When you got your mum’s button tin, I burst out laughing…with a few tears. My mother had an old wooden button box that could keep me busy sifting through it for an hour when I was small. She passed away on 2020 and I had to go through all their things they had accumulated for 75 years. She had sorted that box of buttons by colors and put them into parts bins (with the little plastic drawers). Well…I poured each little drawer into an old Christmas tin I’d been dropping buttons in for 50 years. Interestingly, I recognized buttons from the old wooden button box. She never threw out those old buttons, thank heavens. 😢❤. It’s very calming to poke through a stash of old buttons to find four different buttons to sew on something.
😊yes, so true! I am 68, and I still have that special box…from my grandma and my mother, a lot of buttons and the perfume of old times…..❤🌸🥰ooooh soooo nice remember ❤
My heart burst when you got the button box out. Childhood memories of rainy days and drawing pictures and then using the buttons to fill in the drawing. What children today are missing ... I have a button box too, but no children to play with them... But I still play with it and dig through it and delight in finding the beautiful antique and vintage buttons. ❤❤❤
I wake up at 3 or 4 am and what a joy to see you Kate. Sew relaxing. I am going through cancer treatment sew to have your video pop up is sheer joy. I am stressed out but you and your videos relax me. Thank you for being there. Bless you and your lovely family.💗
So many people of a certain age have memories of the button tin. My tin was an old cigar box and I still have it with most of the original buttons. Some of the bakelite buttons started disintegrating but most held up. I used to sit under the dining room table and string the buttons into a very long snake. That’s how I learned to hold a needle and rethread it many times.😂 The table was covered with a knotted lace tablecloth and it was my magical spot since it was easy for me to see out but hard for the adults to see me under there. They had to listen for the clicking of the buttons as I sifted through them to make my snake.
You could put all sorts of things in there! Use it as a gift bag, toiletries, artist's tools, crochet and knitting tools, pantyhose and undies in your luggage, something that you want to pad or conceal or protect.
Hi Kate. My first time on your channel. It was so relaxing watching your video. I went to school in Rajasthan, in Ajmer, and the nuns taught us cross stitch. I'm 53 now, and still love art and craft. Based in Chennai now, all the beautiful cottons! I'm inspired to buy a sewing machine and get on with quilting. You embody love, creativity and homeliness, in a world gone mad with technology. Keep spreading the joy!
You spoke of remembering things that you write better than passive consumption. I am a kinetic learner and the very act of writing something analog style helps me too.
I made a pouch like yours in an afternoon today I have never had stitched before. I have a small quilt top I had just finished and am now contemplating hand stitching it. Thank you Kate for showing me how.
Thank you Kate, your button box brought back happy memories of playing with my aunt’s button box as a child. I inherited my mother’s box and have added to it over the years. I love buttons, especially old ones. The pouch is lovely and would make a good present.
Today is Sunday. We're experiencing a winter storm and frigid temps. A big pot of homemade vegetable soup on the stove and homemade rolls in the oven. Kate is here sharing her latest project with simple sewing techniques and a wonderful sewing pouch is the end result. LIFE IS GOOD ❤❤❤ Sending love to you, Kate.
Memories of my playing with my Nan's button tin. You've given me the idea to create my own for my grand daughter to play with. Another lovely, gentle video Kate. Just the ticket when we're feeling a bit down in winter. Merci beaucoup for your ray of light.
I have my grandmother's button jar. She had a friend who had a collection of buttons in a cabinet with pull-out drawers made especially for a collection. In the USA women made button bracelets in the 1960's. It was a knitted cuff of metallic thread and metal buttons were attached to it. Buttons do bring up pleasant memories. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Hello from California. it is 1100pm here. I was watching cooking shows and getting so hungry. I stopped eating after 700pm for lent. Pure torture and salivating terribly. So lucky me I came upon your channel. You were very informative and give excellent instructions. Now I want to start sewing again. A small project like your sewing kit sparked my interest. Almost 10 years since I quilted. That was because, I was taking care of my mom, she has found her final resting place. Thank you for your encouragement. Just what I needed.😂
Hola!!
