Dude, the very first time I went to play paintball, my cousin and I (our families were really close growing up) were able to talk our dads into going with us. As we were driving to the location (an in-ground warehouse with loud music and very little lighting) I remember us all talking about not wanting to get shot in the nuts. Well, 3 of the 4 of us actually did get some degree of nut shot. And though we were all on the same team, I startled my dad around a corner and he panic squeezed the trigger, tagging me directly in the frank & beans. Like imagine if you take it to the limit and you hug the face to the wall then your enemy can see your shoulder while you are staring at the wall. Just curious if you guys could answer. I'm a gun guy but I've never gotten training firearms like this and have been interested in a while. Wondering how safe they really are. I noticed you doing this very close to the road and other civilians passing by, is that perfect legal and okay? Did you get permission first? Do they have range to get to the road? Just looking for some insight, appreciate it if you respond
@@hard2hurt I'm just curious about the legality and safety of shooting so close to the road with cars passing by more than anything. I'm a long term viewer. Love your stuff. Just genuinely curious
I think the T4E systems are really awesome little tools. They're very similar to these (including the same 43 and 50 caliber markers) that can actually be perfect replicas of the weapon they simulate (Walther PPQ, M&P, Glock, even AR-15) and provide the same type of training opportunity. But with the T4E stuff, you can find a pistol similar to your carry gun and even use the same holster and everything. Unfortunately, they don't yet make a Walther PDP version (which is my EDC pistol with the full grip and 4.5" barrel) otherwise I'd already be using it. But the T4E products seem extremely well-made for force on force training/sim which can still use the pepper balls or the other defensive rounds
100% correct! If you train to stop every time you get hit, then you're training to lose. If you train to keep going, then, if at all possible, you will keep going.
I purchased a couple of these types of launchers and had put off training with them, because I was worried they would cause too much damage. I guess I'll make sure to include cup, neck guard, and maybe something for the xyphoid area.
2:16 "We feel we need to be against this." One other bad thing about leaning on a wall in a gunfight is that bullets run along walls. If a bullet hits a wall at an angle, the portion of the momentum of the bullet that's into the wall is absorbed, but the portion of the momentum along the wall isn't - so the bullet then travels along the wall. Bullets don't hit walls like pool balls hitting table buffers. :D
I used to work at an airsoft field and my boss bought a bunch of pepperballs and kept them in the tech room for some reason. My coworker found them and thought "these paintballs would make cool slingshot ammo," and shot them against a target near our ventilation system. We told him they where pepperballs when we found him shooting the last one. It was hillarious to slowly watch the entire building start hacking, crying, and leaving.
I've got a similar product, the rubber balls I bought are called rubber-steel balls if I'm not mistaken, I'm actually not sure how much of the ball is steel, I suspect most of it is, I wonder how much more effective it would be, I actually shot a block of wood with it, just some 2x4 from home depo, and it left a nearly perfect dent in the wood about a quater inch deep maybe, so I think a face shot would be devastating. the eye shot is a no brainer(maybe literally) but I think it would pull teeth quicker than any dentist and I'm even concerned that at particularly close range there could even be risk for skull fractures on certain areas of the head. They are .43 cal so i think you can use them as well.
Question for Mike, when Seth is taking cover from behind the car. Why would he try to peek you if you already have the gun on him? Wouldnt it be better for him to hold an angle and wait for you to pass into it?
Because successfully counterfighting requires lots of skill and experience. Same as boxing, mma etc... getting beginners to be aggressive and proactive while observing fundamentals is always the first order of business.
If we're talking real firearms, the cover Seth had was marginal (but the best he could get). Bad Guy Mike could blast rounds through the car and hit him without passing into view. Not to mention getting flanked because he ran around the other side of the car.
Nice video. Those 0.43 caliber pepperballs have much less OC than the 0.68 caliber balls on a per round basis. It's a compromise between size for EDC and how much aerosol cloud you can effectively generate.
This is kind of a silly comment. You can put a high concentration in a small pepper ball and a tiny amount in a big one. It varies by brand and formula. I have tried many kinds of .68 caliber projectiles. These were stronger than some, weaker than others.
In theory, but if they don’t disclose the actual amounts it’s very subjective. There’s no way to know how much active ingredient is there in order to compare apples to apples.
What’s the OC percentage? Is it OC or PAVA? As a scientist, I work with actual concentrations based on molarity (molecular weight of the active compound). These companies and their proprietary blends need to be transparent so that consumers can make rationale decisions.
I have no idea. You indicated that you knew. What is the OC percentage? You said it was less, so I'm sure you know... what with you being a scientist that works with aCtUaL CoNceNTraTiOnS!
I was thinking about getting a lancer scorpion 50 cal, i have a mub 50 and torpedo revolver from mercury rise and they are around 13 joules, 320ishfps on 2.8 gram, 1.5 gram gives it 17 joules starting around 500 fps, i like the lancer because its more concealable, but its not as powerful but with 0.8 gram pepper ball and 1.5 gram nylon balls its a good option, i would nt shoot heavy balls out of it because its not moded!
I was ready to drop $300 on a pepperball gun before I realized the only reason I wanted it was to play around with. The big boy bear spray style pepper spray canisters are way more reliable and potent if you actually wanted to rely on pepper spray for self defense
I practiced catching blowback pistol in short range. As well as my friend karate champion was surprised as well as police man asking me how did you know catch it like this? It was once in 2008 and not very far from now. Last toy tool we use was glock plastique ball spring engined toy. I use my left hand when attacker carry it in his right. It gives me opportunity to do two moves either swing the hand one or a other side. Main goal is to give a shot with lock blowback which should jam the pistol another action if attacker is smaller we can try swing his arm and release pistol. As I would act those two scenarios will make sense in 10-20% of situations. It is not real amount of situations it may just picture how do I think any of those applies might be used. As many other defense against, best eay is to try to survive alive which means run hide run hide, be safe.
