YOU ARE ME, I AM YOU!!! great video bro from coming from my A7111 having to use HLG and worry using slog 2 because the 8bit To now using my fx3, wanting the full capability of the amazing S log-3 back from having such a bad experience previously this video really helps break down and help me understand the more technical videos I've been watching so thank you !!!!
Just for the record when you say if run and gun shooting without a face keep it at 90 + 5 , did you mean 70+ 5 ? I know the lower limit should be at 94+ in s log 3, but I think your standard range was set at 70+ 5 as that c1, but at 11:22 you say keep it at 90+5 , which one are you talking about , kind of confused me ! Cheers ! I’m in BC by the way too 🙌
Sorry, must have slipped up. 94+ for general use, 70+5 for faces. I would try to use false colour though, as you’ll get a better, more accurate representation of highlights and shadows. For example, SLOG3 pretty much caps out at 94ire(bright yellow) on the false colour, and 75ish( middle grey) is where you want your skin tones to be. It’s different for every monitor, but I’d recommend using a monitor if you can!
Thanks for the great video! How do you recommend shooting long videos, outdoors, with changing light, with no one behind the camera? Is there a auto exposure function that works well?
For me hlg3 hasn‘t really worked out that well. Hlg3 gives me really weird redish skin tones which are a real pain in the neck to fix every time. Haven‘t really found a solution to this yet. So I found your previous video on slog2 sony 8bit cameras really helpful! Thanks a lot!
for these luts, because I keep hearing about 8 bit. Slog 2 folder is for the older Sony cameras with 8 bit and the slog 3 folder is for the newer cameras with 10 bit?
SLOG3 you get that 12800 ISO and better highlight recovery. But don’t get me wrong, s-Cinetone is sick. Tbh I haven’t played around with it but I want to because it would be nice for quick turnaround
it is my humble opinion that SLOG3 is good and all, but more important is to learn how to properly expose. period. lighting control, composition, and location have alot to do with the final image. you can use proper exposure. (not blow out your highlights/not underexpose) without SLOG 3, and then achieve the cinematic look through luts or custom color grading you are , after all adjusting exposure, brightness, contrast, midtones colors, highlights, highlights colors, and shadows and shadows colors. i feel people's videos are really starting to look the same, with everyone recording in logs (slog/cine ei for sony) and using the same (other people's luts) to edit their footage. which defeats the purpose of being creative somewhat. really really great videos out there , but they're mostly looking the same-y at this point. (same-y , meaning great/beautiful but hardly standing out from a million other videographers.
Thank you so much! This was a fun collab, and your video turned out great!!
Best, Eric! :)
Woo!! This was so fun ☺️🙌🏻⚡️ thanks for being so talented
Love the calm vibe of your videos. Please never stop making these! 😍

Wow, this was a big help and helped me to demystify the fear of shooting in SLOG.
Credit to you my friend this video is very informative. Keep up the good work.
This channel is way underrated.
Thank you thank you!!

@@BryceKoebel thanks for the help !
6:54 omg this shot is so satisfying
Great video, I just wonder what is the font you used in the thumbnail of the video?
Thanks for the great video!

Is there a auto exposure function that works well?
Standard range should ne 52+-3 for S log 3 in my openion
The best intro ever. Super helpful video Bryce!
🥹🥹🥹 thank you matt
how do you exposure slog3 outside when the multimeter jumps up/down multiple stops on the metering mode?
Great content! Appreciate the insight.
What do u use to color grade

Amazing I'm so glad it worked!!
So you only shoot at either base iso? Thanks
for these luts, because I keep hearing about 8 bit. Slog 2 folder is for the older Sony cameras with 8 bit and the slog 3 folder is for the newer cameras with 10 bit?
That is correct my friend 🙌🏻
Really good videos, glad to be your subscriber. ☺☺
Great content Bryce, easy to watch and super informative
Thank you so much!! that means a lot :)
How did you iso set 640 for slog 3... i have tried but not dawn under 800 . Actually i use d sony a 6300..can you guide me
640 is for certain cameras like the a7s3 or FX3
@@BryceKoebel okay dear thank you i was struggling with sony a7s2
why can't you crank shutter at 12800 if it's a slower shot? or static?
You can! I just don’t usually think about that. I’m sure it would be better for colour grading because you don’t need an ND with a static shot

PP8 is missing now from my FX3??
Sameee any update ?
Yeah its kinda been replaced with Cine EI. google that and check it out! @@bikinibottombadboys5147
Isnt the base ISO 1 of A7S3 and FX3 800 and not 640?
Nope it’s 640. The a7iv is 800
When lenses do you own for A7S III / FX3?
Sigma 24-70 and the Tamron 17-28!
Great video Bryce! Honest question? Why shoot slog3 with minimal edits when you could just use s-cinetone?
SLOG3 you get that 12800 ISO and better highlight recovery. But don’t get me wrong, s-Cinetone is sick. Tbh I haven’t played around with it but I want to because it would be nice for quick turnaround
Aye fam! Discount code isn’t working 😢
Sorry! It should be working now so try again! ❤🩹
I enjoyed it Weldon’s bro
