Damn right. This is why more people need to get their Concealed Carry Permit and carry. When more citizens do this, there will be far less crime. Anyone who doubts this can look at Kennisaw, GA and what they did in the late 70's, early 80's mandating every citizen have at least one firearm (and ammo) in their home at all times. Crime dropped like a rock.

If more and more victims retaliate this will give the carjackers two options:
      Stop carjacking.
Shoot their vctim on the spot to make sure they can't retaliate.
You can be sure that not 100% of offenders will chose the first option. So your "hero" does lead to less crime, but the remaining crime will be more severe.

"defending yourself." How convenient for you to be in a position to claim that his life was actually in danger during the decision to fire. He literally shot them as they were driving off. The time to claim self defense would've been to shoot them when he was actually being held at gunpoint.
the carjackers were bluffing with the assault rifle. nobody interested in stealing someone's car is going to insist on killing the driver just to add to the frustration of trying to fence the stolen car. and then add to that that the car itself is completely worthless if it has the driver's dead guts strewn all over it.
look, i'm sorry that it's conceivable for bad things to happen to good people, but a fucking car isn't worth a person's life. we have laws about murder to keep people from trying to solve all their problems with violence. your fucking insurance should cover you in case of theft. just let the piece of shit survive ffs.

That's it, period. There's no justifying that. Human life isn't worth property, I agree. So don't put yours on the line to steal someone else's property knowing damn well they may do what they have to in order to defend it. It's not on the victim for valuing property over human life, it's on the people who risked their own lives and put others lives in danger for property.

I think the vast majority of reasonable people would agree that the term victim implies somebody who is not attempting to harm somebody else but rather somebody who was, the well how shall I say it, victim of somebody who was meaning them harm.
If you really believe what you claim to believe, then you must think Charles Manson was a victim. And Jeffrey Dahmer. And Wayne Gacy. After all, they all suffered harm or came to unpleasant circumstances as a result of the actions of others…
