I'm rewatching this Reaction and can I just say, Its sad how 90% of these comments are about the whole Mina/Jimin controversy instead about the group's performance and music (there's more members to the group than Jimin). And it's especially sad seeing a new side to the whole story and how ridiculous this whole situation honestly was.
Regardless, AOA is an amazing group who's dropped many great songs and performances, they as a group did not deserve all this unnecessary hate.
That performance was kinda "shocking" (in a good sense, i hope) for koreans because they aren't used to seeing drag queens. So yeah, AOA was quite bold bringing them to the stage.
I also love when artists cover songs and put their unique spin on it.

dunno if you know mamamoo's 2016 mma performance or not, since it seems to have flown under the radar for quite a few people, but they did something similar there with the genderfluid dance troupe pinkycheeks. kinda sad that something like that didn't really happen again until aoa's cover here and then a final time with mamamoo's "hip"mv... but i suppose it's to be expected with such a conservative country

They'd been voguing dancers, rather seem to be a drag queen. It was a big twist telling either suits or high heels are not the exclusive property of one side Gender, especially on the stage.
International fans are always one step behind context and making up their own story. It's not just vogue dancers alone made them shocked. It's a combination of so many things.

this a competition between girlgroup in korea called queendom last year. this is the week where every group cover other group songs that participated in it. they change the way of the instruments. mamamoo final performance in this competition is fire 🔥 mamamoo-destiny and mamamoo won 😂😍
So Jimin controversy aside. This group was really really good and successful back in the day. They had a lot of amazing hits and super talented singers. Its unfortunate such a toxic person was in the group (though tbh, we still don't know the full story) because they had a revival after being on Queendom after being quiet for a few years and now it seems like they've fallen off again. I don't support Jimin, she has left the group and industry after the controversy but I still love AOA and am sad the others have to suffer the consequences.
Idk if I’ve dreamed it but didn’t Mina say the others were on Jimin’s side when they all went to her house and was hella mad when she had posted that instagram post and Jimin was all like ”you want me to fucking die for this shit!?!!!??!!” or some shit?

@@adara4635 it’s all over the place. Keep in mind, Mina was not in the best mental state at the time went she posted all those statements. From what I remember, her statements went back and forth. She’d hint at other members, then post again saying they weren’t to blame etc. Honestly there could be a lot of mistranslations in this whole situation too. It’s best to stay neutral in this situation instead just of just throwing everyone under the bus. It’s easy to want to believe the points where Mina hints at other members but because she seems to backtrack and side with the other members too, I honestly don’t think her words should be completely trusted either. Remember, there’s multiple sides to every story.
FYI, just so we’re clear, I’m not defending Jimin in any way and if the other members did in fact participate in the bullying or did nothing to stop it, then yes, I do think they deserve to be punished for it, but the fact is, the rest is all just speculation.

Mamamoo - I Miss You, the VOCALS!! You've heard snippets, it's time for the whole thing.
* - there is choreography where Miyeon crosses her hands in front off her mouth during her part and you can hear how that changes the way the headset mic picks up her voice, stuff like that. Plus the song is expressive af in ways you don't see in k-pop.

@@sharkerrr sadly a waste of good talent. If she was just... kind enough, AOA would have gotten a lot more fans and recognition especially with their image change after queendom. Only shows that attitude is one of the key things that gets you far in any field.

Mamamoo did the suits and gender bender esque concept in a 2016 performance, but what makes it special when aoa did it was that no one expects that from them. Their concept was a very girly sexy/ hyper feminine so it was cool seeing them switch it up
9:06 the backup dancers are actually Korean drag queens. I might be mistaken but they also are the ones Mamamoo recruited for their Hip MV where Solar was the singer of a very excessive rock band.
The mamamoo backup dancers were nana youngrongkim and bambi.
The dancers here are not drag queens (though they probably have done drag before), they are voguing dancers. And haejun (the center) is also an excellent waacker.

Hyejeong and Chanmi! Those are my 2 favorites from the group too. (pronunciation hae-jong and chan-mee). Also innocent in the bullying scandal around AOA.
Those were boys in heels with the girls in suits. Ironically, Mamamoo did that same concept a few years ago before they made Egotistic, with a different song. The stage started with feminine silhouettes in heels moving like they're performing, as the lights came up you see they're guys not Mamamoo, then the lights come up on silhouettes in suits and it's Mamamoo singing from there this whole time.
AOA did more live singing in this than other Queendom performances where they lip synched a lot more. They're from an era of K-pop where that was normal and it's just how they've always performed. But this is a Mamamoo song so out come the hand mics and vocals. It's the best placement in a round they ever got in the Queendom competition too.

