The thing about the horror aspect…I hope they use it to their advantage. Space is terrifying with a lot of dark corners. I hate horror stuff but I hope they use it well.
@MaybeBecause-m8t is dead space horror or a thriller? I've been wanting to try it but I'm not a horror fan...but sometimes stuff classified as "horror " are more like thrillers.

This looks like a real adult game. Not sexually, or with gore, but with a story equal to an Arthur C Clark or Isaac Asimov book. Or that's how it looks to me. Not sure why, but this reminds me of "Childhood's End". I hope the game is as good as it looks so far. Great video Kala, as always.
The story of ME1 is what drew me in... the science of ME1 was fringe at the time but we have found how to reduce the mass of objects now. It was very interesting and the fact it could be true even drew me in further
I'm so tired of not being able to get excited for new games. So please, please, please bring this one home brothers as i am starting to get excited and i don't want my hopes crushed yet again.
I stopped getting excited about new games a while ago :( But is nice when a game comes out of nowhere and becomes great so I'm always expecting surprises. The only exceptions for me that would get me super excited are something new from Mobius (Outer Wilds) and team Ico but alas who knows if that's ever gonna happen :(
Whatever else comes of this game. I can cling to the knowledge that I enjoy Drew's writing style and imagination. His attention to detail and world building is what hooked me with Mass Effect and the first 3 ME novels to start with.
Exodus is the exact type of rival mass effect and bioware as a whole need to seriously surpass themselves up the standard of the RPG genre I don't say that as a doss against bioware but Exodus seriously LOOK like what I wanted Andromeda to be.... A deep new lore, a mature tone, an completly unknown and alien that defy the logic we had in previous games etc.... All I need is a decent gameplay it doesn't even to be great just decent The devs are also great at communicating and promoting their game.. Each welenwe have a something interesting coming
Thank god this is in production. Because I have zero faith in Mass Effect 4 after 100%ing DA Veilguard. I'm still angry at myself for giving Bioware the benefit of the doubt after Anthem and ME Andromeda and trying DA Veilguard.
Mass effect is a hard act to follow but those of us that played me1 on release never thought it would grow to be as big is it did Exodus gives us a bit of optimism
The Tie-in Novel, 'Exodus: The Archimedes Engine' was so good at building up the world that this game is set in, I listened to it's nearly 31 hour length on Audible completely absorbed in it's world building, characters, and game concepts (like introducing the type of weapons, special abilities, and enemies you'll encounter in the game); this is easily my most anticipated game at the moment, next to Mass Effect 5, of course.
Been waiting on this video! I swear NOBODY on the internt has been keeping up with Exodus like I have aside from you! Maybe I should start a page just about exodus info.....
I'm looking forward to it with moderate enthusiasm. I don't want to be overly excited like I was with Andromeda and Veilguard. even though I've been critical to a degree about those games I enjoyed them in the end for what they were.
Oh wow, I just looked it up and had no idea the book is by Peter F Hamilton. I've read a few of his book over the years and loved them. I'm mostly into audiobooks now for time, but will grab a copy when available.
Finished the novel yesterday. It’s great. Insofar as how it will affect the game: good worldbuilding - not top tier I’d say, but very far from bad, easily as good as Mass Effect. And lots of interesting potential plot points
I really hope that the writers for the next mass effect give it a adult tone, instead of “marvel writing” and that EA gives BioWare the time to make it how they want too (and BioWare taking what their fans want into consideration) until then I’m super keen for this! Sci-fi is something I hold dear to my heart thanks to mass effect so to hear that this is similar to the trilogy definitely puts it on my radar now
I have a feeling Exodus universe have already fully developed, completed and finished lore. Devs give us small bits and bytes here-there and make us hungry and nuts for it, and that is for sure good thing....can't wait.
Cautiously optimistic, but after Starfield I'm more cautious than optimistic. Still can't understand why no-one except BioWare can make a game that I find great, but maybe this time it's going to work.
Looking at this game reminds me of how much of a lightning in a bottle the Mass Effect series was/is for me. Exodus hasn't clicked for me yet. The trailers show a blue/grey aesthetic that is very common in science fiction but that I don't particularly like; it makes the world feel cold, not some place I would like to spend time in. Maybe future footage will show that the game has its own equivalent of the Citadel, but I don't think this is what they're going for.
So happy to hear you covering all the new exodus lore in this video, you have great takes But it would be good to hear how you found the Archimedes Engine in a dedicated video
I have mixed feelings about this game being coined the next Mass Effect, but it’s less to do with this game as it does to do with BioWare’s OG trilogy. The universe they created was so…damn…good. And I would have preferred to see much more of it, if BioWare weren’t so darn incompetent now. The chances of Exodus having that compelling a universe seems slim, but I’ll give it a go.

