All of Apple’s products come out really really fast, comma one after another. But PlayStation five and it’s competitor, they keep the same thing for like 5 to 8 years. Which is really weird.
I love my apple TV! The OS on my smart TV is slow and awful to use. I love how you can extend the life of your TV with an apple TV. It's super fast and just works.
my airport made giger counter sounds like it was radioactive. My current router doesn't make any sound. And the airport I had wasn't the one with the hard drive.
Apple needs to support true Dolby Atmos, DTS and DTS X. Passthrough would eliminate the LPCM format they run and allow these to run, and they need to fix the sound cutout problem they have on the Apple TV.
With Apple TV function now built in on most TV sets as an app, the standf alone HW Apple TV needs to move upmarket. MAME gaming support could be a selling point too.
If you turn off eArc on your TV it will allow proper pass through, I’ve tested this on my Sonos soundbar. With eArc on it shows PCM 5.1 with it turned off it shows Dolby Digital Plus 5.1
@@jayn1848 exactly. Also it probably sounds worse as the apple core audio over lpcm is very very good already and you’re better off with having the lip sync
@ with eARC on mine shows Dolby Atmos. The problem is it’s not full DA. 7.1.4 is full atmos and pass through would allow for all Dolby and DTS to be played or decoded at the audio system instead of ATV decoding it and sending it out LPCM like they do
What’s wrong with it? If you’re referring to match sample rate to content sure, but it still destroys my nvidia shield and fire tv when it comes to audio quality as lpcm
Oh will they PLEASE allow us to use the ample storage to download offline videos (e.g. Apple TV or Netflix)? We use Apple TV in our camper and could really use the ability to watch offline.
Funny thing there is this one bug in AirPort Utility that makes me have to configure it with Mojave (crashes with Ventura (and Monterey and what else I don't know as those are the two I've used) when I even try to edit it otherwise. Sure would hope they had at least the same settings and fixed that flippin' bug...
As mentioned in the video not only do we need DTS but also Dolby TruHD the difference between the the audio on standard Atmos compressed and Atmos TruHd from my BluRays is like night and day. Additionally to support the Music app in HD uncompressed audio above 48hz would be very desired.
I have two Apple TVs, one for the TV, one in my sound system to stream Apple Music and my iTunes library. It's a shame that the Apple TV not only doesn't stream hi-res lossless music from its own service, it doesn't stream hi-res music files from my Mac at native resolution. Everything is capped at 48kHz. Yes it also upsamples lower res files to 48kHz, but imagine if your photo slideshows were capped at 720ppi. For comparison, my 2016 blu-ray player has no issue streaming files up to 192kHz. Please Apple, let us stream our music at full resolution!
They could offer DTS, but they would have to pay a license, which is something they don't want to do. Just doing simple pass thru will eliminate any need to pay for any licenses for any video codecs going forward.
I know the majority wouldn’t care but it’s time to upgrade the Ethernet to 10 gigabit. It would make a difference for probably less than 10% but for those with faster internet it’s time. I’d like to see Apple bring back Time Capsule with WiFi 7 and built in VPN. Imagine if it could be used as a personal media server like Plex. Added cellular backup when your internet connection goes down would make it the ultimate internet device.
I just got an apple tv for Christmas and I really only have one major complaint. I have very poor vision so the fact that siri has no setting to make it verbally respond to you is a massive issue for me.
As everyone else says…allow full audio pass through, also hear me out…allow ‘pre-loading’ of films from apple so they play in equivalent quality to disc, it wouldn’t need to download the full movie just enough depending on your internet speed 😊
I almost exclusively use my phone as my AppleTV remote. I have kids that lose remotes all the time. I tell them I don’t care if they lose the remote because all it means is that they can’t watch the tv anymore but I can 😂
Of course, it’s highly capable and remains my favorite. However, I can see it becoming a highly successful replacement for a gaming console with some software tweaks. Also, please put the fan back into it for improved sustained performance.
