For the people who do not know about us 4c hair ppl.. when our hair gets wet the curls appear a little looser but once it is drying it shrinks like crazy !! just to let y’all know 😊
Austin Peewwaarss her and I have the same curl pattern:4a with a little 4b. My nieces curls are a tighter coil (4c) and my sisters curls are a little looser than our nieces but tighter than mine(4b/4c). That being said, 4c is the tightest curl pattern and she does not have it. people who actually know how the hair typing chart knows that it explains the difference in curl patterns from the loser to the tightest. And those gorgeous curls, are not the tightest

Most black women have combination hair, meaning that certain parts of their hair behave differently and may even transcend hair typing barriers. to this day i dont know what the difference between 4c and 4b is... like my hair has multiple textures(4a-c) but at the end of the day i still search up 4c hair because i feel like it represents it best. great video btw
Kimberly Ify Her hair is more 4a/4b. Its just slight more definition. Example her hair dry you see crotchet needle size curls (4a) and z-kinks/coils (4b) clearly . On wet you can see waves the same size as dry 3c, typically seen on 4a wet hair. On 4c it tends to be a mixture of z and s kinks/coils, size of a regular needle size to weave needle OR very little kinks/coils present. Either way she's type 4 so useful.

The reason why people make a "big deal" about hair type is because we all want to see someone who clearly has hair like us, showing us what to do with the hair that we find so hard to manage (especially the 4C people). 4c is the texture that is the hardest to deal with, and people even say that 4c people can't pull of certain styles. 4c is at the end of the spectrum so when someone who is 4a, for example, says they are 4c then true 4c people will ask themselves if they're an alien. So yes your hair is beautiful ( like all textures) but people are simply commenting so next time you upload people with your hair type will come to watch. 4c people want to get advice from people who go through exactly what they go through with their hair. Kufre Akpan she doesn't have 4c hair. 4c hair isn't just about being undefined and dry which is what most people don't get. Just cuz ur hair is undefined doesn't mean it's 4c. 4c hair grows upwards and has extreme shrinkage. Especially at her legnth. If she had 4c hair then when she washed it her coils would be way tighter not hanging down and way smaller and not really present. Then it would shrink all the way to her scalp. Some REAL 4c hair is "what lies beneath the weave" and "nappqueen" that's what 4c hair look like. 4c hair is usually very coarse too. Put ur hair in a neat slick back ponytail and if it forms waves at the front it's not 4c. Her texture is way finer than 4c. You can't have 4a/4b/4c. Maybe 4b/4c but if u had 4a and 4c together then she would have a shrunken patch of coarse hair in the middle of her head and the rest of her hair would be hanging down.

Knarlei it looks like my hair and I class it as 4c. Plus your hair doesn't look fully shrunk. My hair is like that. It looks more curly because it's fine but it's actually 4c. Tightest, smallest curls.

Use a texturizer, it loosens up your curls...personally I have 4c hair and i love it, although it tends to be harder to maintain than other hair types..but to each his own i guess...its the hair that grows out of your scalp to do what you want with it if it doesnt make you happy
most of the people that commented on her hair was educated through a google hair chart and not science research. her hair falls into the 4c category because of the porosity level and not just solely based on curl pattern. that's one of the reasons why girls get excites when they do the maximum hydration routine. the porosity levels of their hair shift and all the sudden they theorized their curl pattern has changed when really the curl pattern was enhanced through the shift of porosity level. ALL of that to say let's love and learn more about our hair community.... great video hun!

But the original hair charts that named 4c and so on didn't use hair porosity, it used how the hair looked both wet and dry and on different people. If you take into considerable other hair factors it would be a different chart altogether like LOIS (if that's the letters) . Also that thing based on porosity means your hair could be improved. So having hair that lacks moisture or low or high porosity hair that looks like 4c doesn't mean you're necessarily 4c since those are things that can be altered with a different routine . It means you need to work on hair health
Jayare porosity and hair density can be shifted by health but will over be the same. the research of hair genetics needs to be explored. It's highly complex and beautiful

Word. I literally just chopped all of my hair off a week ago, because I was in a rush and lost the patience to do it during a detangling session. Oof that was the longest my hair ever was, too. 😆 I suppose it'll grow out healthier now. Back to learning how to appreciate and care for our curls. 🙏
I wish people would come to the video, for the actual *content* of the video. This beautiful person gave an incredible walk through of how to properly care for hair via detangling and all the comment section cares about is whether or not she's 4c. REGARDLESS, people *do* know that this tutorial can work for people with type 3 hair and type 4 hair across the board, right? And I'd think the person in the video would know their own hair. To me, her hair looks like healthy, stretched 4c hair. Many natural black women possess combination hair anyways, where hair behaves differently in various sections. Some sections may even be a different texture altogether. Stop bickering and segregating yourselves...enjoy the awesome tutorial. Her hair is gorgeous.
I have never related to a video so hard rn. Most of the curly hair videos that I watch have looser curls but none of the things they talk about apply to me. Your the first video that actually described the type of knots I get and I was so happy seeing how to work it out