I've watched several of your videos. you've used a wide array of pepperBall guns and ammo. Can you tell us what ammo you prefer for accuracy and which ammo for most horrific reaction (pepperball / tear gas) rounds. There are so many out there and some of those pepperball rounds don't seem to cause any reaction other than a few coughs.
The pepper ball doesn't seem to affect you nearly as much as a good oc spray and oc spray doesn't always stop a determined attacker. So I'm going to say this would only work in an armed robbery situation where the robbery was already wanting to leave the situation but if he's got a gun and you have pepper seems like more of a risk than anything. I'd feel better with 12ga where the first two rounds have a rock salt and cayenne Wax slug and the rest of the tube is turkey load but even the wax slug would probably be pretty lethal at close range
When the training weapon is a weapon in itself. Looks like multiple shots are necessary when using less lethal guns. And these stiffs look pretty effective with proper training and drills.
Are you guys not worried about getting engaged from the street by some hot-head or even having the police called when you're pointing firearm replicas in the parking lot?
@@3nertia True, strip malls like that tend to have specific officers that take that area, they probably are in semi frequent contact and know eachother
You may or may not have tested the Byrna in the past, I can’t remember. Me living in California I thought it’d be nice to have something lying around. I’ve had it for a few months but haven’t had to use it, and there’s not that many good reviews with the testing. would love to see you guys test it out along with the different rounds
Excellent content and the reality of the shots and the effects of the pepper-ball powder. Happy to know it really would cause attached to re-evaluate their initial thoughts of attack and turn to retreat.😅
can you do the same exercise with the car but switch the roles in this video it looked like the attacker has a huge advantage and i give that to the difference in skills (which technically is realistic) but still would like to see how effective this approach would be if you do things right

So for self defense it sounds like train to double tap - which would be easy to paint on top of eachother with the (near) lack of recoil.
Think real hard, dude. You can work this out.
Probably the first time a group of men come walking around a corner coughing, with red watery eyes, that did not involve the herb 😂
Not true at all. Not even true for that specific corner.
Been following your content for a bit now and the more I learn the more I learn I haven't learned and I am grateful 🤣
That was the best shooting video I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you. A lot to unpack there. Be safe.
I would LOVE this training, absolutely amazing!!!
“Lean in, bleed later.” IcyMike, new merch?
Nice finally caught an awesome video early
Right. That's what I'm saying. You said they have less. That's the opposite of saying there's no way of knowing... you got crossed up.
Have you tested the Grimburg Gavle yet? I hear people saying it is more powerful than even the Byrna.
So THIS is the difference between Japanese and American Karate. :))
Hahaha good line
This is so cool. Are there any channels that focus on this stuff? shootout sparring and drills?
Cool to be in video with so many super cool and fun youtubers
15:59 difference between precision and accuracy
What should I search for to see more videos like this of shoot-out training?
Love when y'all do videos together!!!
Great stuff and thank you.
i need this while im in my motorcycle! these are amazing
I really admire Seth, he’s got lovable goofball energy but he’s not afraid at all to show that he’s still learning. I should be more like that.
Learning something new each time. Keep up the videos 👍👍👍
They have carbon fiber ones too!! And defense ones with metal bbs that come out the sleeve after impact.
If it's dangerous enough to warrant shooting pepper balls at it, it's probably too dangerous to shoot pepper balls at.
Glad to see the boys are back 👋👋
When the training weapon is a weapon in itself. Looks like multiple shots are necessary when using less lethal guns. And these stiffs look pretty effective with proper training and drills.
Are you guys not worried about getting engaged from the street by some hot-head or even having the police called when you're pointing firearm replicas in the parking lot?
The entire gun is bright orange so maybe that plays a factor, as opposed to BBs which are only bright tipped. Plus the camera guy is there.
The police know that what happens in that parking lot, stays in that parking lot. So, basically a poison pepper cloud rolling over the strip mall.
He may even have alerted, met and spoke with police before filming - then they'd know to ignore any calls they get pertaining to his property :)
[No one would dare question or confront Icy Mike on the street. He trains UFC!]
Am I part of the cool kids club now? 😅🤣
You're like Kevin's stunt double.
@@Jamoni1 well shit 😅
Oh no... i hope that's not what you were working on. You took a really wrong turn.
@@hard2hurt I am lost 😭
I've so missed you guys abusing each other.. 😂😂😂😂 educational and fun
Yo whats up icey mike I always enjoy your viedos man. I also wanted to thank you for your service as a police officer
Excellent content and the reality of the shots and the effects of the pepper-ball powder. Happy to know it really would cause attached to re-evaluate their initial thoughts of attack and turn to retreat.😅
This one was a fun episode! Cheers 😘
This was a fantastic video and really really helpful.
Hello, Is this pepper gun better than pepper spray and taser guns?
Well done gentlemen. Very informative. Take care. ☘️
I love this guy
"I've been waiting for this day my whole life"...
"WHAT????"
😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
can you do the same exercise with the car but switch the roles
in this video it looked like the attacker has a huge advantage and i give that to the difference in skills (which technically is realistic)
but still would like to see how effective this approach would be if you do things right
As usual excellent video coach!
