Anna and I are overwhelmed by all the wonderful comments! Thank you so much for all your thoughtful friendliness, I am very lucky to have such a caring, talented daughter in law. We will be thinking about her next project soon! Love to you and take care, Kate xxx
So happy to hear that Anna is now a quilter!! Both of the quilts are so pretty. It is so good to hear you both giggle. Can't wait to see what Anna comes up with for her next quilt.😊
You thought you were teaching us to bind a quilt, but in fact you were teaching us so much more. You were showing us how a Mother in Law interacts with her daughter in Law. You were showing us patience and kindness and how to be the best cheerleader and encourager.
I don't know what I enjoyed more, seeing two beautiful quilts finished or the relationship between two wonderful women.Thank you for creating this series.
I have to admit I felt some serious mother-in-law-envy 😂 I wish I had someone to craft with and chat like you do - thanks for letting me be a part of that through your wonderful videos. So relaxing, cozy and kind. I'm glad I found your channel and feel very inspired to start a quilt project now.
Oh Kate. This was such a joy to watch. Not only do you have a fabulous son, but a dear dear daughter in law. Anna, you are a love. Thanks Ladies. And the quilts are stunning. Hugs from Maine.
Kate & Anna, you were talking about the QR codes on your quilts, and it made me think about the QR code I quilted into my son's best friend's quilt at my son's request. I'll try to send you a photo.
The two of you ladies work so well, you’re both sweet and kind to each other. ❤ Thank you for showing us possibilities, Anna. And thank you Kate for ever so loving and patient and a great model for how to be a mentor.❤ eta: congratulations Anna, quilt looks so beautiful and well done!
I love when my husband spits out a quilting term..... I am so proud of his attention to quilts. Long time back, I had 4 friends for a weekend retreat at my house....he kept tabs on everyone's projects. MONTHS later at our quilt show, he went around and found every single ( now finished ) quilt that had the beginnings at our retreat. He then found each friend to compliment them. I will literally be smiling on my deathbed at that precious memory. He ALSO liked the treats and meals that come along with a retreat!!!! Lovely quilts, Anna and Kate.
This is absolutely my favorite you tube channel. And the Kate/anna dynamic is what really brings it together. There is something about watching a genuine relationship but also watching someone lovingly teach.
About a cupboard full of lovely quilts makes me think of a gift I received on my 70th Birthday. Blessed are the QuilterFor they are the piecemakers Blessed are the Children of the Quilters For they will inherit the Quilts.
I loved watching the two of you laugh and giggle together! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I so wish I was your neighbor and could sit, and sew, and chat with you guys! I enjoy my own company, but the very best I can do right now is sit and listen to you guys while I do my own project. I'm so grateful for the time you take to teach and share. ❤
You two are such a delight! What a dream ‘in law’ relationship, and what a treasure to pass down all that knowledge and skill. I have so enjoyed watching! Also Anna mentioned a video of making her soon to be design board when the house is done made me gasp in delight! Can’t wait for that ❤️
What a delightful daughter-in-law!! Why can’t all mothers-in-law be like you??? Thank you, love your videos! Greetings from a sunny South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
And all daughter in laws be like Anna, it takes two people wanting a healthy relationship….I really do not like being a mother in law, such negative thoughts about it, i like my daughter in law, respect her, happy my son is happy….but she doesn’t like my daughter, therefore I have to keep my distance, i just try to smile and be pleasant, i keep to myself. You two warm my heart! Thank you for sharing your warm, sincere, authentic relationship with us on the lime green sofa! The quilts are beautiful! And as a quilter for more than 30 years, I’m still learning new things, as I’ve never seen a faced quilt! I’ll have to try it!
What a blessing to be able to share your quilting abilities with your daughter in law. I’m a brand new quilter and love watching your English piece quilting. I live in Louisiana.
I’ve just loved watching the two of you together! You’ve made me smile each step of the way. What a blessing to be in each other’s lives. And both of your quilts turned out so beautiful! I eagerly await your next project together! 🥰 ~ Melissa
Anna have you thought of making table runners for quick little projects and as a way of auditioning patterns and colors? Also you can decorate your kitchen without a very large quilt that will collect dirt and oils. Kate you are such a great and patient teacher.❤
I have gone back and watched all of your episodes! I am watching now and really love yours and Anna's ideas. Many years ago I sewed everything but life got very busy and haven't sewn in about 38years! You have reignited the spark which renews my sewing fuse! I will be starting my first quilt this next week. I have been busy setting up my sewing room! By the way, I am 75years old. Thank you for your channel. You are lovely!❤😊
The same with me! I’ve watched so many in the last few weeks Geraldo jokingly said he thinks I’m stalking her! I am just finishing up the quilt I started after I found Kate’s videos. It’s for my GP who convinced to get checked for breast cancer. I did and they found it before it’s bad. Aren’t we lucky to have found someone so encouraging and kind! I hope Kate knows how great she is.
