Hi. I did not know that you are subscried to The Verge. You make gorgeous videos by the way
2:42 when you mentioned that touch less controls are useless if you have a password enabled on your moto x. That's only true if you don't enable Motorola skip. In fact you can use NFC tags to automatically log you on to your phone. I have one on my belt, and on my desk. That way I never have to type in my password.
Nice review. Finally I get a feeling for the phone. Yet it doesn't change anything on my buying decision, thought. Nice greetings from Germany.

The wallpaper of the phone on the first part is nice. Where can I get it?
Great rundown of the features. Although on gaming you comment that it works really well for midrange but don't expect to be blown away. The gpu on this phone is not midrange its high end and beats every other phone on benchmarks.
I love that around 5:30 it sounds like you're falling for the phone after being underwhelmed to start with. Too bad you can't customise it in Australia.
Is the back side of the phone swappable, or are you stuck with the choice you make?

I was really liking how they were going with its not all about the specs and stuff but what happens when the later android softwares come out and it can't handle them because its too slow. I think that's a big reason why they aren't just numbers.
There is another way to make the active notifications work on phones with LCD screens in a energy efficient way, using data from accelerometer, find out when the user is picking up the phone and turn on the screen to show notifications...

I have not seen a bad review for this phone yet, I have been tuggging back and forth between this and the HTC One ( they were both 129.99) on my Carrier, after watching multiple reviews and a price drop to 79.99, im sold.
I wouldn't call "slide to unlock" to be considered unlocking your phone. You can't slide your notification down if you have any security measures set up (PIN, pattern unlock, etc..)
Maybe it is time for a long term review now?

Moto X brings "Innovation" Touchless Controls, Active Notifications, & Flick to Open Camera and yet your iPhone 5S review seems more enthusiastic about the same 4 inch less than HD Display & Colorful Grid of Icons.

You have to press the power or home button, it skips that with the pulsing sreen.

In heavy use, my two year old SGS2 now gets about two and a half hours -_- I now have three batteries and a remote charger.

15 hours is decent? What phones do you have that's getting more than that with probably 3.5-4 hours screen time? I know I get 10-12 hours on the same screen time
Another review I see. Anyway good job. Lets see if the Note 3gets as much hype.
This is the kind of phone that other manufacturers should model after. They don't focus on numbers but the overall user experience instead. No matter how high your specs may be, software optimization is key in the speed of a device.
Why no mention of the none ARM based moto cores?

That would make their comments worse. If you experienced something negative like lag...etc you should mention it. I dont' think the verge is bad enough to leave that out. I think they were just basing it on what they heard about moto x. This could be partially motorola's fault, They didn't seem to give reviewers the device that far ahead of the embargo date. Which gives them time to use it a lot. Instead of all racing to have a review out first.
Oh my gosh you're right! that's hilarious. The guy he was supposedly talking to said "can't talk right now" and then he responded "your a real jerk" I hope that that was just for demonstration purposes.
And its not like I'm completely sold on this device. Everything I've read or seen thru reviews are good enough to make me want to get, buy bc of price, I've decided to wait to see what Google has in store w/ next Nexus.

The gpu is actually very high end spec, Beats all phones in 3d benchmakrs. The 2gb memory is high spec. Being by far the smallest phone with a large 4.7" display is a nice feature.
Yeah, it has the same GPU, but on a 720p display, it doesn't have as many pixels to push at any given time. Thanks for understanding what I was saying. Oh and the GPU in the iPad 4 is more powerful than the Adreno 320, and the GPU has nothing to do with the CPU. The SoC encompasses more than just the CPU, but this guy specifically said the processor.
Now every manufacturer has become keen on making colorful phones first windows phone now android and there are rumors that Apple will also launch colorful iPhones called iPhone 5C.
It hopes to get updates quicker? When you guys were live you said it would be just a slow because it still needs to go through the carriers? and no talk about the price? a good enough phone compared to the high-end phones of today and the price isn't a factor?

you may be able to if you look hard enough, but there really isn't a reason to use such a high caliber screen resolution when all it basically is doing is using up more battery

Then perhaps he experienced something in his research that would lead him to say something like that? Maybe it's the combination of the low-ish PPI display and the occasional stutter that would lead him to say that. While I believe he should have mentioned why it's not a great gaming device, I've used more than enough Android devices to know that specs don't equal performance. You also don't know if the GPU is down-clocked. That also could be it.

I don't get the battery life comment.... 14 hours??? Wtf! I get 4 hours and I'm blown away (heavy use). I'm pretty sure it beats the HTC one and s4 in heavy use... With a smaller battery. And its on 24/7 listening. I would say battery life is one of the more impressive features.
Yea it was a typo when i said cpu. The gpu is the same as the galaxy s4 , its not a mid range gpu. But when he is playing a game in the video he pushes hte fact that its midrange and good enough for everyday gaming but not great.

I HIGHLY approve of the 720p screen on this size device. This phone is pretty bad ass. Too bad my GS3 is good enough for the forseeable future.

That is the point, the higher the PPI the clearer the text and items on screen. It is not all about PPI though so ddon't let that fool you.
720p is good enough for this screen size. Unless you hold your phone right in front of your face. I have a HTC One and I do indeed love the screen, but before I upgraded to the One I had a Nexus 4, and honestly, if you showed me the Nexus 4 I would've thought the screens on the One and the Nexus 4 are the same.
Good battery life? I'm Sold. Now only if i had the color customize options with the Droid Maxx =(

Yeah my nexus 4 has all that plus 4.3 and the next and next and next version early, no blotware and a solid camera all around , funny that he didn't say that last year when the nexus 4 had top specs, now a phone with the same specs he gives a lot of praise..

nexus 4 sells for t-mobile this will be on all the carriers which is why I think it will compete
