I’m surprised people are not talking much about how the lens is only 28mm. It’s still a great drone. But I’m making the leap from phantom 4 which had nearer to 21mm lens. And it makes me feel a bit uneasy. That’s why I’m tempted to go for zoom which has 24mm.
The Usb Type C cable for the andorid phone , it get disconnected even if i touch it a little bit mid flight , i got little bit disapointed because is brand new
I have experience with the Inspire 2 / X7 and Mavic Pro because of compression on youtube I can't seem to find an answer to this question. Do you think the Dynamic Range and Sharpness of a Mavic 2 Pro in h.265 Log will measure up to the h.264 capability of the inspire 2?
Personally, i don't think so.. the difference between the X7 and the Mavic 2 Pro sensor is night and day, so i don't think the codec will matter at all :)
@@WalkaboutLife something many people won't understand, including me. The thing is, most people won't notice the quality difference anyway because their phone/tablet/television/pc screens aren't better then 1080p. Stupid, dumb world! And then, so many people are poor, can't afford food. Sad!
I'm not sure if anyone else mentions it, but the Mavic 2 is a platform. The flight characteristics, battery life, propellers, and other features are identical between the Mavic 2 Zoom, Pro, and Enterprise. The only difference is the camera. If you go in thinking you'll get a better drone with the Pro over the Zoom, you won't. You get a different camera on the same drone.
Thanks for making this video! What level of ND filter should we use to attain the best result - or does it depend on how bright the sky is? There are packs for sale that cut the light from 2-4 stops and ones that cut the light by 7-10 stops, which do you recommend?
Funny thing is and the part i have learned with all these cool stuff (Action cams, Gimballs, Drones etc) for the most of us ( so thats non proffesional) its not about the stuff you have its about the place you are, learn it with the basics, perspective is way more important than a 300, 600 or a 1200+ costing drone.
Mike, I finally got a chance to use the LUT you’ve so graciously linked. OMG, thank you. This is the BEST LUT I’ve ever used. Very nice work and thank you!!!!!
You may want to consider shooting in HQ mode instead of Full FOV. DJI has given the M2P in inferior sampling algorithm in for processing the full frame footage (so that it does not compete, and cause loss of sales with the P4P). Once they retire the P4P and go to the P5 I'm sure they'll upgrade the M2P algorithm to what the P4P is now using. The HQ mode crop is 1:1 ratio for 4K, thus there is no sampling involved and the 4K footage in HQ has been shown to be superior in detail than the full FOV footage (that's why they named it High Quality). Oh, and you get less barrel distortion in HQ mode as well. Cheers!
Hi, Many thanks for your review, I liked it very much. but I don't understand how you will be able to fly with this drone in Europe longer than 2k, because whatever I do I can not reach 5k which you mentioned in your video. do you have any Idea how can I achieve this range? I am really upset that i did buy this drone for reaching 7k range and now I can not even reach 3 or 4k . somewhere I read about fake GPS application that I can use for extending the range of flight in Europe but it seems that it doesn't work on the iPhone. I appreciate a lot if you answer my question. Cheers
I am looking to get a Mavic 2 Pro this week. Question for experienced drone owners: how common are accidents/crashes and do you purchase drone insurance?
I would have to say many many hours. The reason being are the brushless motors and the natural sine waves generated by the Mavic's computers. The Mavic Pro (Standard) used a different wave that was a pulsed or square wave. Since motors naturally spin in a circular motion, it is fitting that it should have a sinusoidal or sine wave as it was originally generated by AC motors at the power plant. Hope this helps.
I've been looking into buying a drone for the past 2-3 years but haven't made up my mind yet. I would use it mostly for recreational purposes outdoors when camping, hiking, travel, etc. Not planning on uploading or sharing content really. Would you recommend this drone for a first time user? Is it too much, too difficult? I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.
I find that using my inspire two with the Zen muse Ask for S I don’t have to do as much editing using this particular camera the X5S simply blows the Mavic two pro camera out the water
My Mavic 2 Pro was the best I’ve had so far. However after charging the 4 batteries about 30-40 times they became swollen and had to be replaced. I sold the drone as is but just to say if you don’t mind buying new batteries it can last a long time.