Hello Kate and Anna, I am Linda, an old Granny from "across the pond" in the middle of the USA. I just recently found your channel. I did make fabric crafts and paper crafts, but due to health issues I have had to pause for a while. I never quilted but love the look and the process. So enjoy watching you and hearing your lovely voices. I am fascinated with languages and dialects, we even have many different dialects between the States. I also love to see the relationship between the two of you. So precious! . Seeing the admiration, laughter and love between you. Seeing the patience and understanding. The excitement over the process. Beautiful. So I shall gab a tea (Earl Grey is my favorite) and stick around. I have to see them finished of course. God bless you both.
My mum and I did a lot of quilting together before she passed away; we had so much fun! I love watching Kate and Anna....brings back lovely memories. 😊
This video is the Best! You two very Dear People! The joy and camaraderie you two share is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Must confess that i will be rewatching this one too. Thankyou so MUCH!!!
I love these videos with you and Anna chatting and working together! Very comforting, and you're both so sweet and charming and have such a good report with each other. ❤
Kate you are such a great teacher, so patient and kind, and your daughter in law learning from you. She will always remember who taught her and pass it on to others.
My husband gets to semi-voluntarily pick up crafting terms too. He helps me baste my quilts and has helped me warp my rigid heddle loom and is a great yarn untangler. He tells me things like “I was next to a lady knitting on the ferry today - she was knitting Continental too” and whatnot. I’ve told him I’m doing him a favor - if he outlives me, he will be immensely popular in the nursing home. I intend to make seasonal quilts to go with my seasonal crocheted blankets I’ve made. Go for it, Anna!
Anna is so fortunate to have you in her life. I love the relationship you both have together. You both are such wonderful people and are so great together. I love you both. I love quilting and watching your videos while I quilt. -Michelle
Hi Kate and Ann a, it's been such a beautiful journey to watch as you've worked together on your quilts. Mother and daughter, teacher and student and kindred spirits. Both quilts are gorgeous. I shall be looking forward to seeing more of your quilting journey Anna. Happy stitching xx
Kate, I know that Anna must love you to bits, and you her. Not every Mother In Law has earned "Wonderful Mother In Law" status, but it is clear that you have. You teaching her with so much patience just warmed my heart. I hope that if I ever have a daughter or son in law that I can be as great as you.
I just love watching the two of you stitching together!! It made me so happy to hear Anna, with absolutely no hesitation, say “yes”, she’s going to make another!! Bless little Cat Rita for her sweet contribution to the music of this video-“meow”😻
I definitely need a Kate in my life!! Aren’t you interested in organizing a summer camp?? I will pay the fortune I don’t have 😂 to stay a month in the cabin just quilting, drinking tee (maybe wine as well) talking no stop and staring at the beautiful view 😊 Thank you for sharing!!
Hi there.. I am German and started some weeks ago with Patchworking and now beginning Quilting:-) And so I found you here and need to say how much I love to watch your Videos... its absolutely Joy, Fun and Love❤.. can't get enough of it😂. Your Quilts are soooo beautiful and a huge Inspiration to me! Thank you ladies🙏 and greetings from Potsdam - Sybille (66 years old😊)
Two very different quilts but both so gorgeous. Such a lovely relationship you two share and it’s a privilege to watch you interact with one another in a loving, caring way. 💖
Loved this video! Anna is adorable. How blessed you both are to have each other. Both quilts are beautiful. Wish I could be there to quilt with you. 🪡❤️
Actually you could keep on sewing binding and make a jelly roll from it. That way you have allready the base of a new project, let`s say: a matching pillow cover, placemats, chair pad, quilted bags etc. The jelly roll can be used in so many different ways. 🙂P.S. You can also face a quilt the other way around, leaving the strip to show on the top of the quilt. 🙂 It`s so much fun. P.S.2 : Movie Tipp: >>How to make an American Quilt
Such an absolutely lovely video!! I got a little teary at the end watching Kate’s joy over her beloved Anna and her gorgeous quilt…she’s so pleased and proud. You two are so endearing. Family is such a blessing.