This stage was inspired Mamamoo’s 2016 MMA performance (Melon Music Awards). Mamamoo’s performance remains iconic in my opinion because they broke down gender norms and displayed women empowerment. You can't rely on people with mental disorders to relay what really went on. Anyone who has professionally dealt with people who have these issues. Like Mina and Jimin have would tell you not to take anything they say publicly as what really what happen. I would take anything that Mina or Jimin say with a block of salt.
Being "Bullied" In south Korea is the norm. It is a shaming culture you will only get praise 1 out of 10000 times. So for Mina to say Jimin had a problem being a bully doesn't hold up when everyone that was above her would also be hard on all of the trainees.

So after watching the video and reading some of the comments I'm here to give details to things that I haven't seen be mentioned.
1. I know that you already know about the whole Jimin situation with the amount of comments you have about it. But to move on from that and maybe cheer you up there's a clip in the show where Moonbyul and Hyejin write how much they loved the cover and showed it to AOA like in a cheesy early 2000's romcom. Highly entertaining.
2. Queendom is a great show to get a bit of that LGBTea if you know what I mean. There's this cover of "I wish you were gay" that would probably give you a heart attack. I'm not saying you must react to it but..... that's exactly what I'm saying.
3. A little spoiler for Queendom if you decide to watch it is that MAMAMOO wins it. Their prize is a comeback stage. And they are receiving that prize with Travel.
There's probably some other stuff I missed but I'm sure moomoo's will help with that. Hope I helped out.

3:26 It's Jimin, sorry but I hate her... There was an AOA member named Mina and she left because of Jimin. She started posting on Instagram exposing Jimin and everything she did with her... She said that Jimin bullyed her for years, and always posted a photo of her cut wrists on Instagram, and about 2 months ago she tried to kill herself, but now she's getting better... Jimin apologized to her but I can't like Jimin anymore 😑 I already went through and go through what Mina went through with Jimin for bullying, and yes, I've tried suicide too and I understand her. That's why I hate Jimin... EXCUSE FOR HUGE TEXT 🤣🤣
I get your thinking, and while I don't disagree or want to defend Jimin I'd just like to point out that their agency was horrible and seems to have mistreated Jimin herself. Shit flows downhill and it seems like management basically put all the weight for managing everything the group did on Jimin then gave her shit when the group wasn't doing well enough, putting her in a situation she was in no way equipped to handle.

This shouldn't have been allowed to happen at all, it certainly shouldn't have been allowed to continue, and it should not have been allowed to fester and keep going for several years. There's a massive failure of the upper leadership who took some *very* young people and basically threw them into the ocean then yelled at them for drowning.
While I understand the desire to take sides and make this a thing about Mina and Jimin I just feel like understanding the *why* is much more important if we want it to never happen again, and in that regard putting the blame on Jimin seems like an easy but ultimately misplaced solution that will distract from solving the underlying issue.
And I get that's not a great point of view for Mina, who needs therapy and help to deal with her issues. Or for Jimin, who I can only hope has or at least is trying to become a better person. But that's the view I think is most productive for us to take, since we are not directly involved with either person and can't help them individually, so we're limited to putting pressure on agencies to take care of their idols properly.