I got the M2P w/ Smart Controller. I hope you don’t mind me reviewing the controller here in this comment. Yea, I got the Mavic to turn my Nikon FE2 into a display piece. Now I can fly the lens around, and control it with the camera back. I get the whole photography approach, and yes sir, manual settings have always been the way to go. But this Smart Controller has been keeping me busy and I haven’t got to really enjoy flying the drone yet. The folks that got the controller you add your phone to, are having a way better time than us unsuspecting SC users. The SC won’t talk to cellphones, fair enough, there’s one in it running Android 7.1.2. So for Live Streaming, forget it. Android has you locked out cuz Dji locked us out. Even Google has a few white papers on tayloring Android and how they’re trying to sway folks away from doing so. Don’t know why DJI would lock users out of a cellphone as their controller systems are designed around a fully functional phone. Ya can’t even adjust the text on the screen so you can read it. You folks without Smart Controllers for the Mavic 2 series, hold off! It ain’t right yet. Those who can jailbreak cellphones would have a better chance with success. Research! I don’t know if I will try jailbreaking my SC but I’ll at least look into it. If the usb port is for mem sticks and cell phones, its also for device communication. Should be able to share my cell connection with SC through USB, and can’t. SC users should be able to do as non-SC users, except without having to add a cell phone. Dji’s Go4 app doesn’t talk to Apple devices with their own app installed. I been creative, figuring out ways to get videos and pictures off the drone faster, so far is pull the card and put it in the SC and transfer files through GoShare wifi hotspot. And like I said no live streaming, can’t install anything to support app. Also, you have no control over power management like you would on your cellphone. Battery life could last longer, and displays wouldn’t hurt so much at night when low ambient lights are necessary. So enough about the SC controller. Sorry, spent all day discovering strategies that didn’t work It’s a fairly solid controller, good weight, sturdy, and comfortable. Nice design, but don’t fit in the Fly More case if I’m to protect the drone batteries. And the SC won’t fit anywhere else except that one compartment. Glad I only got 3 batteries for now, sure got crowded when I moved my drone stuff into it. So, I’m kind of a geek... One suggestion I have is the SC controller has a HDMI port, probably broadcast only. Anyway, and the SC has the big micro usb plug (heh, like some Android devices I’ve seen). Sony is getting nice with their tech, seems they’re trying to open their VR platform. Could I really fly my drone on my property from my living room in PSVR someday? I've seen a lot of Mavic 2 reviews but man I have to tell you, yours are some of the best. I find then quit easy to watch and very understandable. Btw, amazing shots and videos.
Has mavic 2 pro got a zoom feature? I had my first and only drone which was the mavic 2 zoom. Had it just under 4 weeks there, crashed and killed it. Id love another drone. I loved the fact that my drone could zoom so far but the picture from what i can see is alot better on the pro. Has the pro got any zoom and if so, do i need to be so close people will notice?
Hey Stephen! No, to Mavic 2 Pro does not have zoom like your previous drone, you can only crop-in the footage digitally in your editing software afterwards, but i guess that's not what you're asking. So if you're looking for the same "effect" - the Zoom is the only drone that has that, besides the Parrot Anafi, but the Zoom is much better overall in my opinion.
@@DroneSupremacy thanks for the reply!. Ive spent hours and hours watching vids not being able to decide which was for me. Ive finally made up my mind. If i can hit a 200ft tower on the top of a mountain, the only one thing for endless miles..... i think i need the zoom feature lol. Cheers buddy
Drone Supremacy : what do you say about the missing shutter speed control and only the aperture can be controlled via the controller back roller and for iso and shutter speed you need to tap the screen. i think this is awful!!! the old mavic1 pro with old dji go4 can switch the roller controller function via C1 button from shutter to iso..
Can I ask you something? And hopefully you reply. With this nice shot and videos, how did you able to fly on these areas...? I mean are all they good to go? B4UFLY? Or you did request a waiver or ask the FAA?
Nice review, just want to ask you: i heard that if you use the drone full speed for long time the batteries puff out so they get off the Mavic in middle air. Did you try it full throttle for let said 1 minute?
One thing I can't understand and I have one M2P as well, is why the drone can't take pictures while filming??? Every smartphone can do that, and a drone professional. Like this can't?
This is by no means a professional feature. Keep in consideration that the format is different between photo (3:2) and Video (16:9) and that video requires different processing (subsampling from 20MP to 4K and decoding to H.264/H.265). You could of course just save a frame of the video as JPG but this would end up in a totally different quality.
I know the feeling. I once sold my guitar and amp because I needed the money. I broke an unwritten musicians law by doing that. Never again. I sold it to keep a business deal going ,that flopped.
3:25 I disagree with your definition of professional grade equipment. Professional's don't want to spend a lot of time grading because it takes up too much time of their "profession" (time=money)
Thank you for this honest review. Can you confirm whether or not the M2P has the tilted horizon issue that seems to plague all drones. I imagine you know that the tilted horizon is different than the barrel distortion.
