  • Today I share my favourite watches that offer the best value for money starting from $50 to around $200. This is the most requested price range that many of the fashion watches like Daniel Wellington, the Fifth, Michael Kors, Armani etc are priced at. So in this video I share 10+ options that come from brands with real watch making heritage, horological innovation and even a few iconic classics in there too.

Anas Hakim - The affordability means you can get more of them but I suppose after you've experienced something of higher quality, you'd rather have a few nice pieces then a big collection of the budgets.

That Victorinox Infantry is really a hidden gem. I bought the automatic version with eta 2824 movement for about 350$. It really gives you the feel of a well made swiss piece. Accuracy is +3 sec/day which is way better than my seikos. I would say that it considerably reduced my itch for wanting a rolex right now, at the same time increased my respect for swiss manufacturing.

$100 is the sweet spot. + or - $20 and most people are comfortable with that price. I had no idea there were even good watches in this price range. I just thought 30$ timex and 10k rolex and not a clue a world existed between. Thanks for the great videos.

LB33 I'm thinking of buying the SNK809 too by the start of July! It will be my first automatic watch as well but I'm confused between this and the SKX007. I know these two are both very different watches but I'm fascinated by both and want one that would go with every occasion. Given the fact that I'm a recent college graduate I need something that I could wear at work as well as casual outings, which one would you recommend? Is the SKX809 treating you well?

Don't know if you meant to adress creeps inc or me...
If you adressed me, I'm sorry for being late, I just read your comment.
The SKX809 are both great watches (like almost every Seiko). And they actually aren't too different (from a specs standpoint). Both have a 7s26 movement and hardlex crystal. So it's mostly the size, the water resistance and of course the design that distinguishes them.
Since your comment is already 2 weaks old, I suspect you have already decide which one to buy...?

    • @pratikkarmiani9387
      @pratikkarmiani9387 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

LB33 yes I reckon I meant to address 'creeps inc' but replied to your comment by mistake.
I'm still thankful for your reply though and thanks for the input as well. You are right, I have made up my mind to buy the SNK809 first. Might get the SKX007 later someday. Since this will be my first automatic watch, the fact that It has a exhibition/ display case back is a big plus for me. I'm pretty excited to get my hands on it :)

My Citizen titanium eco-drive is about a dozen years of abuse old. It is about -2 seconds/week accurate! This watch is leaving all my more expensive automatics way behind concerning the watch accuracy! If this watch had been an "atomic" or GPS radio watch, it would be even closer to being a "perfect" one.

Great video but for anyone who is interested, I am watching this video and going through some of the online shops, Amazon, watchshop and others, at the same time to get a few ideas for a Christmas present for my son. The Hamilton Khaki and the Marathon are nowhere near the 200 dollar mark. I am in the Uk and the Marathon is £280($350) and the Hamilton, the one I liked most of all, around £300($380). The first Seiko is at the right price and the swatch ones are correct too but a lot of these watches are in the 3-5 hundred dollar range(retail price in the Uk).

That Sinn is a lovely looking piece. As for budget options around 200 dollars, I really rate triwa, a Danish brand. Their "nevil" chronographs are very handsome watches. I've had one in my collection for a while. Orient Bambino looks great but they should have made it smaller - about 37mm.

Ok, so my pick. 1. Dress watch: Marvin jumbo (38mm) from the 50-s. In-house swiss movement, price about 100 usd. 2. Casual watch: any oversized swiss automatic from the 70s. Tv dial, sunburst, retro look, eta movement. Price: 100 usd. 3. Beater watch: casio ae1000w.

    Any thoughts on Luminox watches?
Personally owning one passed down from my Uncle, was told it was bought around the 80s. Gone through at least 5 rubber straps since it was bought, 2 since I “inherited” it back in 2013. The luminous tubes are still going on strong and doesn’t seem to have issue taking dives. Just that the pin holes at the hinges have rusted. So changing straps are proving to be more harder each time. The glass doesn’t seem too fuzzed up with scratches too, pretty durable especially when knocking/scratching against walls/pillars/poles. Overall, very suitable for most urban terrain and environment. Will update with its model soon.

Hi Sir, i just wanted to say, from France, that i love your style and videos ! As a beginner, I feel you had an influence in my choice for my first 2 pieces. A quartz, the Tissot Quister Nato, i found it simple, elegant, casual, and i love seeing it like a part of the history of this amazing brand. And a automatic, the Seiko 5 SNZG11J1, in blue, my favorite color (I just order it today so i wait for it).
I bought the two for 288 euros, i think it's 352 dollars, a good deal as it was the initial price of the Tissot only. But seeing your videos, i have the impression that watches are a little bit less expensives in america !?
Thank you for your work, I'll keep watching it !