Egotistic is my favorite song from mamamoo too, so when I was watching queendom and AOA had to cover one of their songs I was like: not egotistic, not egotistic, not egotistic. But after it I loved it so much! I was ready to stan AOA and listen to their other songs but after all the scandal in the group I just couldn't anymore. Everyone was so shocked cause AOA is known for super sexy concepts so seeing them all in suits being suave and cool was like a bomb went off. A lot of people thought they didn't have to vocals for it either but they did so well! And the dancers that come out for the dance break are not girls, 😁. The 2 you liked were Hyejong and Chanmi (red hair).
And yes that was Park Bom! This episode was all about covering each other's songs. She did G-idle's Hann and they covered 2NE1's debut song, Fire.
If you want to check out some more covers, seventeen have covered a couple of mamamoos songs (egotistic and decalcomanie are the ones I remember) furthermore, both groups have actually done a joint performance collaboration before! AOA 😭 one of my favorite girl group. I came to watch because i saw aoa in the title, they have many good songs
Of all the intros you could do, I never expected to be love shake 😂 loved it!
As someone who loved AOA so much, the bullying news/scandal was really upsetting. I cheered for them so hard all throughout Queendom (their first performance on that show, Miniskirt, DESERVED to win that episode). All their performances in Queendom were amazing, but now watching this, there's such a bitter taste to me.
This was AOA's first time performing as a 5-woman group because two members had left (both of which were very popular amongst fans. Actually, ChoA was probably one of THE most popular girls in Kpop during the time and both she and another girl, Mina, ended up leaving). Lots of drama there so I suggest you read up on it. Definitely some depression/self-mutiliation triggers though. Anyways, this was their first performance losing two members. I really cheered them on a lot but now it's sad watching this stage again.
The "girls" dancing with AOA are actually drag queens. The performance itself was seen as a huge breakthrough for LGBT members in South Korea (even though Mamamoo had previously already done a performance similar to this a couples years ago where they also donned suits). This performance was actually polarizing (some people LOVED it, and some really did not like it). I still love AOA's songs but it's sad to see them now knowing everything that happened.
Additional info.. this concept was first performed by MAMAMOO back in 2016, also only MAMAMOO can give impact on “brrr” and “bicho malo” part..
AOA (Ace of Angels) debuted in 2015 and started as a 8 member group now down to 4 members , last to leave was Mina (leader) to rapper after alligations of her bullying. But they do have some reals bops i.e. Mini Skirt and Good Luck (covered by Mamamoo in Queedon)
This performance is from Queendom, a kind of contest for groups who are comebacking as well as some well known rookies, to kind of help them promote more and the AOA - Egotistic performance was from the "Cover" Mission (sort of).
AOA is one of the awesome groups back then when they were complete. They had a member, ChoA, who's really one of the great singers out there too but had to withdraw from the group I think around "Excuse Me" promotion. Heart Attack is one of their great songs too, as well as Like a Cat. Elvis is AOA's debut single. The group also had a band version called AOA Black with the song, Moya.
The group has been surrounded by lots of controversies lately, and what Jimin did is really gruesome, but as a fan who've seen this group grow, I can't neglect the fact that she slayed her parts. I hope she can reflect to her wrongdoings, and praying AOA can still continue or if not, each member be on their best paths possible.

1. The best cover from Queendom was Oh My Girl covering Lovelyz' "Destiny."
2. AOA has recently imploded under the Jimin bullying scandal, but I think that the group ended after Choa left. AOA started as a band that also danced, but that didn't sell, so they ended up switching to sexy performance idol group. For early AOA, check out their debut track, "Elvis." It has both a performance and a band version, and it is from this song that the fandom got its name. There was also a sub-group called AOA Black that had a good track, "Moya." Then, they released "Bingle Bangle," then Mina (the victim of the bullying) left. Their last release before what is essentially their disbandment is "Come See Me," which is quite good. My favorite AOA song is "Hear Attack."
So while I don't agree with how jimin has behaved, her line of "I don't want to a flower that falls, I'm a tree" is a reference from Unpretty rapstar when cheetah called her a pretty flower.

Yes that was Park Bom, also on the show, competing alone. other groups included (G)-idle, AOA, Lovelyz, OHMYGIRL, and MAMAMOO (of course). about 9 or 10 eps. each on about 35-40mins. Great laughing content, and bonding between groups; all from different companies. It's pretty great content. Not to mention the fact that it's an all out battle for the title of The Queens of KPOP. RIGHT BEFORE ALL OF THEIR SIMULTANEOUS COMEBACKS! on HALLOWEEN MIGHT I ADD!!!
They did a great job, but my favourite cover performance in Queendom was the one done by Oh My Girl , they did a really moving performance of the song "Destiny" originally released by the girl group Lovelyz.

When you watch tv shows like this, just keep in mind that Korean tv shows loveeee to repeat scenes. For example, showing audience's shocked reaction and then back to the same timing of the performance, so you'll hear like twice of the same part. Like in 6.25 minute. Queendom has versions of like the original performance without showing audience reactions and any repeats or cuts, you can search them up!

The back up dancers are actually males dressed in feminine outfits and heels. It was a gender-switch performance. AOA had traditionally put on overly sexual concepts, most of them planned and pushed forward by their management, and thus has been targeted for many ridicules and sexual harassments. But on this stage, they have pulled off this gender-switch version to everyone's surprise and the crowd went wild. Then they released a new single after that, which was nice but then after that it has been reveled the leader, the rapper, bullied a former member who had left the group several years ago. So now the leader left the group also and the rest of the group is kind a on hold in a way. Yes, the former leader bullied one of their former members but it should not take away from the fact that the rest of the girls has put on an amazing and moving stage that day on Queendom.
Instead of talking about Jimin we can all shower ChoA with infinite love for being the backbone of AoA.

I'm exited that you start to react stages on queendom! Dancers appeared in the middle were male dancer in sexy outfit while AOA as a girl group wear black suit. They want to show that girl can also be handsome and boy can also be pretty sexy in girly outfit.
Although there were some disputes happened on JIMIN the rapper of AOA after queendom, she also quit singing and rapping since then, but I think they all still did the great job and put many effort on queendom stage. So hope you can react to other stages, especially 'good luck' covered by MAMAMOO.
