Nice video. I find that if I dig a plug and the pinpointer indicates that the signal is at the side of the hole, it is iron 95% of the time. I realize that this doesn't save anybody from digging the plug, but it can help one cut their losses if in a hurry.
Thinking about purchasing the 800 Equinox and enjoyed your video. Currently have the X-Terra 705 and not having the best of luck lately. Too much trash in my areas I guess. If fencing wire and nails were considered relics, I could open up a museum! Thanks for the tips, I would think some of them would apply to the 705 as well and I'll employ them and may just upgrade soon enough! Thanks again!
I have a place that I've pounded so hard for several years with multiple detectors that ALL I find there now with the equinox are nickels completely on edge and wheaties 6 or 7 inches deep co-located with nails! Every once in a while I'll bring up a deep silver after a good rain... but those falsing sounds are sure familiar to me! You learn to interpret them REAL quick after a pocketful of nails and only one or two wheaties! Thanks for the video.
Yep I have one of those sites too. Lots of falsing with a few good targets mixed in. I’m still amazed at how well the Nox hits those deep nickels on edge. Thanks for watching and commenting!
GREAT VIDEO. I would like though to point out maybe a 3 sided plug may be better for the ground to recover and leaves less an obvious trace that we were there.
Thank you sir! If it were someone elses lawn I would definitely be more careful. This video is recorded at my own property though. I've dug a million holes there and not too concerned about it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have a Minelab Excalibur 2 , and it also does the same thing sometimes, not all the time,. I dig the hole 🕳 and nothing is in it . But I have heard from others that this happens with a lot of different machines . Cool video. Mike Espo .
This is a great video! I wish this had been a single last year when I was learning. Well explained and will be extremely helpful to anyone who will listen.
Hey Nathan! Yep spent a lot of time digging that sweet sounding iron on my Deus too when I first got it. I still get fooled sometimes on that machine too! Thanks bud!
Just trying to catch up buddy!🤣 GREAT examples and descriptions of the two. Many an “old timer” have told me...THE most difficult thing you’ll have to learn is the difference between these two. It’s not always obvious but training your ear is the best way to come away with more good targets than bad. Coil control and paying attention to that one spot....well done again!😃
@@MetalDetectingNWGA To be honest...I sold my first one out of what turned out to be nothing but spite. Spite for ALL of the people (“reputable people”!) who were saying the EQX was consistently out hunting their CTX and FBS machines. Just NOT true. I liked the 800 for when the CTX gets a bit heavy, for the recovery speed when needed, for being able to switch to a single freq to escape EMI....I liked the machine as a whole. “Out hunting the CTX”? Utter and complete nonsense. It’s just a different tool, one that I can make better use of the second time around because I’m going to put all of the rhetoric and nonsense behind me and use it for what it’s good for...being an EQX.
@@wizardsofwisconsin7400 I couldn't agree more on all of the above. I love my Equinox and I reach for it every time I'm hunting a trashy spot where that speed will benefit me. But you see what I use more often than not. For the type of hunting I do, the CTX is just hard to beat. Honestly, I'd hate to be without either one of them. They both have their place. Now if Minelab could figure out a way to combine Multi-IQ and FBS into a single lightweight detector? I'd be all over it! Imagine having a lighter weight CTX running FBS with the traditional flutey tones and accurate ID, but with a "turbo" button that switches to a high recovery speed multi or even single frequency machine. I'm not even sure if that's possible, but if it was, take my money please!
Nails especially rusty ones will 99% of the time be off to the side of the hole but a coin can also be masked you can see how the nail was off to the side. I just dug two SLQ’s in a heavy hit park that were masked by rusty nails I bet most would have never dug that signal when I removed the nail I had a 30 on my Nox turned out to be two SLQ’s I do know for a fact that if you hunt saltwater deep silver will do the same thing horrible signal but you have to dig them .
Careful about your choice of words. Falsing is different from giving a bogus high TID on iron (which is a common problem with rusted iron targets). Falsing generally means that the detector sounds off when nothing is there and in most cases is caused by having too high of a sensibility setting.
The term I used may indeed be incorrect. To be clear, for the purposes of this video I'm referring to false good signals. Meaning ferrous targets reading similar to non-ferrous targets. I usually refer to it as falsing iron, though that too may be technically incorrect. Hopefully the demonstration shows a good enough example that most folks will still understand what I'm talking about. :)
@@MetalDetectingNWGA Falsing is exactly what your video describes here. I'm new to this sport; however, according to the blogs (metaldetectingforum_com) and videos I've gone through, you are correct. The term 'falsing' appears to be applied in other areas such as EMI and improper ground balancing and sensitivity settings (or as he puts it, "sensibility setting" ;) as Walter above mentions. BTW: Thanks for the great tips.
Lol, yep I do the same thing. I even circle around the target sometimes trying to convince myself it could be something good when my gut tells me it’s junk. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The price of the detector? The Nox 800 goes for around $800 give or take depending on seller. Depth depends on the target and soil. I've hit dimes at 9" it my soil with it.
Having some issues with the Nox 900. This is the first video I've seen regarding falsing that has made sense to me. Thank you
Glad you found it helpful. GL & HH!