I'm kind of sad because I bought the pro 1 and then suddenly they decided to announce and release a pro 2. so I don't know what to do. Should I sell the pro 1 to get the pro 2? Which one is better ? And if not better, is the pro 1 outdated?
Of course the newer one is better, but it all depends how much you really "need" the newer version. Many people create outstanding photos & videos with the original Mavic Pro and don't consider it necessary to upgrade. The original one is definitely not outdated, it just depends what you use it for.
After dealing and trying to fix firmware update issues a dozen times (like many), I've decided not to purchase any DJI product again and will advise all my friend to do so as well. Looking at Autel evo 2 pro now.
Thank you very much for your review. One question which filters can you recommend and which filters do you use more often the polarpro shutter or the polarpro vivid? Can`t decide between this two and would be very happy about help :-) Thank you very much in advance. Cheers Mark
Chris Meuzelaar I saw that Adobe Premier has horizon correction as a workaround. It’s just pixels, so it can be ‘adjusted’, not like a negative. Maybe Lightroom or Photoshop will do that, too, I just haven’t used them yet...I’m new to drone photography with my Mavic 2.
Chris Meuzelaar: DXO is pretty useful at £99 one off payment. Though at the moment it doesnt support the dng files from the Mavic 2 Pro. But I am sure it will eventually.
Here I am on the other side of the world, having almost forgotten my home town, just looking at the new mavic, and then I see this video. You just made my day mate. Шашна ме човек, Варна още ли е в ремонти?
Nice update!👍 the problem I have as a newer flyer (I have the Zoom) using manual settings is that when you’re turning you need to redo the settings. Seems like I have to do that often which messes with the video. Makes editing harder in my opinion. Any way of getting around this? Thanks Mike!
Not really.. if you want to film in manual settings that's a sacrifice you have to make, and adapt the settings according to each shot. It sucks.. but that's how it is.
Great review, thanks. I'm not sure if I missed something about the focus issue that I'm having, every time I try to take a video, I have to press on the point of interest where my focus point is, and if I don't, then that area is always blurry. Tried the AF but that did not help. Also the focus time is so slow to a point that its very noticeable when reviewing the video footage... When I had the Mavic Air, I had no problem like that. Any idea or help?
Great video. Do you use Premiere or Apple's editor? I'm leaning toward Premiere due to the monthly fee versus 300 bucks upfront for Apples software. Any thoughts?
If you have the option to save a bit more and get the Pro - YES, do it! The difference in terms of flying is massive and so much worth it in my opinion.
I've sold my MA because of annoying compass calibration issue and flight range is also limited. If you have chance, save more or even better Mavic Pro original is better signal.
Great video - loved it,. I’m new to drones and about to purchase my first one, so I found this video very helpful. A question for anyone in the know. Is a Magic Air a good starting drone or should I go straight to the Magic 2 Pro ? Anyone ? Thanks Marty from Australia
Hey Marty! The Air is a great starter drone, although you don't necessarily need it as a beginner. The Mavic 2 Pro is just as good for a beginner, and it has a better range, better battery and better camera. If the price doesn't bother you, i'd advise you to go straight to the Mavic 2 Pro!
Did I see a flyover of the Sports palace and the Naval academy in Varna, Bulgaria??? I was born not too far from there... great video and nice edit!!! Keep the coming

4:36 What is the place?!! PLEASE TELL ME!
Does Mavic 2 Pro has similar annoying compass calibration of MA? Flight signal should be much greater than Mavic Air as you mentioned, I believe.
No compass calibration issues at all. And yes, coming from the Air the difference is quite massive!
Great information. I'm trying to decide which Mavic Pro to buy. I'm leaning towards the Zoom version
Can I ask you something? And hopefully you reply. With this nice shot and videos, how did you able to fly on these areas...? I mean are all they good to go? B4UFLY? Or you did request a waiver or ask the FAA?
FAA is in the US. I’m on the other side of the world where rules are less strict :)
That's Bulgaria! Love the Black Sea coastline in Nessebar. Great review bro!
Hello, Hope you are well. I am completely lost with video editing. Also with setting my mavic 2 pro video settings. Help.... lol
That's odd considering even like a Potensic D80 can take photos in video mode
Awesome review!! Sending some sub love from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
I use the Mavic 2 Pro for all my videos. I love it!
Hi, where in Europe can you fly over 5km away? In Czechia, I can only legally fly as far as I can see the drone.
If you don't get CAUGHT you can do whatever you feel like!
had problems with the freewell nd filters fit and finish. ended up with the dji nd filters and they function flawlessly.
Your videos are absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations. I'm following you. Thanks for the useful information.
