Great taste and yes Jennifer did deserve more. An insult to her talents she never had a big hit with that song. She will always touch my heart with her music and her signature song 'The Power Of Love' my all time fave song.
37 years ago already. The infamous cold February (I was only one then) which dragged on and on. My sister had her middle name after that song 'Eloise'. My niece also has that name for her middle name! It's interesting seeing the lower rankers - some acts not got there yet, unknowns and even big names! You really make chart history alive. Olivia Newton-John in last place! Obviously not one of her memorable tracks. Mai Tai did try for the Netherlands for Eurovision 2004...and didn't get chosen. Random fact I know. The Klymaxx song was a big hit in the US, yet a flop here. Strange that. I was thinking that Prince Charles our new King lol 😂 This is a very strong lineup of songs. I know 1986 isn't as good as 1985 or 1984 but still a strong year. I never understood why Jennifer Rush never had a big career here in the UK. A huge mystery. My equal favourites are the underrated power pop song 'Madonna's Eyes' by Jennifer Rush; the catchy 'Manic Monday' by The Bangles. An excellent cover of 'Eloise' by The Damned. The classic 'Kyrie' by Mr Mister. The underrated here in the UK 'Silent Running' by Mike and The Mechanics, 'New York New York' by Frank Sinatra and a surprising one here....'Love Missile F1-11'. Just too many too choose.
Elton John is one of those artists who has had very poor chart positions in the singles chart but also had massive hit singles such as top tens and number ones.
Not going to lie, I was a bit iffy on this chart until "Kyrie" by Mr Mister came on. I don't think that there is an Eighties song with a better pop hook than that one.
