Seven years ago I purchased CASIO PRO TREK PRW-3000-1A which is somewhat similar to the PRW-3510Y-8CR shown here both in looks and features. It is a great every day watch, never had any issues with it, the battery still keeps the charge even after keeping the watch for 3 years in complete dark.
I had a Seiko Alpinist SARB017 nice watch just never used it so i sold it.But i do now have a seiko presage 1964 crown chronograph spb129. So i stayed with the green.BTW good luck finding a Seiko Alpinist SARB017 at $500
Garmin released the solar line of Instinct watches earlier this year, which in addition to adding solar power also upgraded the heart rate monitor and added a pulse oximeter. The solar represents a pretty nice upgrade, especially since it can run indefinitely in battery saver (just a watch) mode with a few hours of sunlight a day. There are 4 models: standard; camo, which is just standard in camo patterns; tactical, which has the HALO calculator and stealth modes; and surf, which includes tide charts and surf session mode. Since most people will never be doing any HALO jumping, the surf model is, in my opinion, the best option in the line. It has all of the features included in the standard model and the addition of tide charts is useful for many activities beyond just surfing, from tide pooling to sailing.
The Instinct Solar is fantastic, had one for a few months now, 12 days battery in normal use, 70+ days in batter saver, threw on a rubber case and a fabric strap on, always keep it on my right and whatever other watch I want to wear on the left. Added bonus is that the monochrome display is super readable at all times, and funnily enough not being a touchscreen is actually rather useful as it doesn't spaz out from random touches
After watching your channel for a while, I've ordered Certina DS 4 small seconds and Seiko SARB065 COCKTAIL Time (under $500). Can't wait to receive those babies
Yes the pro trek! I have that same model. It's brilliant. 200m WR, and the new display is super clear. The stock strap is great, but it can also take any 22mm strap without adapter. Buy it Jory!
A long list of beautiful watches, but the Certina is my favorite. Very nice, like others of their watches. For instance I love the DS2 green dial big date. More expensive, but beautiful.
Alpina is an underrated brand. My friend has the quartz Startimer and loves it. I have the automatic. The case on my watch is very similar to your Certina chronograph. I also like Certina. I have the DS Action Special Edition.
Love your channel, I'm considering purchasing the Glycine blue dail moonphase GL0113 after seeing it on your channel, lovely time piece! Keep up the good work sir!
The first time I saw the new Marlin automatics, I fell in love with the designed, it nailed the mid century modern Don Draper look. I guess it’s easy for them because they sold those watches when mid century modern was cool the first time. Yes, the Orient Bambino has better specs at a lower price, but only one of their v.2 designs comes close to the Marlin. The only think keeping me from making the Marlin my everyday beater is that I’m still work from home. I only wish it came in 38mm instead of 40.
I've got an Alpinist SARB017. I brought it when I saw you're "one watch collection" video a while back. It is definitely, definitely the last watch I own I would part with. Its tough. Cool design story. Looks great anywhere, on the Mr Seiko bracelet for sporty casual, on leather with a suit. On a NATO I've taken it across deserts in North Africa and trekking mountains in Northern India & Nepal. If you haven't guessed I love this watch. You did me a solid recammended this watch. Thanks.
MUCH better examples available on Joma for less. Don't believe this shit. It's simply a list of 10 watches under $500 that HE can make a buck on. Mostly they were poor choices at prices higher than you can find elsewhere!
The Citizen Corso(BM7100-59E) is a great GADA watch. It also could make an affordable one watch collection if you are ok with quartz. I'm surprised there is no real review about it on any major watch channel. It's kind of a holy grail in it's pricerange.
Yeah, but don't buy before you check Joma. A HEAP of Certina available there, and many better options at far better prices. Remember that these watches are only a selection taken from what he can make a buck on through Amazon. Not a full and diverse representation by any means...
Hey!!! I've had that corso eco drive for about 3 years now. Been asking everyone to review it but no one has!!! Haha thanks for giving it a review.... I love using it as a daily beater
So I own the Citizen Corso, and great pick. This watch is SEVERELY underrated. It can truly be your only watch. Amazon actually has it very overpriced at $330. Last week they were selling it for, ready for this, $115!!!! Insane. The usual going rate is $165-$220. So, it can be had far cheaper than $330. Just wanted to point that out. I have owned it for almost five years now. It looks great on a black nato strap. You mentioned the lume..I can answer this as well. It has a beautiful turquoise color on all of the applied indices and hour/minute hands. The lume is solid. It's by no means Seiko good, but it is not useless lume. I would rate it a 5 out of 10. Anyway, great watch. Can do it all. One of the best bangs or your buck in the watch world under 500 bucks.. hell, under 200 bucks!
Nice mixture of watches but I think you could have added something like my new watch. Just bought an Orient 36mm in rose gold on a leather strap.I say this because of its size and retro looks. I know you mentioned the marlin but I'm not sure about the size. The Orient has such a great retro look and get this I've had it for 4 days and It's only gained 2 seconds. I've managed this by changing the position I leave the watch a night time. I've noticed during the day on wrist it looses about 2 seconds but by positioning the watch face up overnight it gains the time back.😊👍
Love the video man! Not to sound pretentious or like I even make videos, but I found myself skipping ahead 2:26 before the title content even started. :) cheers
Great video Jory👍. Awesome watches!🌟. I own the Seiko Sarb 017 and it is EVERYTHING you said it is snd more. LOTS of compliments on it. That Mido in a black dial looks awesome 😎
Bulova was mentioned, but I'd like to add the Bulova lunar pilot. It was originally made to compete with Omega and Rolex for NASAs official watch, and when his Omega Speedmaster broke, Dave Scott (Apollo 15) wore his Bulova prototype on the moon. Bulova reissued it with an ultra high accuracy quartz (262k i think) and you can get it for around 300. Absolute steal.
Could you do a review on Amercican watches, I know that you don't love Shinola so much. But how about Weiss, Martenero or Vortic? Do they worth the price? What do you think?
Always love your content. Can you review watches under $500 that are options for gents with diminishing eyesight? There's plenty of watch options out there for those of us with normal eyesight but I've yet to come across good reviews specific for those who have a passion for horology/collecting whose vision may be not as it were some years ago such as father's, uncle's, friends, etc. who have a passion for watches but struggle to wear just the typical recommended value pieces.
I've been wearing that corso since February, the pictures online don't do it justice. The pattern in the middle is pretty subtle but keeps it interesting and the sunburst around the edge looks great. Its quite the strap monster too. Often goes on sale for around $220 CAD.
Great to see you! I always look for the notifications that you have posted. Great video! Keep em coming. Still looking you to get your hands on the new Submariner! I had the chance and I think you will really like it!
Finally picked up my steel Bulova CURV after finding out that it’s been delisted everywhere. With the rubber strap, to me it’s the best every day watch until something innovative wows me again. :)