I made a collapsible design board out of a foldable cardboard pattern board. It’s nice because I can store it in my closet until I’m ready to design the layout. I covered the mat by gluing flannel on it and use curtain rods and big binder clips to set it up. It’s fantastic!
Congratulations on crossing a double finish line together, and your first finish, Anna! Both quilts are beautiful! I've loved being in on your conversations all along the way and seeing Anna get the bug. Such lovely, no waste choices for scraps in the backing and binding. There is always a bright, happy idea at the Last Homely House and it is so much fun to tune in. Thank you so much.
“The quilt police know where Kate lives”🤣😂😹. I like that Anna has gone down the English paper piecing rabbit 🐇 holes with Liberty Tana Lawn for her summer quilt.😻🥰
I’m with Anna on wanting loads of quilts to choose, I’ve got 14 made so far, and my daughter says she loves the fact that she and guests can go and choose/swap their quilt, it makes the house have a lovely, unique, wholesome feel. I made my first quilt in my late forties, it took me over a year and a half to make, then got hooked and now make 5 or 6 quilts a year, what stops me making more is the expense of good quality quilting cotton fabrics ❤. Loads of my friends say “what do you do with all these quilts? “Some have even called them duvets! I guess homemade quilts are not for everyone but I love being surrounded by them, so carry on Anna, fill your home and your heart, with handmade quilts
Kate, you're such an inspiration! Most of the sewing I do is clothing for all the dolls made by American Girl. Now I'm making quilts for them. What fun!
Congratulations Anna! 🎉you are both so blessed to have one another. I love watching you together, makes me smile so much. I have a happy heart watching you! ❤❤
I have truly loved watching the videos of Anna's quilting journey with her wonderful mother-in-love! I am teaching my 3 granddaughters, all 8 years old, to embroider and quilt. Recently, they have been able to reach the pedal on my sewing machine and can sew solo. I will also teach the two grandsons, now 5 years old, once they get older. My great-grandparents came from Sweden to Washington, D.C., U.S.A., and worked as tailors to 2 U.S. Presidents. They made inaugural suits for Coolidge and Taft. Sewing skipped several generations before reaching me, but I have at least got the grandgirls sewing in our family. Can't wait to see the next series of quilt-making with Kate and Anna!
Lovely job, Anna. I really like how those little scraps made a colourful binding. As well, Kate, the shark's tooth backing is so beautiful!! What a nice way to spend time together.
It's great to see a younger person eager to learn, but it's also nice to see an older person who is patient and a good teacher. I'm happy both of you are here.
Thanks for the video, makes me wish I wasn't homeless and had a place to set-up my sewing machine and make my fist quilt, watching Kate makes me so happy you are fabulous.
ive just recently joined all of your lovely subscribers on the lime green sofa! what a great group of people are gathered there. im so happy to have discovered your channel! I am from the US on the north coast of Ohio (on Lake Erie). every day I spend too much time watching all of your videos from the past 5 years. I, too, am a maker of many things.....book binding, quilting, gardening, and I have a cat (though only one). I admire the way you interact with all of your family and I have grown quite fond of each of them. Thank you for your gentle and kind manner.....keep making videos! you give such enjoyment to so many!
Anna, your hexis are beautiful! Instead of a full bed quilt for your super king... Consider a bedrunner. A bed runner is a small quilt placed at the foot of the bed. Depending on the size of bed it can run anywhere from 2-4 feet wide by the width of the bed. Once you get to that size... evaluate and decide if you want to continue or stop. I keep mine on the bed at night to give a warmer zone for my cold feet. 💖🌞🌵😷
The video with John was hilarious - he is so mischievous and you’re endlessly patient but you occasionally laughed and that cracked me up 😂 He teases you mercilessly, my adult sons tease me too and I’m very glad they do 😂
Anna,s quilt is fabulous! ❤ Kate, your a great teacher❤ Kate your quilt is also beautiful! I really enjoyed watching this vlog with you both working together .
Oh Kate & Anna you both so made my day watching you both quilt so wonderfully together. I can’t wait to share this fabulous video with my daughter. You both are so lucky that you have each other. I lost my Mom. But my daughter & I are very close. I am trying to convince my daughter to quilt with me. Hopefully when I show my daughter this video she will get inspired to quilt along side me. The quilts look amazing! 💃🏻💕🕯️🙏🏻 🧵🧶
Bravo Anna!! Welcome to the most wonderful hobby/crafting community! As a quilter, you will always have friends around the world. Beautiful quilt! You have a wonderful teacher.