Have they explained why FASTER than light travel has a time dilation effect? Usually, it's traveling NEAR the speed of light that causes time dilation, and while I get this is Sci-fi, I'd still like to know some of the technobabble. The distances they have the PCs traveling mean we're definitely traveling hundreds of times faster than light...
@@FabianWinkler But the lore says they are using alien tech to go faster than light. Specifically "The Pathways-an interstellar transportation network accessed only via the Gates of Heaven". and honestly, if they were exploring at sublight, it wouldnt be months or years between missions, it would be centuries; the fact that humans used sublight to REACH the centauri cluster is why celestials had tend of thousdands of years, enough time to evolve into new species.
20:00 If anything, im more curious. Im open to trying it out and look into it deeper. Side note: Imagine a Mass Effect easter egg. Probably wouldnt mention any characters or events. Just saying it would be a cool easter egg.
I am just going to block out Andromeda, and whatever EA pukes out next. This imo is viewing of what should have been ME4. I am soooo excited about this game.
As long as I don't have to play as a generic looking protagonist I'm interested. Tired of seeing the same looking characters "save" the day/world/universe.

It looks like they aren't even going to let us pick our character's first name this time. Disappointing I miss the good old days where pretty much every RPG allowed naming the protagonist. Though I'm confused about how our character can both be fully customizable yet not allow us to customize their name. And honestly if Jun is supposed to be hiding wouldn't giving him or her an alias, or several to use be one of the early steps? At least some of the Celestial small arms look interesting. Hopefully either we can use their guns, humanity developed energy weapon small arms too, or better yet both. Also I hope they add more companions because five seems an incredibly small team. Especially if they pull a Vimire on us. I'm still annoyed we apparently won't be allowed to control our ship in playable combat. I've been hoping for that to be added since Mass Effect 1 because the lack of playable space combat always leaves me feeling like my Shep is more a passenger with authority over where the Normandy goes then the commander of a armed ship and I expect to feel the same about my Jun or Juns . And I'm really not sure how I feel about them pushing the horror vibe more.
I think the idea behind a fixed first name, is so that others can call the protagonist by that name. In Mass Effect, there's times it feels artificial to call the protagonist "Shepard" where the natural thing to do would be to use the first name.
@@greggmacdonald9644 There are better ways around that. Referring to the Character as Traveler or the Rogue Trader approach where if memory serves, and I'm tired enough I might be remembering incorrectly, the name you input shows up in the conversation text but is never actually spoken vocally. They aren't perfect but it makes the character that little bit more the player's. And a person who is supposed to be in hiding using their real first name is bad enough. Using their actual full name is just stupid. In low tech slow communication settings it wouldn't be so bad but in a setting with even current communications and computer network tech much less any advancements in those areas Exodus has doing so is madness.
@@greggmacdonald9644 True but I think the option they chose was a bad one. They could have even went both ways. Jun being the character's real name while the name we choose is an alias they use while in hiding. The companions could refer to the character as Jun when in private and refer to them as Traveler or some other title Jun has in public. Maybe even tie that into a questline. A companion refers to Jun as Jun when they think only people who know the secret are around but someone else overhears leading to an investigation into who Jun really is being launched.

You mentioned a female protagonist but what about a male protagonist? I only play as male protagonist in RPGs. Will exodus have this? If so are they customizable? Can I make them look like me?
One small thing - your pronunciation of "Elohim" is a bit off. It should be closer to "eh-low-heem" to go along with the hebrew language reference for something like gods or deities.
It's more likely EA scraps BioWare after stripping the studio of its root identity and ruining it. Never again will we see the likes of Baldur's Gate 1-2, Jade Empire, KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age: Origins, or Mass Effect. The writing talent and passion just aren't there anymore.
No they aren’t. BioWare don’t care about making good games, they care about pushing agendas. Why would they be worried about another game doing something they aren’t interested in doing?
The art direction seems mediocre to me. It lacks anything to set it apart from generic scifi. Mass effect is immediately recognizable from a simple screenshot, as is Star Wars and halo. This looks like it could be Destiny, Anthem or Prometheus.

To some people “customizable” means not male-centric. 😂
So, if the book takes place after the game, does it have spoilers for the game?
It takes place 40 000 years before the game
@Captainmubz no the book takes place 150 years after the game
@@kalaelizabeth ok. Don't know why it says 40 000 years before the Exodus game on the website then
@Captainmubz yeah I'm not sure why it says that. Peter f Hamilton has spoken twice already about it being after the game
@@kalaelizabeth my bad then
One small thing - your pronunciation of "Elohim" is a bit off. It should be closer to "eh-low-heem" to go along with the hebrew language reference for something like gods or deities.
I am excited about this game.
So super excited for this game, I hope it's great, it definitely looks great so far.
How can it look great? We’ve literally seen nothing of the game so far, just a cg trailer.

I think, Exodus will be a succesful game, then, they sell this IP to EA and they will destroy it ...
EA is demonic.
Bioware shaking in their boots right now.
They’re not that pathetic.
@HakuYuki001 Beg to differ
No they aren’t. BioWare don’t care about making good games, they care about pushing agendas. Why would they be worried about another game doing something they aren’t interested in doing?
Careful Kala will cry and get you banned
@@stevenbishop1782 what is this clownery you speak of?
After whatever the hell the last Dragon Age was (played about six hours and just couldn't stand it), I really need Exodus to be good.
The art direction seems mediocre to me. It lacks anything to set it apart from generic scifi. Mass effect is immediately recognizable from a simple screenshot, as is Star Wars and halo. This looks like it could be Destiny, Anthem or Prometheus.
