Same honestly. Same people are working on it, and they have yet to admit their mistakes so I'm guessing they learned nothing from the experience having not addressed any of the criticism. Instead they are burying their heads in the sand again, by removing criticism on steam in mass and banning people for criticizing the game on their subreddit. I expect more of the same bland and forced dialogue that dragon age had. Even professional narrative directors on X were criticizing DA dialogue and its direction, so its not just the randos complaining. Probably the real reason there is no DLC. If dragon age was a break out success like andrew wilson wanted it to be EA being EA would have tried to milk it. Personally I think it just sold poorly which is the reason there is no DLC. But I digress, Andromeda, the last entry was not great either, so my expectations were already low, but now that I know the dragon age team is working on it, that has probably sealed their fate. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Definitely a hard pass, unless I hear the game is extraordinary from trusted sources, but sadly I think that is unlikely.
my only expectation is that it will be woke dei in space with a robot or AI that will claims to be non-binary (face palm) and somehow they will make straight white men (probably with orange tinted skin) as the bad guy's again. (sarcasms) considering the company and the writer are the same.
Andromeda had a lot of good stuff. Vaults are a cool idea for the specific galaxy part, multiple loyalty missions for each crew member, combat is 10/10, Nomad was alright, had no complaints about it. It's just the empty open world, dialogs, lack of variety of enemies and some other stuff that ya'll can name. Imma give them one last chance. Dialogs/companions/sidequests in Veilguard are worrying me tho. And always remember fellow gamers: never pre-order a game.

Well, it all depends on who directs the project. As far as I know, they assured that Mass Effect will retain its essence from the original 3. Let's hope it's real and they learn from Veilguard
It may not take as long as you think since Mass Effect is being made on UE while Dragon Age was made on Frostbite and is the core reason for why it took so long to make. It is also the core reason for Andromeda being a disaster. Andromeda had funding pulled and was tasked with having a team learn how to make an RPG on an engine built for FPS. The switch to UE5 is huge in every sense of the word because now Bioware can actually get more staff and make this game quicker since a lot more devs know UE than Frostbite.
@@DNye it definitely won't make it take longer that is for sure! There is a lot more game devs out there that know Unreal than frostbite which is EA/Dice proprietary. EA thought they could get away with saving some cash by using that engine but it proved a lot more difficult to do than they thought hence the extra long dev cycle to get Andromeda out. Plus there is a mod out there for Andromeda that makes it a FPS and the game actually runs better with it because that is what the engine is built for.

Their lessened enthusiasm for n7 day, suggests they themselves know that what they have available isnt going to restore enough faith in the brand. I personally dont have much faith in the devs behind the new mass effect. One of the devs response to the US election results was telling enough for me that they arent mature enough to lose with grace, so how can they take criticism with a level head as well? I would be happier if they brought in a new team that spent more time researching the previous installments, and look at the opinions of the market that bought the old games instead of trying to broaden their net. Bioware is in sore need of 'doing a No Mans Sky', where they quieten down on social media and put all resources into restoring their foundations and rebuilding the trust of the old market that were there from the start.

They worked on Veilguard for almost 10 years and this is what they came up with. With Masseffect 5, they have just started now and want to be finished in 2029, I have no more hope. Veilguard is a game for kids on a cell phone, too much blink blink.