This was such a great video. Your quilts turned out so pretty, and Anna should be very proud of herself for making such a beautiful first quilt. Thank you both for all you do to entertain all of us!!
Congratulations to both of you, not only for finishing the quilts, but also for sharing your lovely relationship with all of us. You are showing that joy and love abound in your family and that's what this world needs to see. Thank you Kate, for opening your life to us. Thank you Anna, for cheerfully learning and giggling...That's what life is about. Hugs to you both from the Rockies in Canada.
Oh, watching the two of you stitching your binding on nearly brought me to tears. It hasn't been that long ago before the technology era took off. When my daughter was born, cell phones were for work, and the rich. You just spoke on them...then texting using the number pad to type out words, leading to shorthand coming back to life. Then photos followed. Now, we have more in our phones than NASA having rooms to put coding in for the astronauts, who had but a fraction of what we carry in our purses/pockets on a daily basis. Sewing shows were on TV. Now you can get a tutorial on any subject on channels for free! I taught my daughter to use a computer, and my two nieces/daughters before preschool. We didn't have a PC yet, but borrowed my parent's computer. Our PC was but a fraction of the price as my parents, and did more. I printed pictures for my mother to fashion a quilt for every grandchild upon graduation, highschool and college. But, sitting together, just chatting in the beautiful cabin, like our ancestors, was such a simple act of love and companionship. Truly blessed to have each other.❤😊
What a beautiful ending to two projects made together by two beautiful people. Quilting truly brings us together whether in person or via a video. We are so blessed! Thank you both for a beautiful series. I am already looking ahead to your next adventure together. What a rare and beautiful relationship the two of you have, it doesn’t always develop like this but it is lovely to see. Thanks so much for sharing. Happy quilting 🥰
This was a brilliant video. Oh my gosh, I had the best time watching you two lovely women sewing together. So much love and laughter. You are truly blessed to have each other in your lives. And John!! Hope he realizes how fortunate he is to have a mum and wife who get on so well and obviously enjoy each others company. I have put my quilting on the back burner for several months now, but this video has inspired me to get back at it. Wish I could come to Northumberland and quilt with you both. Thank you so much for sharing. Love, Sherrie (Tennessee)
Congratulations Anna! Your quilt is beautiful and I am inspired to make a summer quilt. I love that you mentioned your quilt is official because you slept under it. When I lost my sister, i slept under a quilt that we shared the journey together and it gave me strength to carry on. You are making beautiful memories with your MIL. I am so happy to follow you both!😊
You both are so lovely and what a specialrelationship you have! I love that you both wanted to do this together and I loved watching Anna grow as a quilter ❤
That was just so wonderful. What a joy to watch the two of you together. Anna is so beautiful and kind just a joy to watch. And to have Kate as a teacher! We could all be so fortunate!! Looking forward to your next adventure ♥️
My son’s getting married and his fiancé said they didn’t want a “wedding quilt “, it’s her second marriage. Fair enough so they are getting a “ picnic quilt”,(no batting) as they RV in good weather!😄❤️.
It is such a joy to sit here on the lime green sofa and crochet while watching you and Anna finish your quilts. She is so lucky to have you to show her everything about quilting and to make her very own with your help and advice along the way. What great memories you are both making together. It makes me miss sitting beside my Grandmother when I was a young girl and watching her sew and make quilts and brings back all the special memories.
I am stuck in hospital and watching you has inspired me to finish the ufos I have at home .. thanks for the inspiration.... this will probably be my last quilt as eyesight is fading. I have just given hexy quilts as wedding presentsto twins who are having a double wedding... nothing says I love you more than a hand pieced quilt
Anna, your quilt with the tiny, tiny hexagons should go on the wall....framed and under glass. Anyone making hexagons that small deserves having the quilt live on in perpetuity.
2 beautiful quilts! More importantly, I adore the relationship you two have. I Have a DIL that is sweet, but she and I don’t have as close a relationship as you and Anna. You both are extremely blessed to have each other! And you both get to share John! 💕💕
What a beautiful video, it shows both of your lovely personalities and the wonderful relationship you have. How luck John is to have found his Anna. Thank you for a joyful morning watching you quilting together.
Anna and I are overwhelmed by all the wonderful comments! Thank you so much for all your thoughtful friendliness, I am very lucky to have such a caring, talented daughter in law. We will be thinking about her next project soon! Love to you and take care, Kate xxx
You're so blessed to have a loving daughter-in-law. I have all grown girls and 3 sons-in-law. They are not into sewing. LOLOLO My daughters, somewhat.