Even if the tones are different the break over iron sound the same as the deus! Nice work!

En cas de doutes sur un son, vous pouvez passer du multifréquence au tout métaux, la cible donnera un son grave si c'est du fer.
Thank you.
great video.. thanks for posting..!
I might have missed it.. Park 2 & 5 tones.. are you using F2 OR F1 bias setting & at what level?
Hey thanks Okie! I still use the original FE iron bias setting set at 0 or 1. I have it set at 1 in this video.
Great demonstration. Just ordered the 6inch for my 600.
Thanks Jon.
Great video, thanks. Very clear explanations
Thanks Peter.

The Nox sure is a great at picking out those semi masked coins. Congrats on the SLQs!
simple explanation perfect 😉
Excellent info. Thanks for sharing
Thanks bud!
Nicely done. It took me a while to learn that the hard way lol. Thanks for sharing, good luck, happy hunting and take care.
Thanks man! Yessir I learned the hard way too. Spent my first few months digging sweet sounding iron junk. Lol
Very useful thanks
Thank you Sir. How to read the depth?
You’re very welcome. Do you mean how to interpret the depth meter on the Nox? On a coin sized target, each arrow is equivalent to roughly 2”.

Great video thanks
I have been dealing with this very issue, I feel like I did better with my Vanquish 540.
What is the digging tool you are using? Thank you.
Hey Ryan, I’m using the Predator tools model 55 Barracuda.
It's hard for me to pass up a target that gives at least half Non-ferrous signals. Thanks for the examples
Me too brother. Heck I still dig quite a few of the iffy ones. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I ldentify bing iron by first turning. Iron Volume down. And hunt with the hourshoe on. Jumpy signal.can be bottle caps and can slaw . Kenny
Love digging under those Magnolia Trees.
Me too brother. Found some silver under that very tree.

where did you get that shovel?
Predator Tools. It’s the Barracuda.
Good info.... thanks for sharing
Thanks Rob!
I'm guilty thinking if I dig a bad signal, it will turn into a good target. I get mad at myself everytime i do it. I know better.
Lol, yep I do the same thing. I even circle around the target sometimes trying to convince myself it could be something good when my gut tells me it’s junk. Thanks for watching and commenting!
All you had to do was a cross over the target. Most of the time, if it's iron, the signal will disappear.
That's basically what we're demonstrating here. :)
How much pls the pric
And deabth

Why not turn 180 and 98% of the time its iron try it your self ⛏️
That method does work, however, it will cause you to miss out on some good targets that are semi masked and only audible in certain directions.
hear on that sound its iron if you hear stuttering in the sound
Try to pump coil on target in all metal to check it.
Yep, I forgot to mention that method.
