If that doesnt work, it takes about 1 hour to replace the CV shaft which includes the induction ring fitted, though left side might be harder with the exhaust being there covering the bolts into the differential. CV shaft about 70 squid, you need a 12-point 30mm socket for the main wheel bearing (punch out the wheel plastic cover and unfasten on the ground!)-standard thread(not lefty thread), remember to knock out the crimps before untightening. the differential bolts are star sockets. you also need a punch to knock out the cv shaft (less than 1cm diameter) once you have undone the differential bolts (raise clutch using jack to disconnect it from differential seating). Replacing the CV shaft is easier in general, because its very hard to fit an induction ring perfectly on a corroded shaft!.
Worked a treat....👍 thankyou. I used a 'shim' washer from my local parts store. 0.4mm thick. Wentin fasteners in Yeovil if you need the washer. You can order online.

Haven’t tried it yet but will, my traction light comes up on the straight and also on a left turn, right around roundabouts not affected. My question is could it be a front left sensor as well with a swollen ABS ring or is it only the rears that are affected by these types of faults?

Hi, I’ve done this trick gone for a test drive and the abs light has now come on, it wasn’t on before, does this mean the gap from the spacer is too big? Thanks for any help in advance
Hi aaanton11, I have tried this fix because I really would like to use my cruise control because I do long drives everyday. However, after doing this fix, my speedometer needle isn't moving, any thoughts on why that could be? I also got two new other lights on the dashboard, one looks like a seat belt warning light (but no audio alarm is heard) and another light on the dashboard which looks like an airbag light. Any thoughts of what this might be will be very much appreciated?
Thank you. Took 1 washer off and alll fine now. As i started to drive all lights went off on there own. Thank you. Hardest part is taking wheel on and off in this snow 😂
Is there a chance that this ring is entirely missing/not visible? :D Because on my side I cannot see the thing that you are seeing. It was a sudden death of the systems as I've been to the snowy mountain roads.
@aaanton11 I have the issue mentioned, but I can't see the ring in the hole. Is it possible that it broke? I can send a video. When I reconnected the sensor I was able to drive for about 50 meters, and then I got the DSC kick in like crazy(gas intervention) without any wheel spin, then it recorded the errors and stopped abs/dsc from functioning.

@@MegaPapout Hi. Yes i have repaired both sides behind. At first i tried with 0.5mm washers but it did not help. So i decided to try what is the real problem, namely rust and dirt on the abs rings. I took out the abs sensor, then i used a large sharp screwdriver that fit exactly in the hole for the abs sensor. Then i turned around the drive shaft, i did this on the brake discs, then i got rid of the roughest rust and dirt. Then i used sandpaper in grain size P60. You can cut it into thin strips and attach it to the front of a screwdriver, and then put it into the hole of the abs sensor. And then turn the drive shaft again. You also get to where you see the abs ring on the drive shaft. Mine was perfectly fine and shiny, and all the problems with the warning lights were gone. And it still works. I used the brake cleaner in the end, to get rid of rust and dust from the sandpaper

