I went to see Unlucky Morpheus on June 9th, which was Fuki’s birthday. It was wonderful to see her softer side, so happy and surrounded by band members and fans. The set list was awesome, showcasing a lot of variety. They started with songs from their new project, Unholy Orpheus. This song was performed as well. The only song Fuki participated in was fast, aggressive, and amazing. Unholy Orpheus relies more on violin melodies compared to regular Unlucky Morpheus songs. Jill was like a bird set free from a cage, dancing and thrashing her hair more in Unholy Orpheus. She is a beautiful and badass performer. Another music video from Unholy Orpheus is “Want to Live,” and they played that song too. Incredible. They also played regular Unlucky Morpheus songs, including an acoustic version of one. Additionally, they played a song from Quadratum. Unlucky Morpheus is also doing the opening song for a TV anime series starting in mid-July. They are one of the best live bands out there, so I tend to see them more than any other band. It's such a lavish experience to see them live, and it never gets old.🤘

It's really the 2nd release from this side project. The 1st was released almost 2 years ago, but they did not have a name for the band yet. [Official MV] Shiren from Unlucky Morpheus「want to LIVE」 th-cam.com/video/qXPUpsnrxcA/w-d-xo.html which is also a track off the album, that this song is off.
I perfer "want to LIVE" over "UNDEVELOPED LAND"

I didn’t notice that the harsh vocals are not good. I’m afraid they always sound a little bit similar to me. :) But I loved the contrast between heavyness and the dancing violin. As if you dance a waltz to escape the demons. Interesting.

I (Itai) that description. And yes, the contrast between the beautiful melody and the heavy metal music was gorgeous.
Thank you for taking the time to view and engage, Andrea. Much appreciated!

I agree about the vocals and I tend to love harsh vocals. These are not the type of harshes that I personally love, the more metalcore harshes have never really been my thing. That said, I received my physical copy of the album last week and I do enjoy it overall. There is more emphasis on the violin than I expected. Fuki is also featured in 1 track as a guest vocalist. If you want more Jill, she recently did an other project (called "Tonerico") with an other violin player. There is only 1 MV at the moment as far as I know, but I really like the whole album overall. It's a mix of a couple of genres, which make it sound a bit different compared to Unlucky Morpheus while still having some similarities. And yes, Quadratum is a cover project with the same lineup as this except for vocalist/guitarist Shiren. I probably like Quadratum also a bit over this, but that has even more emphasis on Jill's violin playing and to be fair, they don't have original songs.

Musically I liked the song, especially where the violin came in, that was beautiful. As always - growled vocals, not my cup of tea 😉
But I have to say, I really do find it very refreshing that you tell you opinion openly, even if something is not 100 % your thing. It's rare. Reactors that always love everything that is sent their way kind of invalidate the reactions. No one loves everything they hear.
It's a bit harsh if it's a song you love, to hear reactors say they don't like it, but it's honest, and that is important 😊

Absolutely. We believe that honesty is a must, otherwise what would be the point. We are positive people and always try to remain respectful to musicians, but when our personal opinion (and that's all that is) is not 100% loving it, we will voice it. Thing is, I really did like this song, but I did think the vocals were subpar. Maybe I'll get used to them, maybe not. Maybe I'll like this song even more once I get the lyrics translated, maybe not. It doesn't really matter as long as I do respect the musicians behind the song and their amazing ability.
Thank you for the kind words and for the continued support! MUCH appreciated!

@@myindieprodentertainment Well, I really respect your honesty. I heard reactors say that they got attacked by fans when they said that they did not like a certain song, so they don't put up those reactions anymore. That is absolutely shitty behaviour by the fans. Would I be sad if you told me you did not like a song I sent you? Yes. But I would also be glad you were honest about it and value the positive reactions even more.
I stand by it: Your channel is a breath of fresh air, and I hope you can keep it up ☺

I am guessing that Shiren wanted to go full on melodic death metal in an album but didn't want it in the Unlucky Morpheus catalog since it is a departure. I have read comments other places online that the new album is pointless. I don't agree. Shiren is a talented musician and songwriter and I have no problem with him giving death metal a try. The advantage he has is that the musicianship is better than most death metal bands, even melodic death metal bands. The problem is that Shiren is an average harsh vocalist. I have definitely heard worse (a lot worse) but I have also heard much better. For me, however, his vocals are not distracting because I listen to harsh vocals all the time and the musicianship, and Shiren's songwriting, is so strong. I enjoy the album and at only 33 minutes it doesn't overstay its welcome.

Yeah, and as I (Itai) was saying, I am probably likely to enjoy this song even more once I know the meaning of the lyrics in total. Musically, this was great. The vocals were a little subpar, which is something I've rarely seen in Japanese music, so it was a little surprising. Still, a good track and I look forward to hearing more from them.
Thanks for the awesome request and introduction to this band and for the awesome continued support, Dan! Much appreciated!