Have you ever did a review on a older Cardinal brand, apparently there the same company as Wenger and started by a family from Russia who came to North America years past.
    Thanks again🙂

    The best dress watch
under $200 is the Three Centre Hand Manual Winding Orient Monarch, very rare
even in Patek and Lange. Of course at $150, it does not has the specs of these
luxury watches. The specs of 21 jewels, 3 Hz, 40 hrs power reserve,
non-chronometer, is similar to the Rolex 6694. With the hacking function, it's
one up on the Rolex, though. So, it's pretty high class, and looks good too.
If people know how rare a Three Centre Hand
manual winding mechanism is in the Swiss watch industry, this watch would be
sold out before it sees daylight.

Only thing keeping me from the sks is orients mako 2 that for less money hacks and handwinds. Love the blue ones.
Opted for the orient sun and moon rather than bambino but i do like bauhaus style esp the black dial! My s and m VERSION 4! Arabic numerals and non sculpted face. More of a plain jane. Wonder why they made that version? I thought they made a mistake at first. Because i havent seen any others. Maybe you could shed some light!
It is incredibly easy to tead without my glasses.
I want a swatch system 61 just because of the history.
Have my casio...version rangeman. Kind of hard to set the world time though.bthe barometer is spot on as is the temp and compass. Lots of timers but they all sound too weak.with radio control, difficult to catch atomic time here in bucharest.
Still indestructable though. I want another 5600 again a red one.
I want a barebones hamilton handwind with distressed leather strap...would go great with my ray ban aviators and my bomber real lambs wool collar flying jacket.
Marathon yes but the i want is over a grand! Hard to swollow for a plastic watch.
Wont buy a victorinox watch...i already own about 10 of their knives...
Thinking about a citizen chrono have a titaniam.
What do you think of recent citizen quality issues? Would really like that chrono eco drive.

Did I hear correctly, citizen has one of the best movements in a 200 hundred dollar watch ? I have the timex expedition, I have no complaints, it can be pulled off as a dress watch also with the blue dial ,

If I may.....if you feel the Hamilton and Orient are a bit too over-represented, then for a "field watch" or "dress watch" look at Russian brands from the Volmax group. Sturmanskie, Aviator, etc. There are There are 5 kinds of watches in this world 1.Luxury, 2.Affordable, 3.Fashion, 4.Cheap, and 5.Russian. They're a thing unto themselves. Give these watches a chance. If you choose the right models, they are steel case and mineral glass with in-house automatic movements. There is a direct lineage going back through Poljot to the First Moscow Factory in 1930s, which includes the first watches in space. Underappreciated IMO, these watches were in the Soviet space program and worn by Russian military in nuclear subs, Arctic deployment, and other extreme situations. Distinctive masculine styles, and a variety of automatic and mechanical movements such as the 24 hr. I have a few and think they're cool. An absorbing sub-genre of horology, at attainable prices. An itch that's both easy to get, and easy to scratch! Russian watches are more than the cheap Vostok Amphibians or over-priced gaudy Raketa.

Hi, I am from Bangladesh and a watch enthusiast. In fact your reviews had enriched my knowledge and ideas about watches a lot. It’s very difficult to get such watches from my country. Plus it’s difficult for me to get the expensive ones. From your particular this video I have collected my personal favourite ones. Seiko SKX 007, SNK 809, Orient Bambino and Mako, Casio DW5600. Sinn 104 I couldn’t find. Hamilton Khakhi I couldn’t buy at this moment. All of the watches I collected from from Amazon through my relatives and friends. The recent one I bought is Citizen BN0150-28e as I couldn’t find NY0040. My question is if it is a good one?? thanks a lot for this video. I’ll buy one good watch for around $2500 and saving money for that. Will take some time though..Can you also suggest anything for me? Thanks a lot again.

Thank you TGV for your content, I love this range of watches and it is good to know what quality you can get without needing to re-mortgage the house to afford. I got my first automatic watch about 10 years ago a pulsar YT57-X017. I have loved it but the scratched glass and the inability to change the steel bracelet, (and constant hair pulling, ouch), has led me to need to stop wearing it. Due to very limited budget i have just got a Timex expedition (classic) for now. Except the fact that the seconds markings don't seem to quite line up with the second hand movement i really like it and wear it on a bond nato. It will do for now but being quartz its not the daily automatic that i want. I am saving up for a Seiko 5 automatic, the SNZF17, to add to my collection later in the year.