i keep getting same issue with abs sensor and traction control 318i se 2011 . both sensors were replaced last month. I have same lights come back up. i placed 1 washer on left rear (had signs already of scoring) which seemed to be the issue but i have lights come back up. i dont have a diagnostic tool to check if its the right (not checked sensor) now or left still. The washer was around 2mm. I will be getting garage to replace the reluctor ring. is it worth adding washer to the right side also. do they both need to sit same distance back from ring? could only having 1 sat further back send through weird data through?
2mm is too thick, it needs to be wafer thin, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 actually after measuring they were 1mm. i have bought 50x 0.1mm and see if i can use these. Does anyone know how much a garage will charge to remove corrosion from the area of old ring and replace with new one? would they use PVA or should i request this?
@@craigd8471 did you get that replacement done? how much was it
@@meer-cha4985 yes fixed by 2 new rear drive shafts. No issues since. They had a look at ring. But it was too corroded and shat would be affected when removing corrosion so a new ring would not fit well. So a new shaft both sides were solution. Shafts were around 180 each. Think i paid 660 total on final bill and it included something else they replaced for 30 quid
Nice video! I got 5D90 code , it said "DSC Wheel speed sensor : power supply, front left ... What does it means? Thanks
Could be a poor connection on the sensor plug or the sensor has failed, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi mate, I have the e90 2007 my car is also kicking only when I’m trying to moving off. I always hold the clutch for a bit and accelerate than it stop when Im on the moveget. It doesn’t happen all the time mainly when I’m driving it for a first time the next day. The engine light came on the dashboard and it’s still there. Sometime when I’m driving this symbol comes on it looks like unfinished circle with an arrow on it and inside the circle is a triangle with Exclamation mark. Can you help pls. Thank you
I will think this is your problem but to be sure you need to get a code reader and get some codes from the ECU then possibly use some spaces on those rear sensors Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi, what is the part number for the hex bolt on the ABS sensor? Mine is totally rusty and will need to be replaced.
Not a clue lol, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks for the guide , spot on 👍

Glad it helped! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi do you have the specifications of what size washer I should use?
the thinnest you can find, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hello, i got the same issue and tried with an Washer but now the dtc blinks more than before. I havent deleted any codes like you did, but is that nessesery? Or what do you think is wrong
try a thinner washer, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Haven’t tried it yet but will, my traction light comes up on the straight and also on a left turn, right around roundabouts not affected. My question is could it be a front left sensor as well with a swollen ABS ring or is it only the rears that are affected by these types of faults?
Just the rears for the swollen rings, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
This started happening to me yesterday only when driving now and again after I get washed the car. Could this be the start of it or could I spray contacted spray maybe bit of water got in. Helllpppp
Yes sounds like it I would add the small washers, mine is still ok going strong, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Hi, I’ve done this trick gone for a test drive and the abs light has now come on, it wasn’t on before, does this mean the gap from the spacer is too big? Thanks for any help in advance
most likely, the washer needs to be less than a millimetre, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I'll give this a try on my little brothers BMW hopefully we succeed because it is lacking power
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Lacking power then it’s either coil plugs or abs module
Hi aaanton11, I have tried this fix because I really would like to use my cruise control because I do long drives everyday. However, after doing this fix, my speedometer needle isn't moving, any thoughts on why that could be? I also got two new other lights on the dashboard, one looks like a seat belt warning light (but no audio alarm is heard) and another light on the dashboard which looks like an airbag light. Any thoughts of what this might be will be very much appreciated?
My English is bad but maybe you will understand. You used too fat ring on your bolt.
@@madoofmedaf9793 no worries. Thank you. I have taken the rings out now. I will have to find a really thin ring
Yes like madoof medaf says you need really thin washers Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
It’s the abs pump
Can anyone tell me which washer have you used, who fixed their cars? Is it m3, m4, m5 which one? Thanks.
Link to washers on amazon £6 amzn.to/3vTEemy the ideal thickness is .02mm Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 thanks. In amazon m2 thickness shows 0.5 mm. But you said .02. So i am confused now.
Would this stop the car starting altogether as my car went start now these lights have come on ?
No That would be a different issue, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great video pal, will give this a try!
Go for it!,Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Ive done this today but put 2 washers on. And now all abs lights are on. Have i moved the sensor too far away from ring. Thank you
yes, too far away, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thank you. Took 1 washer off and alll fine now. As i started to drive all lights went off on there own. Thank you. Hardest part is taking wheel on and off in this snow 😂
is your bumpstop gone? think that might be what causes the dust cover to be off-center
Yes they are getting worn, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi I have a mini R52 that keeps cutting the power and flushing the triangle warning light could this be the same fault?
More likely to be a faulty abs wheel sensor, you need a code reader to pin point which one, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
aaanton11 Thanks for the quick reply!!
Will any code reader show me all 4 sensors?
Would be cool if they made an aluminum manifold that covered the whole area. New rings seem like a big job.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
What size hex tool to remove the sensor bolt ??
I think is a 6mm i do mention it in the video, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I did both sides, but only the near side really needed doing. Car is running fine.
Thanks Kevin for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Very informative
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Is there a chance that this ring is entirely missing/not visible? :D Because on my side I cannot see the thing that you are seeing. It was a sudden death of the systems as I've been to the snowy mountain roads.
Some later models don't have the rings, but most do. Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I also forgot to mention it is a 330i 2005(e90).
What I meant by broke - fallen apart and just fly off the driveshaft.
I have an e93 335i and mine doesn't have a ring at all.... getting a 5dc2 code after hitting some water puddle in the rain. Replaced the sensor and still getting a code when hitting about 15mph
When replacing the sensor I didn't see a ring at all, finding no research on this.
It definitely has one on the drive shaft cv joint, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks mate, I’m pretty sure this is a good culprit as the whole behind wheel assembly (tell I’m not a mechanic 😆) is all quite rusty from previous owner letting it sit.. I do need to take ieach wheel off and wire brush and paint so will give this a look when it’s off… thanks again and subscribed
hopefully Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hello there
I have the same problem and I ordered new sensor 60€,and for LCI they said ther is no any ring?2009 year..
There os definitely a ring, most car parts outlets will only sell the complete driveshaft with the ring attached, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I have drivehaft both new and sensors I was erasing the errors then when I restarted the engine did something come up again?
what code did you get?, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 P0101 , P0112 the car works very well only it is annoying to see the Christmas tree lit on the dashboard
Hello, does this need to be done on only the right passenger side?
The passenger side one corrode more than the offside one due to it being near the curb and more puddles and water but they can both corrode you will need to check both sides Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I have the same problem on my e83. But not in sensors problems, detected that rear abs rings are destroyed. Thats why sensors also out of service. Solution is to change abs rings plus sensors. And i think 1 washer under every sensor also can be added.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Are the bmw rear wheel drives?
Where is best to buy the rings and sensors then?
Hi what size washer should I use for this please ? Thanks 😊