Not a good idea unless all tv manufacturers stick to hardware specs very religiously, which is not going to happen… The reason why iOS generally outperforms Android is due to the fact that Android is running non natively on a bunch of different hardware. On top of that, developer support (from e.g. the Netflix app developer) is much higher for the same reason
Apart from the obvious sales revenue implications of selling less products would it not be a good idea to combine Apple TV with the Mac Mini or put an M series chip in the Apple TV so it can run MacOS?
“It doesn’t seem like there are any rumors suggesting a more gaming-capable Apple TV, but I’d absolutely love for them to release one. Being able to play recently released Mac games comfortably on a TV using the set-top box would be amazing
Really enjoyed your take on the Apple TV. I have them on all my TVs and prefer their interface over Google, Roku or Amazon. I do think it needs the faster processor both for Apple Intelligence and gaming to give those features better experiences. Right now I am using Amazon Alexa for my home automation but I am hoping Apple will release new HomePods including one with a screen for my kitchen. I would like to live in a single eco system and I feel Apple respects consumer privacy more than the other major platforms. I agree with you on the Apple remote, I would also like it if they added backlighting. When I watch in my theater the lights are off since I am using a projector.
Hello👋, can you use the Apple AirPlay service to connect the Mac Studio M4 Ultra Silicon, of course, when it comes out, and the Macbook Pro M4 Max Silicon to the Apple TV? I also want to know how to do this. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you very much. 👍
I'm still using my Apple Airport Extreme and it's the best, most reliable router I have. I've extended my network with a TP Link, because I couldn't get another Airport, and the TP Link sucks. I have to reboot it every so often to get my wifi working again, which isn't a thing with the Airport. I would just like to have my home networked with Apple routers only. So yes, I do hope Apple brings back the Airport line or something similar, like maybe mesh router support built into HomePod mini. On the Apple TV front, I think the biggest thing holding it back is the lack of ability for apps to maximize their use of local storage. This is also why a lot of games aren't brought over to the Apple TV. If they can fix that major gripe on tvOS, I do believe gaming and a bunch of other types of apps will become more popular on the Apple TV.
Honestly if apple added proper audio passthrough, I’d be happy to pay $350 for it. Converting audio to LPCM sucks! Just let us pass through to our audio receiver! I like nearly everything else about it!
How can I watch Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Chicago Med, Seal Team etc etc etc like I did before on my older device through ITunes Series app cos after the update to 18.2 I can’t do anymore?
What true Home theater enthusiast want is for the Apple TV to not process the audio at all. We want true pass-through. So if we have a digital file with lossless audio up to and including Dolby, Atmos and or DTSX, that soundtrack would pass straight through the Apple TV on to our sound processor
Now that Apple TV is embedded in modern TVs the stand alone box should be moved upmarket. Would love to see the return of AirPort if it leverages security at the router level like my Orbi.
I would love an Apple TV dongle be because it would help me to make my portable projector setup more portable. Like you said, they probably will not do that.
Yes, I would like to see them bring back the airport wireless airport doc I think it would be good. They made it right. The first time they’ll make it better advancement although I’m happy with T-MOBILE as my Wi-Fi if I can get Apple Wi-Fi, I’d even be happier.
My next Apple TV should have 2.5 GbE and usc-c / Thunderbolt 3 connections to external SSD and Airport Utility for TM backup support. Apple has long forgotten Time Machine backup. I rarely use the last Apple TV and instead 99% of time using Google Streamer though buggy.
Apple needs to allow the use of more than one official Apple TV remote for folks who like his/her remotes without passing one around or resorting to 3rd party remotes or using your iPhone as a remote. Other streaming boxes allow this and I'm not sure why Apple doesn't.
I’m still using two Apple TV 4K gen 1’s. I’d like to see the ability to receive phone calls and text messages notifications on the screen. And yes I’d like to see an Apple router again, maybe something will 5G cellular built in as a backup.
The ATV is a great product. If Apple continues to make new ones they may want to consider marketing it once in awhile. I’d bet 7 out of 10 people couldn’t tell you what an Apple TV even is; the confusion between the hardware and the streaming service endures.
