This is in the owner's manuel and it applies to all makes of cars. Unfortunately the guy in the video only has 50% of it right. Any time your battery has been unhooked for 5+ minutes or when you replace the battery the vehicle needs to relearn the idle and fuel trim. When the engine is cold. Make make sure all accessories are turned off start the vehicle let engine idle until it reaches normal operating temperature let idle for at least 1 minute. Then turn on the a/c let vehicle idle for another minute. Then drive the vehicle for at least 10 miles. That's the correct way to do it.
If I turn on the heat or ac then my 2012 v6 mustang rpm goes below 500 and it wants to shut down. It revives itself, but still this happens when I turn on the heat or ac. Please help.
I have a 2010 GT as well and am averaging 23mpg. And I drive it hard at times. This guy must of driven this thing like a monster or something. Lol jk. I have noticed others with lower than 20 mpg. I guess I drive sparingly. Lol
I noticed that too.i just checked my 97 gt 5 speed with 4.10 gears, tune, few other mods and I get right at 20 a gallon.i have over 300,00 miles. That's no lie,I just checked it last week. I'm sure it's a little less on interstate though.
I removed my throttle body to clean it and maf, then when I started it back up and drove my idle would rise up to 2000 rpm after releasing the clutch to neutral
@@chiphorn3634 car on or off any slight movement of the flaps fucks up the calipration of the throttle body resulting in buying a new one or finding a shop worthy of recalibrating it. I actually ended up doing both a throttle body cleaning followed up by an idle relearn procedure and it fixed the issue and also gave me way better throttle response on my dusty 06 gt with cold air intake and a throttle body spacer.
@@brianrivera3974 that's such bullshit dude I just cleaned mine and I opened the throttle up and when it was all said and done it was operating just fine you probably just fucked up yours somehow

Coyote Lifestyle yeah
Yup
Why the fck would you need to turn on AC. What if AC was deleted. What does AC have anything to do with Idle relearn?
maximus vonce the AC is parasitic to the motor. I learned I need to do this because my car would stall when I started it with the AC on.
So if theirs no ac then you don't have to do that step :)
Thank you! My Mustang done this yesterday and with your help I got it home! Thx!!!
I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for the comment!
hahah man im not gonna lie I have worked all night due to this corona outbreak. But this video got me through it all. Thanks man
You had me at Mustang.
LOL TJ!
Good thing to know for my truck. I wonder if my motorcycle dose the same thing? So, great video my friend!
Only if it has air conditioning, Lonestar.
***** Oh yeah, LOL I forgot that!
Lmao
Yep. This needs to be done anytime you disconnect the battery. 10 miles with the AC on.
Does it have to be with the AC on, or can you use the heater instead?
you never told anyone how to retrain the idle, you just take it for a ride. I have been driving mine for months and it still does it now and then.

So what exactly did you do that you said it solved the problem? All I saw was you started it, let it run, and drove it. Isn't that what we do anyway?
got to have the AC on and drive 10 miles to reset the idle. Duh lol
Disconnect the battery for a couple of seconds and put it back..
Helped a lot thanks!
16.6 mpg? Best I get on highway is 22'ish...but nothing beats a V8!
I always liked the V8 engine.

Where ya from? Anywhere near Wisconsin?... I do mpg builds
Driving on city’s you can get less than that

Part out
Very informative my friend. Aieee! Keep warm man.
You too, Chef! But you're always warm because you're always by a heat source.
Did you drive around with the AC on? Or after a minute you turned off the AC?
I turned it off.
Was the car in drive when you did the idle check ?
Good question, Nick. I have the 6-speed, so it was in neutral.
A little adjustment on the Mustang GT.
What if its ur crankshaft sensor
If it was a crankshaft sensor you wouldn't have spark.
This video is useless for reprogramming info! All you do is talk and don’t show anything other than the tachometer!
My car kills itself when I clutch in
Or you could just clean the damn throttle body already
Nope. Brand new car. Not necessary. The idle relearn process is the solution. Works like a charm.
And accidentally push open the flaps lol no thanx
@@brianrivera3974 turn it off first dumbass

so it is still fluctuated without any change after all you done heheheheehe
Where's the Lesson in this video
Just follow the steps I show in the video. It's pretty simple.
