You do not have to buy an Apple TV subscription in order to make use of all of its features you just have to create and apple account if you do not already have one, now if you are talking about Apple TV (content) like the movies and tv shows from apple then yes that part does require a monthly subscription in order to use ( it does usually come with a free trial period) and if you are an apple multi-device user then you might also take a look into getting an Apple One subscription which will give you Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple iCloud, Apple News, Apple Games, and Apple Fitness for one low cost of 37.95 a month.
My wife and I have been using Apple TVs since the first generation way back in 2007-2008. We have Apple TV 4K (ATV-4K) setups on all 4 of our televisions. This past week, I just switched-out the Spectrum Cable Box for a 64GB ATV-4K (3rd Gen) and haven't looked back -- it saves me $26.49 monthly (Cable Box + DVR Service). You raise some good points. I agree there are a lot of features that work well and have 2 Apple TVs. Just wish with all the storage that movies can be downloaded to local storage like on an iPad or iPhone.
i completely agree on everything you said. i basically got it to pair my homepods but man the apple tv is amazing. is such a beautiful device, its hella fast, the quality of the content you watch, the ecosystem, using my airpods/airpdos max is just instantly. i have a 4k tv that is like 8 years old and it wasn’t fast, in fact i used the fire tv 4k but the apple tv is far way better. its expensive but if you’re in the ecosystem its a must have.
only requirement for what you are wanting to plug it into is that it has an HDMI input as that's what the Apple TV utilizes for its connection, now mind you if you are looking for the ultimate experience that comes from an Apple TV 4K you want to at the very least plug it into a 4k compatible TV (recommended not mandatory)
literally any HDMI cable would be compatible with it, if you are getting into quality concerns about the different brands that's really just preference but I can tell you if your paying more than 40-50 dollars on an HDMI cable then your overpaying in this day and age, if your looking for a good mid-quality cable between 4-6ft I would look at Monster Brand cables usually decent price, and good quality at its price point

I just bought one after 14 years of Roku devices. I could have bought the latest Roku Ultra, which finally has HDMI 2.1, but Roku gets 70% of its revenue from being an ad billboard. The Apple TV 4K is NOT an ad billboard, and with the built-in power supply, enough weight that it doesn't slide all over the place, and NO Wall Wart! Operationally, there is no comparison. Does anyone know the difference between the 64 vs 128 GB Apple TV (2022) apart from storage and the fact that it has an Ethernet cable? Is there any other difference?
The difference is just the storage, but besides that the difference as well is that the expensive Apple TV has matter support and an Ethernet port while the cheaper version does not, besides that both are the same.
I prefer Google tv due to the algorithm since it's already built into my other tvs. The one thing that would get me to buy Apple Tv is if it upscaled 1080 to 4k.
I agree with most of your review it’s a great product but you overlooked it’s prime function to purchase movies and tv shows via the Apple TV Store. I currently have 4 x A1842(64GB) Apple TV’s running IOS 18.0 and I have instant 4K movie playback with no buffering but recently and unfortunately this is where Apple has ruined the interface and the experience from its original 2 apps “Movies iTunes and TV Shows iTunes” by combining it into the single Apple TV UI. The Store and library UI menu, layout and options are heavily skewed to movies not TV shows, you simply don’t get the options as before. I have also noticed apps such as TH-cam are not running as smoothly as it once did but I hope this will change with the IOS 18.1 update. I wish reviewers would call out Apple for ruining the experience of purchasing Movies and TV shows and the Purchased Library and make suggestions on how they could improve the current UI?….
if your buying the 4K option I would also hook it up to your internet through ethernet cable as well quality difference can be night and day depending on the quality of your connection most WiFi is okay but hardwire is always better option, also if your not familiar with apple products and their OS it might be a slight learning curve at first but def a better user experience in my opinion.
I love my Apple TV 4K, but I found out that on my 4K 120hz oled tv, content looks better using apps in my tvs built in os. I’m guessing it has to do with the Apple 4K not supporting 120hz? But honestly LGs Web OS on my Lgc4 tv is just as fast, even on my older c2 tv in my bedroom, it still runs fast, the Apple TV 4K is just tiny bit faster, but tv apps don’t suck anymore! Especially LGs Web os! Also the lg tvs also do hdr and Dolby vision…
120Hz has nothing to do with it, that's simply the screen refresh rate. When you watch a film it's 23.976. Look at how Apple does things with ProMotion - adaptive 120. THIS VLOG is shot at 25fps - if it played as a 120 it would not match and you'd get judder when panning and poor movement. I have the C4 and the Apple TV is far better for picture & audio. How do you have you ATV set up? Here's mine... SDR 60, Frame Rate & Match Content ON, Croma 4:4:4:4 I'm not impressed with Web OS, laggy, over complicated and I hated the remote control that was full of buttons too close to each other. The ATV remote is perfect IMO (and that's from using the BANG&OLUFSEN Beo4 which I felt WAS the best remote on the market of all time). Try and AirPlay from your iPhone a 4K 60fps video - the LG is a sticky mess - it drops to 27fps and becomes low res - the ATV is buttery smooth - it even pays 4K 60 UNCOMPRESSED flawlessly :)
I have an LG OLED TV as well and the OS on it is so damn slow it's ridiculous.. Apple TV looks better imo and always has. Especially when playing movies.. I don't know of any TV no matter how much money it is that has a nice smooth fast OS.. I don't think that's their concern either.. I mean I could be wrong. I feel bad for anyone that doesn't really know anything about the Apple TV and might think it's pointless or something.. It's quick and smooth most of the time too.. It's so simple and easy to use and set up as well. No way I can go without one now lol. The best remote I've ever had for any type of device.. And obviously you know that Apple TVs have HDR's along with Dolby vision too. The remote that comes with most LG TVs are straight garbage too. Plastic crap that always makes noises like it's going to break when ya hold it 😂🤷♂️ like I said the Apple TV remote is just awesome.