Your cottage just makes me smile with seeing your treasures when you move about your sewing room. I really really like the pouch you created from your bits of dot fabrics. I am going to make one, but probably use a printed fabric and quilt around the designs in the fabric design. I have taken hand quilting classes, so using a machine just dosen't appeal to me. My grandmother hand pieced and quilted, and I loved sitting and watching her with her needle and thread working away. (On a personal note, I love your hair, wish I were brave enough to go that short, mine is completely white like snow but at age 80 I guess that happens, lol).
I loved Mr. Roger's Neighborhood as a child. He was calm, caring, and imaginative. Watching this video, you are my adult, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood! Ms. Kate's Sewing room...calm, caring, and creative❤

What a PERFECT analogy! Kate, your videos are sweetness to my soul. ❤
My first time watching you, I have been sewing since aged 5yrs & 66yrs today, been trying to find some interesting youtubes to encourage my recently widowed friend, that she should get out her machine again, I thought I would introduce her to quilting
Oh the joy of the button tin. That has reminded me that as a child I used to sit in the cupboard under the stairs with the button tin. The sound of you swishing round in it is pure joy 😊
Me too, my Mom use to teach me my colors and addition and subtraction with buttons. I sat under the table while she sewed and we chatted…I was very young and tiny, she’d teach me words, numbers, letters… Turns out she had her Grandma’s button box ( my great grandma) and that’s the button tin I grew up with. Turns out she gave it to me and I made a quilt that now hangs on the wall in my quilt room. It’s made with the very largest, prettiest buttons for flowers, complete with a patchwork basket design, embroidered basket handle, stem and leaves. The sounds and smell of a button tin is heavenly, and they are lovely to sift through and admire!
When my children were very young I gave them a threaded needle that had the point cut off and the button tin. They would string the buttons onto the thread while I was sewing. It helped them practice their fine motor skills and kept them busy while I sewed!
I've sewn a quilt from my odd shapes of scraps and it took me weeks to work on it then I've sewn the pieces together and came up with a good size quilt, now I'm handstitching the quilt while it is pinned down to batting. I'm giving it away as a gift to my friend of many years.
I’m going to make one of these, a bit smaller to carry a cutlery set and napkin for my lunches at work and when I’m out and about. Great … thanks Kate. ❤
Guten morgen ,sehr gemütlich bei dir, und du hast eine wunderschöne angenehme Stimme und strahlst eine Ruhe aus. Danke und einen lieben Gruß aus Österreich (Austria) fanny
The sound of raking through the button box brings fond memories of my mother's button box, which now belongs to me. The same sound is made as my grandchildren now rake through the box seeing what seem to them as oddities, as their life has zippers, Velcro, and elastic. What a lovely project.
May I share that I've watched the majority of your videos and each time I'm inspired to try something new that you've shared. More importantly, you are a bit of sunshine, an absolutely delightful and, I'm sure, a genuinely good kind-hearted person. How I wish our world were filled with more folks like you. God bless you dear one. May He keep you healthy and safe and prosper you in all your endeavors as He gives you wonderful days filled with special and unexpected blessings. You are appreciated... greatly valued. Thank you for sharing your time, talent and wisdom... such amazing gifts.
I loved the search through your button tin. Reminded me how much I enjoyed sitting with my mom while she sewed, just letting those buttons flow through my fingers while I picked out the next one I wanted to string. I loved the colors and sizes, but most of all the sound. I wonder how many of the younger set ever got to do that. Makes me remember to find all the buttons I have and make a tin for my granddaughter.
Make sure to find some of the fancy ones & different ones. I always sorted my Mothers buttons out with the fancy ones (rhinestones) out. I always felt so fancy holding them. All the unique ones too. Quite fun times… Mother never had or was never quite. 8-10 kids/teens. Memories
Welcome back, Kate. It’s nice to see you. You are so meticulous and admired. I just slap the pieces together, after placing them in a bag divided between lights and darks; no sorting of pieces. Then I trim them up. I know this as Mile A Minute stitching. It gets rid of a lot of scraps!