What drone do you recommend
Really miss my Mavic Pro Platinum. Had to sell it cause I needed the money at the time but, Man do I miss it.
I know the feeling. I once sold my guitar and amp because I needed the money. I broke an unwritten musicians law by doing that. Never again. I sold it to keep a business deal going ,that flopped.
Looking forward to getting this drone! Have things improved with the software features?
Absolutely. It's still one of the best drones you can get, even 2 years later.
This one now how much plz let me know
Have they came out with any of the promises or wants that you mentioned since your origianl post?
Yes there has been some development and we have most of the things I wanted now, but not all. But the drone is slowly getting better, that’s for sure
Are DJI drones made in China? Does the operating software download data back to the manufacture?
Where do you recon I should buy it
The official DJI website is the best place :)
Hello from Greece . I need the link or the model of your back pack. Thank you
It’s linked in the description! :)
Cheers Mark
Hi, Thank you for the review, if you take a raw 20mp photo, is there barrel distortion?
Yes, a slight distortion is always visible in the corners of the photo, so you'll need to crop it a bit!
Thanks
Chris Meuzelaar I saw that Adobe Premier has horizon correction as a workaround. It’s just pixels, so it can be ‘adjusted’, not like a negative. Maybe Lightroom or Photoshop will do that, too, I just haven’t used them yet...I’m new to drone photography with my Mavic 2.
Hi Paul, thanks! I have Adobe Elements, but trying to find a better program I don't have to pay a subscription on :) I prefer a one off cost
Chris Meuzelaar: DXO is pretty useful at £99 one off payment. Though at the moment it doesnt support the dng files from the Mavic 2 Pro. But I am sure it will eventually.
out of topic and drones.. what do you think about the PANASONIC LUMIX G85? just looking for a good 4k camera video mainly!
I'm quite happy with it, I've been using it for almost a year now and I've been pretty satisfied with the quality and the performance of the camera :)
What is the widest aperture?
2.8
Here I am on the other side of the world, having almost forgotten my home town, just looking at the new mavic, and then I see this video. You just made my day mate.
Шашна ме човек, Варна още ли е в ремонти?
Haha so glad to read this! Glad you found me then :)
Да, за съжаление цялата е разкопана, надявам се скоро да се пооправи положението! :)
Български дрон ентусиаст, при това от моят град - какви са шансовете, сериозно. Ако се прибера задължително бира! 😂
Does the pro 2 have a zoom feature?
RPier83 no, the pro 2 zoom does
Nice video. I'm loving the Mavic 2 Pro. It's incredible where I've been able to fit it and shoot with from India to Colorado
It's better for the battery to not use up the last 20%. Hybrid cars keep some charge in their LiPo batteries to extend the lifespan
Great video. Do you use Premiere or Apple's editor? I'm leaning toward Premiere due to the monthly fee versus 300 bucks upfront for Apples software. Any thoughts?
I’m using Final Cut Pro, if you’re in for the long run it’s actually cheaper to buy this :)
Blackmagic Resolve 14, total free sans special effects, a few years ago the software was 30k and only used by Hollywood.
This might be a dumb question, not sure😂 but what editing software do you use to edit your photos🤔
How does it make sense that the image gets sharper when opening up the aperture??
Every lens is usually the sharpest 1-2 closer than fully open.
F22 will give you higher depth of field. But won't be shaper than f4 on your focused subjects
i have a question for you dear? i saved some money to buy the mavic air and i want to know if it's better to save more and buying mavic pro 2?
If you have the option to save a bit more and get the Pro - YES, do it! The difference in terms of flying is massive and so much worth it in my opinion.
thanks a lot
Good choice! :)
I've sold my MA because of annoying compass calibration issue and flight range is also limited. If you have chance, save more or even better Mavic Pro original is better signal.
I wanna buy cheap mini drone under $50 for my little brother.,, and youtube recommending me this video., 🙈🙈
Lol
got my little brothers snaptain H823H micro drones and they're awesome.
You are not gonna find a more than mediocre drone for 50 bucks dude. Seriously that’s stupid man
Sonn Laoly Eachine E520 from banggood
You’re such a sweet brother
I got my dji mavic 2 pro..please help me to fly it thank you
how much is the dj1 mavic 2 pro worth ?
Are you flying out of site? Is that legal in Europe?
Drone Supremacy thanks for the quick resonate mate really appreciate it. Looks like I’m buying a Mavic 2 Pro 😊👏🏻👍
Did I see a flyover of the Sports palace and the Naval academy in Varna, Bulgaria??? I was born not too far from there... great video and nice edit!!! Keep the coming
