when it fires up.
I adjusted the valves though when rebuilding.

My thoughts exactly. I am doing another diesel repower a more “bolt on” way. Check that out as well if you’re looking for inspiration.
Was there ever a kit made for doolies with gear reduction hobbs
No, not that I know of.
Update on the d24?

Where did you get the diesel eng In the united states
I got this one used in a broken generator. You can find them in Aurora Generators, or some others under the name “Silent Diesel”