I’m astonished at the beautiful and colorful products that have come from your talent! I love spending time watching you create, and teach! Kate, you are one wonderful lady. Well done dear. Onward! Lol! 😂♥️🙏🕊🙋♀️♥️
Oh the memories of running your fingers through the button tin!!! The sound of you doing this takes me back to my Mother’s button tin. ❤️ Thank you for reminding me of great memories.
Thank you for this great video ! 🤗. I love it. I can see you’re a very talented, yet kind person. I fervently pray every day, I meet a lovely person like you 🙏🙏🙏, and she patiently teaches me how to do patchwork projects. I just love patchwork. I have ADD and Autism, and Anxiety/Depression, which makes it hard for me to learn. I’m not feeling sorry for myself or anything… I can follow tutorials too. I’ve completed a course at my local college, and finished a few projects. It was fun, but my teacher was kind of impatient and didn’t understand my problems. It would be so good to find a kind and patient person, as I mentioned, who was patient enough to help me learn. All the best to everyone here. ❤️
I love that. The hand quilting is so rustic and so pretty. I have my grandma’s button box too. Passed to my mum and now to me. I spent many times just tipping them all out and looking at so many different buttons. I recently sorted them all out into colours and bought a divider box to store them. The original box was getting a bit beaten up but I couldn’t throw it out. It still sits in my sewing cupboard. So many memories. 🥰
Happy New Year from Oregon USA everyone! It was delightful to dig through your button box with you, Kate. What is it that makes button boxes, tins and jars such a happy pasttime? It hits just about every sense, doesn't it? The sight, sound, feel and smell of all of those buttons still makes me tingle! I was repeatedly admonished as a child to NOT put the most candylike of them into my mouth, and I bet I wasn't only one!🤪
I made forts with my dominos with button flourish. I still have my grandmother's button jar. The smell takes me to her house and me on the floor sorting buttons.

Lovely video, as always, I collect buttons and regret having cleared out my Mom’s during our last move. But I do have a great grandma’s sewing chest. Oh your pouch I should make one😊
Hello Kate,… this is Peggy Justus from Lexington. Kentucky in USA. I grew up near the mountains of North Carolina. I absolutely love watching you… I’m very interested in quilting plus I’m 81 years old. Thank you for sharing your videos … I think I’ve seen “most” of them and hope to see many more in the future. ❤
Glad to be back on the lime green couch with everyone. I have also been sorting through my scraps this week. I started sewing skinny strips diagonal onto 10" muslin foundation blocks. I find it relaxing to "make fabric"- my pattern, my rules.
When I was small my mom would let me play in her button box while she sewed. I have that button box now. I can spend hours touching the buttons❤ love the pouch. Happy New Year 🎉
I always enjoy a little crumb piecing. Even if I don't have a project in mind, I will make some 5 inch squares and an idea will follow. It is great fun, but expensive in thread use. lol
Yes I agree, and I use up thread spools & bobbins that have a little bit of thread left on them that isn't enough for a large project. Very satisfying almost therapeutic, use of bits and pieces. Very relaxing. @@gingerfeeley6849
I was thinking of a little pouch for a spool of thread inside the pouch, and a couple of needles on the flap. Perhaps a bit of elastic on the flap to hold the scissors.
Dear Kate in the first place I wish you a happy and pleasant year. Then I want to thank you for two things you have done for me. The first is the discovery of the Lord of the Rings that I thought before was intended for old teenagers 😂 The other thing is that you pushed me to sew by hand and I just finished the hand quilting of a « grandmother’s garden »who was bored in the wardrobe. The result is incredible. And what a relaxing and creative activity. Thank you very much
I usually throw small sewing projects into a plastic baggie with thread, scissors, etc. to take with me when I run errands, have doctor appointments, wait to pick up a kid from school, etc. I think this is a much nicer way to go. I look forward to making one soon. Thanks for the idea and demonstration. GC from Oregon, USA.
Beautiful project to start the year. Last week I made a pouch for a small pair of scissors I found lost on a deserted road. Used old scraps, my beloved grandmother’s embroidery thread, and a press stud that had been waiting, on its original card, to be used for at least 50 years. Quite pleased with myself and will enjoy attempting this project too. Thank you for the showing us how.