The Sarb017 rant we needed.
The crackling of the mic from your beard when you get excited is funny😂
D.A.R.E had me rollin. What a time to be alive that was lol.
Thanks man, as always
I have that Certina DS-4. The texture on the dial is very unique and gives the watch a touch of elegance without trying too hard.

And I'm fairly certain they aren't on Amazon anymore, especially for anywhere near $500
I'm with you 100% about the Alpinist!
Certina is one of the best kept secrets in quality, bang-for-you-buck, swiss watches
He obligated me buy the alpinist. BTW, love it!
Love mine too!!
Good point on the new Seiko's alpinist; I'd take the old one all day long!
The Orient Defender 2 is a fantastic watch, especially at that price point. I don't regret purchasing mine; it's been fabulous!

Alpinist 017 forever, yooooo! It's funny how green dial was such a problem until Rolex and Oris put them out. All of a sudden green is cool.
exactly.....no one has any complaints about the rolex hulk's green dial!
Green dials are sexy , I have a jade dial on a watch and its my favourite watch dial
After watching your channel for a while, I've ordered Certina DS 4 small seconds and Seiko SARB065 COCKTAIL Time (under $500). Can't wait to receive those babies
You will love the Seiko SARD065. I have it and it is a most beautiful dress watch.
You forgot about the Snoopy options for the Marlin. Big bonus for Timex.
That was what sold me on the Marlin.
I love the Marlin
Yes the pro trek! I have that same model. It's brilliant. 200m WR, and the new display is super clear. The stock strap is great, but it can also take any 22mm strap without adapter. Buy it Jory!

SARB 017 Alpinist. Makes all the “best of” lists.
To bad you can't find one for less than 800 now.
@Tricky Shakes very curious why you don’t just replace the crystal? No need to “jack” the watch up or buy another one.
Any chance someone knows if a display case back is available for the SARB017? Is that a thing?
Nope.

I think the best offer was Alpina 6:04 min. And both Certina watches. 👍 for presentation
Certina ds-4 on leather strap is gorgeous.

You always find time to mention the Alpinist.
But never mention “the Alpiner”
It’s always a watch I recommend for someone who is starting a collection. Very easy to dress down and up!
...yeah. The wrong Alpinist.
Great review and good info for Christmas coming up

I have two-tone Certina DS-4, it’s a really beautiful watch, I got it for about 500, but still consider it a good deal.
Yes! I love your energy level in this one Brother!
Fun selection of watches. The Garmam was a surprise. Well done Sir.
Hi, could you do a review of the new reduced 38mm Alpinist which came out recently?
I have a lot of watches, including Omega, IWC, etc but the Garmin Instinct Tactical is my all-time fave!
There is a solar powered version of the Garmin. It’s more expensive but still under the $500 criteria for this video.
Why the Alpinist is not offered with a 24 hour or world-time inner dial in place of the compass is a mystery.
Love the video man! Not to sound pretentious or like I even make videos, but I found myself skipping ahead 2:26 before the title content even started. :) cheers
My favorite everyday is still my 38mm khaki field automatic.
Today, the time teller titrates terrific thin ticketed tic tocs.
Truly troublesome.