So happy to hear that Anna is now a quilter!! Both of the quilts are so pretty. It is so good to hear you both giggle. Can't wait to see what Anna comes up with for her next quilt.😊
❤️
My daughters and I really enjoy getting together to embroider. We call it Stich and Bich lol
Wonderful!
I wonder if Anna knows how beautiful she is; both physically and soulfully. What a treat to have her for a "bonus" daughter!
Hear hear. Watching her makes me happy. 😊
I respectfully agree with you.
I think of this every time I watch Anna, she is such a delightful person.
Watching them interact is the best part of the videos!
She is so pretty and not in your face with it. Her head is a rather normal size 😂😂😂 we love you Anna❤❤❤
You thought you were teaching us to bind a quilt, but in fact you were teaching us so much more. You were showing us how a Mother in Law interacts with her daughter in Law. You were showing us patience and kindness and how to be the best cheerleader and encourager.

I think it would be nice to have all the women for a family weekend craft time? Everyone can do their thing around the table.
I believe this is how women were doing time back. Candles light. The world was more peaceful, thanks to that, too.

I am making my own hexagon quilt, a grandmother’s flower garden. I am loving all the handwork!
Totally agree Sarah, that hexie is going to be FABULOUSLY DELISIOUS. The colors, OH MY! YUMMY
You have a beautiful daughter in-law who has passion for quilting, you are a great teacher, God bless you both and your precious family
Congratulations Kate for making and finishing your first quilt. Kate, congrats on making and finishing your Teri quilt. I have not yet begun mine.
I love the way the two of you enjoy being together, working on your quilts and most of all you laughing together.
I love how you two work so well together. Two beautiful women. Your quilts are fantastic ☺️
“The quilt police know where Kate lives”🤣😂😹. I like that Anna has gone down the English paper piecing rabbit 🐇 holes with Liberty Tana Lawn for her summer quilt.😻🥰
both quilts are so beautiful and you have such a lovely relationship with your daughter in laws.😍
What fun!
Love the colors in Anna’s quilt and her scrappy binding. Both of you put of this beautiful relaxing joyful energy or vibe and seem so genuine.
Oh my goodness! I dropped everything when this popped up. Both quilts look so beautiful. The series has been a real joy. We'll done Anna!
I absolutely love your relationship, you are both so lucky ❤❤❤
Yeah Anna! You've been bitten by the quilt bug now! It's addicting. You two get on so well. It's so fun to watch you enjoying each other's company.😊
❤Anna is a natural.
Congratulations Anna! There's no turning back now. There is no antidote for this addiction.
Both quilts are absolutely lovely ❤️👍🏼👍🏼
Anna don't forget you can make a couple of pillow case/cushion covers with your scraps or left over binding.
What a wonderful experience together. Thank you both for sharing these very special times together. Anna, what an amazing achievement! Stunning!
What I've enjoyed the most is watching your relationship develop through this lovely shared experience. Amen.
I am so happy to follow you both!😊
You don’t have to justify making a quilt, just make them! My new motto!! Thanks
could be on a mug or t-shirt!
You 2 are so very sweet and together the love shows. I am going back to the beginning and watching everything all over again. Well done ladies.
My son’s getting married and his fiancé said they didn’t want a “wedding quilt “, it’s her second marriage. Fair enough so they are getting a “ picnic quilt”,(no batting) as they RV in good weather!😄❤️.
Kate, you are so patient with" Anner" lol. She is lucky to have you as a wonderful teacher😅
Haven't ever heard of facing a quilt. Very nice finish. Learned something new today. Love seeing you and Anna stitch together.
Absolutely beautiful Anna. Kate beautiful so colorful. Love seeing you two sewing together. Awesome ❤️
Anna, your quilt with the tiny, tiny hexagons should go on the wall....framed and under glass. Anyone making hexagons that small deserves having the quilt live on in perpetuity.
2 beautiful quilts! More importantly, I adore the relationship you two have. I
Have a DIL that is sweet, but she and I don’t have as close a relationship as you and Anna. You both are extremely blessed to have each other! And you both get to share John! 💕💕
What a beautiful video, it shows both of your lovely personalities and the wonderful relationship you have. How luck John is to have found his Anna. Thank you for a joyful morning watching you quilting together.
Well done Anna, your quilt is beautiful. You are both a great team ❤