Many TVs have different iOS's already in their TV on purchase. Google TV, Rocku TV, Samsung, Sony... Apple should be having their TV-OS of Apple TV pre-installed on mainstream TV brands.
they need to make a new remote. the touch area sucks SO bad. when you try to select, it thinks you are trying to move the "cursor" and picks the wrong thing 99% of the time, the remote is the worst remote ever created. they also need to support HI RES AUDIO. 32/384 or put the optical out for an external DAC.
I also want them to brong back the ability to download movies and tv shows in true 4k. I don't care if they make it so that it "deletes" or something after a set period of time. But I wouldn't need my physical disks because I'd be able to watch a pristine downloaded copy. They allow it on all devices but the ATV. It's dumb.
An Apple TV monitor would be too costly, but I wouldn’t mind an Apple TV dongle in addition to the set-top box with more storage, Apple Intelligence, and HomeKit Hub WiFi mesh.
All I want is better processing and upscalling. Nvidia Shield and Amazon FireCube does a much better job in upscsling and picture processing than ATV. I honestly don't understand what people are SEEING when they claim ATV is the best. I think apps and the remote are stilk better on ATV and has a better interface. But it's last place as far as Streaming quality. I love the Atv remote.
It would be nice to have a decent home audio to partner with the Apple TV... like a minim 2.1 sound bar... and a 5.1 upgrade... imo HomePod mini is a joke for room filing sound...ok for very small spaces. HomePod is ok, but two of them, making decent sound for a small/medium room is too expensive for what is offered. It's all about the infrastructure...come on Apple, step it up.
They need Netflix integration. Also, the Up Next or Continue Watching section needs to be expended. This is where I add things to my list. That should be an area where I can sort by movies, shows, or whatever. Instead of showing only 4 or 5 titles and needing the scroll across.
I truly wish Apple had focus more on home n homekit accessories. Can u imagine having light switches with small touch screens that can function like wall control panels for room controls for smart division that u can have on every room. Also bring back home iOS to run on a Mac min or even the new Apple TV (Including iOS Server that was discontinued) Apple wants to bring game to iOS like Cyberpunk 77 coming soon but could u imagine Apple TV getting M4 pro or max chips for home server, HomeKit hub, n AAA Gaming. The Apple TV should have different model like the Mac mini, with entry level with just Apple TV, n with more advanced high spec that have, higher graphics for high level games even PC games, audio amplifier fro. 5.1 to 9.2 for home theater, and hob for wired Security Cameras (now robes use WiFi scramblers to disconnect security cameras that are connected wirelessly. They still great but we should have at less afew wired cameras that can still work if the internet is down.)
Great video and content! Apple TV is a crucial, cost-effective part of the ecosystem, offering seamless iCloud integration and flexibility at home. Excited for the new device!
Both of my Apple TVs are connected by Ethernet and I also already have a 6e eero WiFi setup so this update won’t be something I’d get. My third device is an nVidia Shield which still beats out the Apple TV in some ways.
It would be nice to bring the AirPort fictionality to the AppleTV it would give second layer of protection (more fire walls) at home or other locations. Could function as a travel router with VPN, just bring HDMI cable and bang you will be playing your games and watching your favorite media. And with your business team you can have a secure meeting and or presentation . Does anyone think Apple would do such a thing?
I'd like to see the Apple TV become a hub for Home Automation devices as well as a streaming device. It would be a great idea to manage the "relationship" between all your Apple ecosystem devices from an intuitive interface on a large flat screen as well....and with a Apple TV-sized puck, you can also experience a substantial feature upgrade....extending the life and functionality on older HDTVs.
I do love to see NEW ROUTER FROM APPLE ANS ALSO A VPN SERVICES NATIVE FROM APLLE, SO CAN’T ATOP BLAMING ORHER VPN SERVICES QHEN DON’T HVE NY IDEA HOW TO FIX IT
My Hisense U8H is faster than every single streaming box in my house. This is including my Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen (2022). Literally every single app loads faster, never has to buffer and the tv’s control never lags. I asked for the Apple TV 4K because I got the tv and wanted a 4k streaming box that was more capable than a fire stick. I wasted my money and now it’s just comes with me on vacations so that I can at least use it.
@ lmfao… ok random internet person. Go get you one and try it. I have both and I have no reason to lie. Apple TV 4K, PS5 and Series X connected to my U8H. The U8H is faster.
