Great. The yellow or brown oils and butters end up staining my lighter colored shirts. It looks awful during the workday. Have you experienced this? This is why I haven’t used some products. I use coconut oil and that’s it.
I personally haven't found that but I don't wear a lot of white shirts. I did notice oil patches when I used a high zipped coat under my chin and my beard was very long. Long beards are definitely trickier!
You might possibly be using too much product. Try using less, especially during the day. You should be able to run your hand across your beard after about 15-20 minutes and it not feel greasy. Also try using just oil during the day.
Just created, a man pack. Being a mechanic was just used to being dirty, and using magic orange for everything, and my wife hiding the nail clippers, I highly recommend creating a man bag, spent about $80 including lawn mower 2.0 so not too bad.
Good video. I mostly use oil and butter daily. I do have one balm but don't notice much difference with it My beard isn't very long yet though and I often end up trimming stray hairs off. Trying to go the whole month at least without a trim, maybe two months and hoping to get a barber to shape it better then.
Thank you! I've found a big difference using balm as my beard got longer...just more control and less wispiness. The butter I'm bringing out has no beeswax in it so it's very conditioning but has only a little hold. When you get to the Barbers focus on shaping rather than taking length off and that will allow your beard to really fill out. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Are you using beard oil and a brush? Also think about the amount of water you're drinking every day as well as if you're using shower gel on your beard when you wash it 👊 If there's an itch then it's the skin so adding beard butter may not be the answer. Beard butter is perfect for a longer beard as it focuses on the hair and softens it
@@westcorkbeardcompany I use beard shampoo twice a week. My my beard I think it's called. I also use brisk oil twice a day. It's my first beard so might be just the small hairs growing out.
@@lexingtonlad5745 Just checked the ingredients in Brisk beard oil and you may be sensitive to citrus essential oils. Also make sure that beard shampoo has decent ingredients. It all plays a role in an itchy beard
Do you have to wash one product out of your beard before you use another for example if I use beard oil does that have to be washed off the beard before I use beard butter etc?
Hi Caolán, no it's best not to. Think of beard oil as the base before the balm or butter goes on. You have to sort the skin out with the oil first before you move to the next product. I would use oil and balm together or oil and butter but rarely all three!
I want to create my own beard butter. Do you think I can mix the solid butter/oil (cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil) with the liquid ones (argan, jojoba etc.) ? Thanks.
@@westcorkbeardcompany Thanks for the reply! No need for beeswax? I don't really want to use it because I think it might add too much "strength" and stickiness to the beard. Do you agree?
I don't have a full beard, but my goatee is very long and full. Can i get away with just using oil and balm? I'm looking to get more hold and styling without having to do all these steps. Also, can i oil the night before and just balm in the morning? Thanks
Yes for both! I would only oil my beard if I was just after washing it to avoid any dry skin happening. You will know how your beard feels in the morning...a drop or two of oil if needed and beard balm to style is perfect. The beard butter is for extra softness but again every beard has different needs depending on washes, environment etc. Thanks for the question! Colin
Hi Colin! I got my purchase today ❤️ I'm a bit confused about the proper use of the products. On the card you sent with the products it says beard butter for the long beard and balm from 3-8 weeks. Here, you said balm for long beard to control the shape. My beard is about 3 months old y and I ordered the balm. Should I order the butter instead?
The balm is great to style your beard and keep it controlled throughout the day. It's a personal choice but I prefer the butter on a longer beard as it gives a bit of hold but adds lots of softness to the beard also. Use the balm and see how you go...if you are going to continue to have a long beard then I would definitely get some butter in the future. Delighted the products arrived and thank you again!
@@westcorkbeardcompany Hi Colin! I have to say, the scent of the sandalwood - Juniper oil is amazing! Unfortunately my skin gets itchy from it 😥 I don't know, if the Juniper or the sandalwood essential oil is the reason, but after a few minutes my skin rushing and start to itching. I tried to rule out if it's the oil or the cedarwood and fir balm,. it's definitely the oil. Maybe I have to purchase a.non scented one. The quality is Superb!
I would only ever put on beard balm after beard oil. Therefore your beard will be slightly damp from the oil when you apply the balm. Do however wait ten or fifteen minutes between the oil and balm. Beard balm alone on your beard over a few days can be drying due to the beeswax in it. Oil for moisture, balm for hold and control.
Just strolling by great information. As guy with a coarse hair after a few uses of balm within a week time span it starts to get heavy causing my beard to start looking a little deformed.
Great video, very informative but also easy to follow for us non bearded people. Thank you Colin 😊
Thank you Missi! Glad you got some info from it 🙌🏽
the butter feels amazing right out of the shower
Great to hear! 👏👌

Thank you! I would always use my hands. I show you how to apply the beard oil properly on this TH-cam channel. It's one of the first videos posted 🙌
What u think about body butter on beard
A disaster! It's water based so will just dry and look like beard dandruff on your beard. It also has poor ingredients for beard health 👍
What do you suggest to use on a 10mm beard?
I would use beard oil and balm on that length. Once it goes to about 15mm I would swap the beard balm for beard butter 👍