what's the actual question? I mean 2 separate systems one wouldn't be dependent on the other to function if your asking which is better between the two it really depends on what your wanting to get out of the Apple TV if you are going app for app quality wise probably very similar quality but two different interfaces if you have other apple products though and are looking to sync them to the TV or interface with them on the TV then Apple TV is the best way to go (personal opinion) if not then I would probably stick with the PS5 and leave it at that
so essentially, the apple tv will replace the "smart" function of a high quality tv that way you will always have a good picture with fast performance because of the stand alone apple chips instead of the tv eventually slowing and getting outdated
I’ll tell you one quick message once you got Apple TV iPad iPhone another devices everything is synchronised but if you have a fire stick or Google android TV, they want synchronise everything while you’re watching and going through android TV that is crap sorry

What TV do u have?
I have a LG G3 OLED TV
4:10 taylor swift😍😍😍
I noticed too lol
npc
What about iPod
My question is: can I turn on and off my tv with apple tv remote and forget the tv’s remote? I don’t want to switch between them.
Yes
I feel the same way as you
Is it worth it if one doesn't own any other apple products?
ok sold
I prefer Google tv due to the algorithm since it's already built into my other tvs. The one thing that would get me to buy Apple Tv is if it upscaled 1080 to 4k.
most upscaled image quality is crap I mean it has got better over the years but prob still not worth the money they want for one
Awesome videos sorry I’m sooo late
How hard is it to hook up
Insanely easy. Just connect to the HDMI port & you're done.
@@imprecisstudio Ok thank you
if your buying the 4K option I would also hook it up to your internet through ethernet cable as well quality difference can be night and day depending on the quality of your connection most WiFi is okay but hardwire is always better option, also if your not familiar with apple products and their OS it might be a slight learning curve at first but def a better user experience in my opinion.
0:56 Sometimes you open Apple TV plus you open Netflix (shows Disney+ on the screen)
Except for my iPhone my Apple TV is my most used Apple product
Obviously not set up properly
What if you have a playstation 5?
what's the actual question? I mean 2 separate systems one wouldn't be dependent on the other to function if your asking which is better between the two it really depends on what your wanting to get out of the Apple TV if you are going app for app quality wise probably very similar quality but two different interfaces if you have other apple products though and are looking to sync them to the TV or interface with them on the TV then Apple TV is the best way to go (personal opinion) if not then I would probably stick with the PS5 and leave it at that
If I’m paying this much, what channels come free? Otherwise I’ll just use a Roku or something.
so essentially, the apple tv will replace the "smart" function of a high quality tv that way you will always have a good picture with fast performance because of the stand alone apple chips instead of the tv eventually slowing and getting outdated
Sort of. Plus some extra apple stuff if you’re into their ecosystem.
I prefer the native apps on my Lg Oled G4 webos, and save another hdmi😂
Steve Jobs said that smart tv are laggy and slow, he predicted that thing in the begin of your video
Is there a MotoGP on it, I mean race and not a game?
I want to buy one…but what can i actually watch besides Netflix and Disney?
TH-cam
Screen mirroring
Mostly every popular streaming service like Max, Hulu and etc
Main problem: no usb to connect hard drive
Man just say its not worht it even tough it was before, if you got a smart tv or a ps5
I bought one several months ago and I noticed no difference in resolution. I just didn’t see a benefit to it so I returned it.
The speed of the OS I guess, WebOS on my LG TV sucks, my providers Box sucks etc...
I don’t see a difrence I feel robbed bro
There is no difference
I’ll tell you one quick message once you got Apple TV iPad iPhone another devices everything is synchronised but if you have a fire stick or Google android TV, they want synchronise everything while you’re watching and going through android TV that is crap sorry
No, that’s not the reason I ask, I ask if my iPad, MBA and iPhone has Apple TV, what does an Apple TV bring me that those do not?
its 2 different things. Apple TV is a streaming service, Apple TV 4k is a streaming box (which supports other streaming services as well)
@ - My MBAir Apple TV app also supports 4k, and can stream and download.