Spoiler Alert for Mass Effect Trilogy: Many others will cite Andromeda, Anthem, or Veilguard as the reason for the lack of trust in BioWare - but I think the decline started as early as ME3 and Inquisition. It's no secret that the ME3 ending is widely criticized - it ruined the entire trilogy for me. The entire game was rushed, including the ending. Plus, what they did with Cerberus is a massive missed opportunity, as they had the chance to make Renegade Shepard side with Cerberus against the Reapers AND the Alliance - but instead, they just made The Illusive Man indoctrinated and eliminated the opportunity for nuanced player decisions like the ME2 Renegade ending that involves handing over the Collector base to Cerberus. And Inquisition... It was like Veilguard but not as bad yet. No ability for evil or morally grey choices, less roleplaying freedom than Origins and DA2, and overall a worse experience. Veilguard is not the reason BioWare is bad - it's a symptom of a decline starting as early as 2012 (ME3 release). Most of the original people who made BioWare great left the company and are now working on other projects - such as EXODUS. I am definitely very interested in EXODUS, but have little faith in BioWare.
@@DNye I'm glad you do! You may not actually notice any flaws in ME3 like I do because I'm one of the few Renegade main players. ME3 is peak for Paragon players in my opinion. I also greatly enjoyed ME3, it was very well written with perhaps 80% of the writing quality and RPG freedom from ME2 - as well as the ability to literally decide the fate of several species such as Quarian/Geth/Krogan. But of course, writing the final entry of a trilogy will always be an incredibly difficult task. In my opinion, Inquisition has perhaps 40% of the quality writing, Andromeda has around 30%, and Veilguard perhaps 5%. I do miss the writing standard set by ME2, Dragon Age: Origins, Jade Empire, and KoTOR 1 (as well as KoTOR 2 from Obsidian). That was BioWare at their absolute peak. Consider checking out EXODUS, a game developed by ex-BioWare developers. They're planning a full reveal in December.
I doubt this is any part of a 'new strategy' that's going to be broadly applied going forward. I think they just don't believe story DLC for Veilguard will be worth it. Just like with Andromeda, they don't think the game will be successful enough to merit it. Everything else is corporate BS. If they thought DLC would make enough money to offset the opportunity cost of focusing on Mass Effect 5, they would.
Yoi forgot to mention one crucial detail, Bioware didn't just only move their attention to ME, they transferred the entire dev team from Dragon Age to make the new ME. Hopefully the activists will be removed from the gaming industry before they work on ME.. otherwise it'll be garbage.
@DNye If the activists are removed and ME goes back to it's roots, it might be worth ordering. But on N7 day they stayed very silent due to the intense backlash from Dragon Age. If politics are left out of games it will be fine.
I feel like BioWare should have gone the same road as cyberpunk in terms of fixing the game post launch. They really just put in a few updates and dropped the game entirely. I’ve been playing through andromeda this week and honestly the gameplay combat mechanics still hold up. They’re slightly clunky with the use of jetpacks and the dash but I’m loving the play through. The dialogue and facial expressions were a major drawback which in today’s world are small things compared to how many new games have been launching. I think we have gotten looser on what we consider good games. I love the mass effect series and I’m playing the new mass effect if it’s good or bad. I just really hope it’s going to be good or mid at least 😂
If Bioware understands "mature tone" as photorealistic graphics only it will be a mess. I hope that they forget the boring politically correct conversations and do not ruin the classic characters.

Dragon Age: The Wokeguard was an abject failure. Linear story, false choices, cringe dialog, etc. I'm not holding my breath that Mass Effect won't get the same if not similar treatment. the rerelease was already done only to "Fight the male gaze" and the board game had the They/Them pronoun on Liara when it is directly written in multiple locations throughout the games that the Asari race are specifically ALL FEMALE. I'll be waiting for proper reviews to come out before ever buying a game again, I've been burned and disappointed far too many times to fall for that scam again.

It's getting to the point where I pray to God they don't release new additions to beloved franchise. I don't know who'll they profit off of with their woke garbage. The world rejects them, yet they stay persistent in returning like a swarm of cockroaches...

Dragon Age: The Wokeguard was an abject failure. Linear story, false choices, cringe dialog, etc. I'm not holding my breath that Mass Effect won't get the same if not similar treatment. the rerelease was already done only to "Fight the male gaze" and the board game had the They/Them pronoun on Liara when it is directly written in multiple locations throughout the games that the Asari race are specifically ALL FEMALE. I'll be waiting for proper reviews to come out before ever buying a game again, I've been burned and disappointed far too many times to fall for that scam again.

@@DNye i undestand that buddy, i love mass effect. played 1 and 2 several times befor they came to steam and bought legendary edition to play it again several times. i would love to have another big mass effect like the old way. but all the "we will keep the tone of the original trilogy" is just lying. if they wanted to keep that, why is andromeda such a disappointment? why did the mass effect boardgame already got pronouns implemented that ignore the lore? there is simple no way for bioware to keep that agenda out of the game with current devs, no matter if they want to or not. its so sad