Kate, I am binge watching you as I'm in bed resting up from a cold. You brought me so much joy at the button tin. I have my mothers, which also belonged to her mother from whom I got my love of sewing from. My grandchildren when they were younger would love to go through all the buttons sorting them into colours etc. I even have some buttons left over from a dress my Grannie made me. Such wonderful memories and I absolutely adored doing the herringbone stitch. I must make this little notion bag. Thank you so much 🙏
I love the cosiness of your sewing room. You've kept it neat and tidy and organized. I love your work. We do a lot of such crafts in our country, especially in Jaipur. The objects created in this style are highly priced in India and are a tourist attraction.
Oh my Godness, that iron ! So special? 😂😂😂 I love your cottage, your place, sewing slowly, with peace in ❤, the windows looking the gardens , your cat… Absolutely my dream….thank you so much 🙏just discover today your channel 😘🥰👍🏻♥️🌸 Hugs from Spain, From an Italian grandma 👵
I guess I was channeling Kate yesterday. I did exactly this, sewing together scraps and did a stitch and flip backing for a hot pad. I machine quilted a big spiral.
I love your idea of making use of little pieces of scrap. My grandmother would make quilts out of scraps of material from my mother’s sewing projects for the clothing she did for all of us, girls and boys over the years. She would cut them into one and a quarter inch squares, and of course that was back when you didn’t have a rotary cutter and she used an old wooden yardstick for her guide, her marking and measuring and cutting and she hand quilted every single piece together no sewing machine and she would get the quilt top done, and it wasn’t anything fancy, but it was really cool to see all of our clothing preserved in that quiltand she made a lot of them there in a chair just as you were working in the evening and in between her daily chores/😮😮 projects and show those tiny squares together one row at a time. Eventually she gave the quilt top to my mother, who then bind it in quilted etc. to finish it off. But she didn’t believe in wasting any scrap material and I have kept a lot of pieces of material over the year for that same reason. Didn’t know what I was going to do with it, but I hope you go leave something could be made when it was a pillow or something, just don’t waste the fabric. I think this would be a wonderful project to do with the Granddaughter, and help her not only how to use the machine, but handing and sewing in the ditch; looking through the button Tan together. Many years ago Mary Kay put out a traveling JEWELRY bag that was on the same Principal only it had zippers in pockets but it rolled up just like your square with the ribbons tied and it’s got to be close to 40 years old and I still have it and I still use it. I can see many uses for this 15 years, or whatever size you would choose to make your “fabric envelope”, as I would call it. Thank you for this TH-cam video. I’m new to your channel and have subscribed. I love listening to you talk and I love the comfort of “being in your home “while you work. Thank you so much for sharing that part in your video you don’t have to let us see your home , it was lovely watching you show by the fireplace and I couldn’t help but think of my lovely grandmother who has been gone for close to 30 years.. I just found myself drawn to your teaching video because you sounded a lot like my grandmother not the one that made the one Square quilt but the other one who spent a lot of time with me and teaching me a lot including gardening and I miss her a lot. Anyway, thank you so much for a great video and I apologize for rambling, but I’m feeling nostalgic after watching your video❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️😊
Love it! That would have been perfect to have a couple weeks ago when my hubby was in hospital and I was toting around my little squares and papers in a plastic baggie. LOL ...got some funny looks from the nurses I did!
After starting 2 projects for 2024 I am now starting a 3rd one....your amazing pouch using scraps from my other 2 projects! Lovely to have work on the go when chores are done😊 Thanks Kate x
Oh Kate. Isn’t that sweet. I think I can make smaller ones and place tissues in it and slip it in my purse. Clever you are. I have a fond affection for Mother of Pearl buttons! Thank you
Lovely video…..I also have my Mum’s button tin, which was passed to her by her mother. I can remember it being a ‘treat’ as a small child to play in Mum’s button tin. I guess the tin would be well over a hundred years old!
Can't wait to see what's in-store for 2024 here as well as the garden and pond adventure. SO exciting to watch all your happiness in the Last Homely House !!!
