      Keep in mind, this system can run on any power plant to run the generator portion. You may be driving a hydrogen or some other fuel car made by Edison someday or some other manufacturer

    I work in waste transport in Australia as a residential garbo, I would love to see the Edison idea put into practice in garbage trucks, I do whats called side arm for those who arent familiar, a mechanical hydraulic operated arm off the side of the truck for collecting bins by lifting them and dumping them into a hopper. Doing stop start between collections and working in dense residential areas of major urban areas early mornings, having the electric capabilities would mean I could service areas quietly under electric power then when I am ready to unload at a waste facility the batteries could recharge off the diesel during driving when I'm away from populated areas.
    Many people complain about the noise of our trucks of a morning and we'd reduce the potential for complaints and have instant power for getting moving between stopping effectively increasing our efficiency

      Yes, but minor changes maybe. The hood is really big for maintanance, but it is an obsticle in your way of sight. So maybe chop it down 30 cm? Maybe only the front with a grade. Would still have a lot of corners and look cool. And maybe chop the cabin, so that the driver can reach everything. It looks too high, especially when driving solo. When you said you ran it up to 90, I was shocked, that is fast! But then realized you meant kph not mph like in the US. Lol.

    • @kimpatz2189
      @kimpatz2189 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      90kph in Asia or any parts of the world is pretty damn fast. Most of the trucks here are governed to 80kph. But some just outright reach 100+kph disregarding public safety especially when roads are already narrow compared to American standards.

    I remember from your EU tour you liked the cab having airbags on all four corners. Any chance you plan on doing that? I'd imagine in logging that'd be nice.

    After some time, it would be amazing if the system could give details on system health without an OBD2. With everything being easier to get to and repair, it would also be great to make it easier for operators to make more repairs without a shop. The only types of jobs that deter me from my own work are the ones that require hours or even days of teardown and rebuilding. Those jobs also make a lot of downtime. It's hard to say how busy a shop is at any given moment and priority can be expensive.

    Dang, I can't wait to see Topsy pulling some logs! Just the picture of Topsy with a shitload of logs behind going uphill....
    Also ever thought of a cabover? I know there are some going electric in Europe but I'd love seeing an Edison here too!

    I love what you guys have done the past few years. Can I get your opinion on the ramcharger comming out next year? Its a smaller version of Topsy for the retail truck market. I hope to get one asap. There is not much updated info for the past few months on that truck that I can find. Thanks guys.

    When you apply the regen braking, does it apply the brake lights? I had this question with a Tesla I haven’t had answered.
    Following a Tesla down a steep mountain and I felt as if it was slowing significantly beyond what a car with the automatic transmission just taking part of the load on coasting.
    I know your vehicles will be heavier, but it seems like a valid question from somebody who has had weird experiences driving behind a vehicle slowing with regen braking.

    • @jonfurse3931
      @jonfurse3931 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most heavy duty trucks don't have the brake lights come on with the engine brake. Regen serves the same purpose with the Edison.

    It should save on brakes to some extent but most truckers primarily use the engine brake anyways so brakes aren’t a real common thing to have to replace. I’ve heard electrics are harder on tires though and tires are way more expensive than brakes. No matter what you’re driving there is always gonna be parts that need to be replaced at certain intervals, tires, brakes, etc. The biggest savings will be fuel prices.

    Depending on a Jake Brake on a hill seems safer than depending on some programmer coding in a different Country. If they trusted your company, you would have access to all of the source code as well as programming tools. I realize you are a small company but if you don't have root access, you are not in command.

      Yeah, much as I love Edison and what they're doing, those modules are suspect that they can't fix them remotely. Like he said 30 minutes to get them in and out, but that's ignoring they had to send a dude to china on a plane for them to fix them. Of course I know it's because they couldn't find something in Canada and it's just how the cookie crumbles. But hopefully a better solution is found.
