Manipulating samples versus synths are 2 different worlds. I use Koala and Blocs Wave for sample based sound design. Both have their strengths. Like you, price is a factor for me so I have Digital D1, FM Player 2, FM Essentials, Synth One and Korg Gadget, but lately I’m most impressed with AniMoog Z, and BLEASS Monolit. For FX I’m pretty pleased with IK Multimedia MixBox.
Cool rundown, thanks. Can highly recommend Sugarbytes Turnado. It's a multi FX processor designed for real-time playing and beat mashing. It's kind of like a Korg Kaoss Pad, but with loads more options. I love it for stuttering glitchy effects, but it does a whole lot more.
Thanks! I have been digging back into Turnado in the last month or so and I am integrating it into my new set up. Also VoiceFX Live, which I am finding has nice applications beyond just voice actually.
@@LiveLoopers If i had 30 projects setup from a base template but then wanted to make a change to that base template, do i have to manually go through each project and make the change or is there some great way to copy it to all projects? Specifically update the kick drum in koala across a load of projects
@@mikaelwills That was the whole reason I started using modules. I think you have to make the change in all, but at least you can copy things to the clipboard in one project and paste in another.
FAC envolver is awesome…. Although loopy has envelope follow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You should not miss SynthMaster 2 The Yonac apps - are very good - trooper and Magellan 2 And if you haven’t coughed up for DrumComputer… - save up. It’s rad, but don’t overlook the sampler section… go in. There &. Import some kichs and big 808s. Makes a huge difference
I have the same problem with koala crashing all the time as a plug-in. And then to loose all your work as it starts as an empty project is the worst part. Im afraid the price structure is necessary to fund the development and I agree it should be clearly advertised. I like you video’s, thank you!
I can see some rationale for the price structure. Not everyone has to pay for features they don't need that way. But for someone like myself who purchased Koala to use it in Loopy Pro it's definitely a shock to find out I have to pay nearly double before I can use it as an audio unit. I have been using it in stand alone mode to make a small kit of 4 to six sounds that I like in just one bank and then saving the project. Then I go into Loopy Pro and load it in the audio unit. If it crashes I reload the project, but that's been allowing me to make some instrument samples. I also find koala handy for making one shot samples that I can load directly into Loopy Pro pads.
So many people bring up drambo so often, I'm still trying to understand what does it do? Also, thanks for so many great suggestions. That is a lot to go on.
@@LiveLoopers it’s a modular groove box/synth/sampler. It does all the things and does it in a similar but better (imo)way than Elektron gear like Octatrack.
@@LiveLoopers I take it you don’t know the Elektron trigless trigs and suchlike. It’s pretty intuitive for people with the hardware experience but can be a bit to wrap your head around without that bit of background.
I can empathize with the fact that it's hard to find a profitable price structure as an app developer but I was pretty heated to find out that I paid for it and then had to pay again just to get the functionality that I thought I was paying for in the first place.
There was a couple years in which Koala was not an auv3. It was such a requested feature, it was eventually added. Much like the new samples, Samurai update, and the forthcoming Chocolate update. There have been many features that have been added for free, like stem extraction.
Sorry about the extreme face shadows I do believe my child has misplaced my fill light at present. Just pretend it's an old black n white film?
Wow, Numa Player is EXCELLENT, with level controls RIGHT THERE in the left part of the screen, by the on-off switch! Thank you!!
I know! I was like "Wow! Where have you been all my life?!?!?"
Thank you so much for this video!
You’re welcome!

Yes. I long to be in both worlds: Synths and samples!

Is there an app where you can load a one shot sample into and it will sequence it and play it on everybeat and you can sync it to the loopy pro clock?
Koala Sampler will let you do that. Digisticks2 from 4pockets also does that kind of thing.
@@LiveLoopers Awesome thank you, just setup koala and its working perfectly

Other Desert Cities delay, 7 dollars US, is great. Also, Gatestep and Filterstep come in free and very handy
THANKS! I will be checking out gatestep and filterstep as soon as I can. What makes Desert Cities Delay worth it in your opinion?
@@LiveLoopers It's reverse delay and granular delay are easy to control and are really musical. I've had no crash issues
Awesome! I love the sound of good granular delay.

I will look up Synthmaster 2, I keep hearing people suggesting it.
PureSynthPlatinum is awesome as well.
Thanks. Looking it up now.

I know a lot of people like Koala. You might want to take a look at Cameleon.
dRambo, BLEASS Omega, BLEASS Phase Mutant, Zeeon, Fab Filter everything, kqDixie, iVS3, Kajita, Ripplemaker, Bit Juggler to name a few.

I mostly like to steer clear of sequencers and drum grids but it sounds like I need to watch a few more drambo videos and get a fuller sense of it.

Agree with your Koala take: These guys are selling an incomplete app and charging you double our triple the price to get the complete app.