Kate!!! I just LOVE YOU!!! I think I might be your age…. My 73rd birthday is very soon and my wish would be to sit with you in your “Last Homely House” and stitch the day away, chatting about the beauty of fabric and sewing and stitching and cats!!!👍🏼😊❣️
Wow, I too was sorting scraps. It's been minus 31C or there about. I've had a pot of soup leftovers and cherry tarts to keep us happy. I also like the idea of a pouch inside. I'd attach a small draw sting bag to hold my thimble. I'm not sure where mine is right now -tho it is in a small bag. It has to be with one of my wip. This would make a great gift. Oh dear the last two cherry tarts are a "burnt" offering. LOL!!! Well yes, I fell asleep also. Button boxes are the best. Enjoyed visiting with everyone on the LGC.
Thanks so much Kate for sharing this simple project with us all. One of my girlfriend is expecting her first baby in April, and I am going to do one of those little pouches for her to carry a couple of nappies around when she will be going out of her house with the baby! I know she will love it!
When you opened the button box a wave of nostalgia washed over me and brought tears to my eyes.Mommy's button box ! I love the little pouch.very pretty! I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2024. Time flies , doesn't it?
My 1st project for the year for me is going to be a sewing machine cover , was shocked at how dusty my poor machine actually got just sitting there 🤦so embarrassing, so today I gave it a good clean , a kids to say thankyou and will make it a cover , it's done me proud last year making around 25 memory teddies.
So wonderful watching you rummage through your mum’s button tin, I now have my grandmothers, and it really does bring back memories of very special times spent together. Priceless moments. Thank you for sharing this. ❤
Dear Kate, My new year project has been to join a local quilting group. I am new to quilting but needed a hand quilting/sewing project to take along. Your beautiful 2023 calendar that has adorned my sewing space these past 12 months has been immortalised- I have punched 1” hexagons from nearly every inch of the colourful paper. I am thoroughly enjoying my first taste of hand made quilting with my colourful hexagons ❤. I hope you approve of my upcycling ! Bless you for all your creative inspiration 🤗💕
Hi kate! When would you consider The Last Homely House's birthday to be? I'd love to sit on the lime green sofa with you and give you a present to celebrate the creation of something so wonderful.
I am very new to quilting but have always had a love of cloth and sewing. I can't bear to throw away any scrap of material which can be repurposed, and this project is just the inspiration I need! I want to design a series of fabric wall hangings to hold many of my fiber related tools and supplies which I currently have to root through totes to locate. Thank you for the encouragement, and please thank Anna for her exceptional taste in music throughout ALL of your videos!❤
Such a lovely video today. I too have a button tin passed down from my mother and possibly from her mother as well. I love the little envelope style carry tote. It will be perfect for a few of my crochet hooks I like to take on trips. I absolutely am in love with the colors of the crochet afghan in your chair… I taught myself how to crochet in 2020 and the only thing that I can crochet at this time is granny squares, so your crocheted afghan has given me such an inspiration of colors. I’ve been a quilter since 2001 so I’m sure I have plenty of scraps to make the little tied envelope carry. Thanks again for the lovely video. Hugs from Arkansas USA
When I was a small child my Grandmama would give me her button box and a threaded needle with looong thread to string buttons on. Your hand and finger look like hers and ohhh, that sound. So many memories.
I love watching your tutorials. Thank you so much. I was willed my aunts button box....she was a button collector. I feel so blessed to have that hatbox of buttons. I made a quilt for my grandson last year using used dryer sheets for a foundation for my scrap fabric. Turned out quite lovely. I'm excited to see your pouch pattern so I can take some hand sewing with me while traveling.
That pouch looks handy for many things. It would make a nice gift also. I can see little birds at the bird feeders outside the window behind you (while you were sitting at your sewing machine). It would be lovely to sit by a wood fire again. All electric keeps my house warm; but, there was something very special about sitting by a good warm wood fire (in a wood burning stove) on a very cold, damp, dark day. .