aaanton11 thanks a lot man. Appreciate it!
aaanton11 hi mate. Just tried this washer trick and now all my ABS, handbrake and stability control lights are on. Any ideas why that might be? Did I not tighten it enough or is there another issue? Thanks

Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Does this issue cause the car 2 shake when accelerating
not normally, that could be a wheel issue, ie buckled rim on the inside, or a duel mass flywheel issue, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I'm having a similar problem with the jerk but only happens when I do WOT(wide open throttle) and it won't let me go past 5k rpm only light i get is DSC and I can't manually turn it off using DTC only when I turn off and back on the car. Can that be a cause of a faulty Abs wheel sensor? Or the dsc module (which i hope its not)
Unlikely to be the module and more like a wheel sensor issue, those abs rings are definitely worth checking, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Can someone how knows response, does the sensor read the ring OR the axle under the ring through those wholes at the ring ??
it reads the ring, or the magnetic difference of the ring, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
aaanton11 "magnetic difference of the ring"! Well that explains why the corrosio/rust under the ring makes the error. Thank you!
So if you replace the sensor will it still cause a fault
it will if the ring is corroded, the ring will need replacing too, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Can you see the ring from underneath the car? could give it a bit of rub with a wired brush to take some of that rust off
no its hidden, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

I try this on my BMW e92 2007, but it not help. First i had only the flashing traction control lamp, after i do this in the video i have abs, dsc, dtc and tyrepressure lamp on. It comes and goes when i drive.
Take the washers out and use really thin ones sounds like you put 1mm washers in, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
tromidt do you repair it? How much mm spacing?
I used the brake cleaner in the end, to get rid of rust and dust from the sandpaper
tromidt thank you im going to do that ☺️