Apple won’t give loyal customers and Apple fans what they want, they’ll only give us what they decide we need regardless, they should reach out and survey customer base to show that they appreciate the support and hear what we are saying and attempt to come as close as possible to fulfillment
There is no point in Apple releasing their own television. If they were to release one with an integrated Apple TV, yes I know confusing, then what do you with that when the Apple TV innards age out? Televisions last a long time (generally) and Apple TVs get replaced every 5-7 years. I for one wouldn’t buy an Apple television for this reason, and the price point would likely be too high.
There's multiple sources throughout the video, from Bloomberg to Ming Chi Kuo, to code in iOS. The point is it is a rumor roundup video, I analyze what is likely and what are pipe dreams (like the TV). But it's still rumors. If you don't like rumors, stick with my tips, reviews, and other content.
Can't watch Netflix without it pixelating. I have to use my smart tv instead and for that reason I can't use my HomePods. Money gone to waste. Can anybody make any suggestions? I have a Samsung QN85d OLED

All of Apple’s products come out really really fast, comma one after another. But PlayStation five and it’s competitor, they keep the same thing for like 5 to 8 years. Which is really weird.

You hit the nail on the head, that’s all I want is full audio passthrough and hopefully dts x for Disney plus imax enhanced.

Facts. The Apple TV software runs so much smoother and quicker than an LG TVs software.
DTS, DTS-X is a must
I would like to see Apple reintroduce their Airport Router line.
Still running my 10+ year old Airport Extreme for Time Machine backups. I would instantly hop on new Airports
my airport made giger counter sounds like it was radioactive. My current router doesn't make any sound. And the airport I had wasn't the one with the hard drive.
It's called Unifi - it already exists.

Me too, no regrets :D

The Apple TV should have different model like the Mac mini, with entry level with just Apple TV, n with more advanced high spec that have, higher graphics for high level games even PC games, audio amplifier fro. 5.1 to 9.2 for home theater, and hob for wired Security Cameras (now robes use WiFi scramblers to disconnect security cameras that are connected wirelessly. They still great but we should have at less afew wired cameras that can still work if the internet is down.)
I love the Apple TV!
Apple TV gaming needs to have hardware ray tracing by using the newer processor and be a legit gaming platform.
I hate the nvidia shield. We have it in our living room and I prefer Apple TV that’s in the bedroom
Does anyone think Apple would do such a thing?
my apple tv recently died randomly so i’ll probably wait for this
Dolby Atmos over Dolby trueHD lossless is most of people want
I'd like to see the Apple TV become a hub for Home Automation devices as well as a streaming device. It would be a great idea to manage the "relationship" between all your Apple ecosystem devices from an intuitive interface on a large flat screen as well....and with a Apple TV-sized puck, you can also experience a substantial feature upgrade....extending the life and functionality on older HDTVs.
why is your video only 720p?
why does it need to be any higher?
2022 apple Tv still pretty good.
It would be cool if we could play Xbox Game Pass on apple tv
interesting as I'm using an Nvidia Shield more than my Apple TV
STUCK AT 60FPS…. 😮 NO HI RES AUDIO 😮.
With all the storage would want to be able to download movies and tv shows.
I do love to see NEW ROUTER FROM APPLE ANS ALSO A VPN SERVICES NATIVE FROM APLLE, SO CAN’T ATOP BLAMING ORHER VPN SERVICES QHEN DON’T HVE NY IDEA HOW TO FIX IT
Great video, just subscribed.
Apple should have bought Disney, then it would have a whole world of content for AppleTV
No it isn't
Not one single bit of proof anywhere what a pointless silly video wasting peoples time
It is a very good video makes it is a really good professional TH-cam channel

@markbriscoe1971 there’s no proof in what he’s saying he’s just making it up how is that a good video you clown
Stop trolling or actually watch the video. There was and are sources to back this up.
I want AI up scaling BADLY
Can't watch Netflix without it pixelating. I have to use my smart tv instead and for that reason I can't use my HomePods. Money gone to waste. Can anybody make any suggestions? I have a Samsung QN85d OLED