I sorta like the holidays, I take time off from work…I schedule education webinars…and as soon as January starts, 1/8, it’s been so busy, 3 webinars this week, 2 more next week….the lull makes it tough to start back up! I started a sweater quilt I’ve been planing for a very long time…old sweaters cut into squares. It’s my mindless sewing, would like to complete by next winter!
I love the pouch! My Nanny had a bead box that my sister and I were allowed to string the beads. When we went home, she'd keep a couple of our best creations in the box but would clip the strings on the rest so we could restring them the next time. I now have the bead box and the sewing machine she made my sister and my clothes on. Such great memories! I admit, I kept thinking put the lid back on the button box! I just knew it was going to tip over and you'd have to pick up all your beautiful buttons lol I'm glad it stayed upright 😊
@@leannemori9688 yeah, I was having an anxiety attack about it. Which is odd for me because I'm one of the most laid back people in the world. I think it was seeing all the pretty buttons. 😂
I am going to make one for my granddaughter for her to keep the cards and letters we send her with no ties I think velcro dots or snaps. Yours is so beautiful.....

Just in the middle of making the pouch with some lovely birds and nests fabric. Perfect project for this material.
“No scrap left behind!” Great therapy project and love that feeling that comes with up-cycling fabric!
I made a pouch like yours in an afternoon today I have never had stitched before. I have a small quilt top I had just finished and am now contemplating hand stitching it. Thank you Kate for showing me how.

Almost 10 years since I quilted. That was because, I was taking care of my mom, she has found her final resting place. Thank you for your encouragement. Just what I needed.😂
Kate! There you are...I'm very happy to be seeing you again. It's such fun. I hope you'll be having a wonderful and healthy year.
As always, your colors are beautiful.
Super bonito ❤️❤️❤️❤️ gracias
Kisses from Brasil for vou! ❤ 👍 ☺
Hola!!
I will be making one for my retired nurse items to gift to a new nurse!!! Thank you ❤❤❤
Your cottage just makes me smile with seeing your treasures when you move about your sewing room.
My Mum used to have one too…I should probably start one ❤
When my children were very young I gave them a threaded needle that had the point cut off and the button tin. They would string the buttons onto the thread while I was sewing. It helped them practice their fine motor skills and kept them busy while I sewed!
Yes the button tin was my favorite part! I will get mine out and feel kindred with you all on the green sofa :)
I so enjoyed this video. I also, am a quilter. If only our little girls could learn these skills-not so much texting!!!!
What a happy thing! :) Polka dots, stitiching, quilting, and buttons! And a pouch to put things in! Next to a warm fire. True joy! Thank you.
When I was a little girl I often went through my mother's button jar. It was a good plaything on a rainy day.
I’m always so delighted to see you, Kate! ❣️❣️❣️
Blessings from GiGi

I loved the search through your button tin. Reminded me how much I enjoyed sitting with my mom while she sewed, just letting those buttons flow through my fingers while I picked out the next one I wanted to string. I loved the colors and sizes, but most of all the sound. I wonder how many of the younger set ever got to do that. Makes me remember to find all the buttons I have and make a tin for my granddaughter.
Roberta, make the tin of buttons WITH your granddaughter. It will be a memory that may last her lifetime!
The button tin 🥰🥰. How wonderful that it was your grandmother’s and your mum’s. Brought tears to my eyes.
I made forts with my dominos with button flourish
I made forts with my dominos with button flourish. I still have my grandmother's button jar. The smell takes me to her house and me on the floor sorting buttons.

Enjoy your videos. You are so calming.
It is great fun, but expensive in thread use. lol
Cheaper than buying more fabric though! And it really gets the creative ideas flowing!
Yes I agree, and I use up thread spools & bobbins that have a little bit of thread left on them that isn't enough for a large project. Very satisfying almost therapeutic, use of bits and pieces. Very relaxing. @@gingerfeeley6849
@@seaside2001 Great idea! I’m going to incorporate using up thread and bobbins in this way!
I was thinking of a little pouch for a spool of thread inside the pouch, and a couple of needles on the flap. Perhaps a bit of elastic on the flap to hold the scissors.
Memories. Of button tins and my mum.
Love this project
Dear Kate in the first place I wish you a happy and pleasant year. Then I want to thank you for two things you have done for me. The first is the discovery of the Lord of the Rings that I thought before was intended for old teenagers 😂
The other thing is that you pushed me to sew by hand and I just finished the hand quilting of a « grandmother’s garden »who was bored in the wardrobe.
Thank you so much 🙏
Kate, you aren't the only one who loses their thimble. I'm sure my thimbles are living in the land of missing things. Love to you
I finally made myself a thimble pip, and put a long ribbon on it to attach to my scissors handle. Haven't lost on in 2 years!
I'm the same lost two last year.
I love the cosiness of your sewing room. You've kept it neat and tidy and organized. I love your work. We do a lot of such crafts in our country, especially in Jaipur. The objects created in this style are highly priced in India and are a tourist attraction.
Oh my Godness, that iron ! So special?
😂😂😂 I love your cottage, your place, sewing slowly, with peace in ❤, the windows looking the gardens , your cat…
Absolutely my dream….thank you so much 🙏just discover today your channel 😘🥰👍🏻♥️🌸
Hugs from Spain,
From an Italian grandma 👵
I guess I was channeling Kate yesterday. I did exactly this, sewing together scraps and did a stitch and flip backing for a hot pad. I machine quilted a big spiral.
I just said to myself earlier today, “ wonder when Kate will be back?”- and there you were!! Love the project. May give it a go!
I like it. Thank you. Nata.❤
I so wish I had a picture of my son lining up armies of buttons from my button tin. Was in days before our phone cameras.
Love it! That would have been perfect to have a couple weeks ago when my hubby was in hospital and I was toting around my little squares and papers in a plastic baggie. LOL ...got some funny looks from the nurses I did!
Kate, Rewatched the “Sewing Pouch” Video and obtained your measurements and directions👏. M🍀
Thank you
Oh I do love the sound of a button tin❤ I also love looking through other people's, so that was a real treat for me, thank you ❤
Lovely video…..I also have my Mum’s button tin, which was passed to her by her mother.
The same ❤😂
Wow, I too was sorting scraps.
It's SO GOOD to see you again, Kate ❣️ I'm glad your new year was such vibrant time!!!
A kiss 🙄spell checker
So wonderful watching you rummage through your mum’s button tin, I now have my grandmothers, and it really does bring back memories of very special times spent together. Priceless moments. Thank you for sharing this. ❤
I love to watch all of your many ideas. You have made my quilting so much more enjoyable. Thank you from a senior citizen in the state of Alabama!
What a gorgeous handy little Pouch, and such beautiful fabric! You have such cosy areas in your home to stitch, and sitting by the fire! Cheers!
This is a great project and the perfect size for me to try slow stitches and hand quilting. Thank you for your wonderful content.
One of my fondest memories is being excited when my Nanna would bring out her button tin and helping her look the that perfect button she needed.
Sewing crumbs into usable fabric is so relaxing. Love to see your creative ideas develop.
I can feel the heat of your wood burning stove!
Happy New Year,
I love that you are "just going for it". Sometimes that is what brings the joy of the project.
Love this way to use up tiny scraps. I don’t throw them out either. Might make one for my quilting friends
Dear Kate,
My new year project has been to join a local quilting group.
Loved your new video! Here’s to more stitching projects in 2024!
All electric keeps my house warm; but, there was something very special about sitting by a good warm wood fire (in a wood burning stove) on a very cold, damp, dark day. .
So nice, the flowers and the cat. A really homely house.
This is totally something I could do! I have loads of scraps and ideas in my head. Happy New Year!
I was watching for her to put the top on the buttons too. I just knew she was going to accidentally spill them or Rita would do so.
@@leannemori9688 yeah, I was having an anxiety attack about it. Which is odd for me because I'm one of the most laid back people in the world. I think it was seeing all the pretty buttons. 😂
A new video from Kate! Made my day brighter.
I am going to make one for my granddaughter for her to keep the cards and letters we send her with no ties I think velcro dots or snaps. Yours is so beautiful.....