Secondly omg this was a great video seriously...I never really cared and didn't even try to fig7re out my "hair type" I just went with it's curly kinky and more curly and it's a lot of it, but seeing your hair as I literally sand in front f the bathroom mirror like a lightbulb went on and I went "holy buckets her hair looks so much like identical to mine when it's time to detangle and moisturize...well I guess I have 4c-ish hair". A lot of people are getting mad at people telling her she doesn't have 4c hair. It's similar to when they have plus sized models being size (12-14) when women with curves don't always look like that it's misrepresentation. I'm actually her hair twin and I have 4b hair too our curls our loose S but, it's hard being in the middle so of course she's going to lean toward the 4c side.
Hair that likes to hug each other, PERFECT analogy for my hair wish I would've seen this video before I ripped all my hair out. Patience really is key when detangling but too late I've cried, yanked, pulled, ripped, and cut my knots out because I felt helpless and was ready to go to bed. Better luck next time. 😫
my texture is similar to yours. and it's definitely 4c. all the hair types have curl definition. people just don't moisturize their hair well enough to see their curl pattern. there are other reasons why I think people are saying your hair isn't 4c but, I don't like giving those topics life so I'll leave that alone. great tutorial! loved it!
Ok -- so this is definitely one of the best detangling videos I've seen. For the simple fact that u are showing -- actually showing the knots...showing the shed hair etc. there is so many you tubers with "perfect hair" that it's hard to relate. I almost feel like we have the same texture. I have the same knots..my hair loves to hug... THANK YOU!! 🤗
I never realized how high maintenance my hair was until I started watching these videos on how to take care of it. It looks worth it though, guess I'll give it a shot.
The reason why people are getting upset over her hair type is because they came looking for hair like theirs (4c) . When they see someone who they think obviously doesn't have what they claim then of course they're going to complain😐 There was once this white girl trying to tell me she had 4a hair when she actually had 3c, of course it's their hair but it doesn't mean they can't make any mistakes with it.
I'm about to get irritated if I see one more comment saying these people dont have 4c hair because their hair ain't all nappy. Just because your hair isn't all clumped up and nappy doesn't mean you aren't 4c. You guys need to focus more on moisturizing your hair and not letting it be that brittle. I have 4c hair and I know for a fact that with proper products your hair can be soft and curly.
My kindergarten aged daughter is living with me for a bit, and her hair is our biggest issue right now. Her mom sent me this vid and while I did do a number of these things when I washed her hair, you had a number of other great suggestions, and your video production was great with your voice over and footage concisely going together and including a lot of info and demos. Thanks a lot. These suggestions will surely help make her hair care process more comfortable for her and daddy.

Why do you think a lot of our straight haired counterparts constantly brush their hair? Especially growing up in school, i would constantly see those with straight hair brushing it in class, in the bathrooms, etc. If anyone is spending countless hours trying to care for their 4c hair, they are doing something wrong. My 4c hair took 2 hours to do, if that, and that's only because i would over do my time on letting the deep conditioner sit.

Kisha Hamilton The 4c curl pattern is the tightest curl pattern. It has tiny ringlets that can be as small as 1mm in diameter. Some may even describe 4c hair with having a “z” form pattern but this is inaccurate. There is a curl it is just hard to see. 4c hair has a fluffy cotton look when in its natural state due the the hair coiling up on itself. 4b hair is a medium between 4a and 4c. It is looser than the 4c hair texture. meaning the diameter of the curl is wider than that of 4c but not as loose as 4a.

Kimberly Ify Her hair is more 4a/4b. Its just slight more definition. Example her hair dry you see crotchet needle size curls (4a) and z-kinks/coils (4b) clearly . On wet you can see waves the same size as dry 3c, typically seen on 4a wet hair. On 4c it tends to be a mixture of z and s kinks/coils, size of a regular needle size to weave needle OR very little kinks/coils present. Either way she's type 4 so useful.

Where did you hear that from? 4c hair has "no definite curl pattern". 4b hair is zigzag pattern and it's not three times the circumference of a coffee stirrer. This is where the hair typing chart becomes askew. Three times the circumference of a coffee stirrer would mean 4b curls are the size of 3c hair. No. I have 3c, 4a, 4b hair and I've applied(actually put coffee stirrers, pencils, and straws up to my curls) the hair typing charts and hair typing characteristics presented on websites like Curlynikki.com, curlcentric.com, naturally curly.com, etc. PLEASE, everyone. The reason why people make a "big deal" about hair type is because we all want to see someone who clearly has hair like us, showing us what to do with the hair that we find so hard to manage (especially the 4C people). 4c is the texture that is the hardest to deal with, and people even say that 4c people can't pull of certain styles. 4c is at the end of the spectrum so when someone who is 4a, for example, says they are 4c then true 4c people will ask themselves if they're an alien. So yes your hair is beautiful ( like all textures) but people are simply commenting so next time you upload people with your hair type will come to watch. 4c people want to get advice from people who go through exactly what they go through with their hair.

Kufre Akpan she doesn't have 4c hair. 4c hair isn't just about being undefined and dry which is what most people don't get. Just cuz ur hair is undefined doesn't mean it's 4c. 4c hair grows upwards and has extreme shrinkage. Especially at her legnth. If she had 4c hair then when she washed it her coils would be way tighter not hanging down and way smaller and not really present. Then it would shrink all the way to her scalp. Some REAL 4c hair is "what lies beneath the weave" and "nappqueen" that's what 4c hair look like. 4c hair is usually very coarse too. Put ur hair in a neat slick back ponytail and if it forms waves at the front it's not 4c. Her texture is way finer than 4c. You can't have 4a/4b/4c. Maybe 4b/4c but if u had 4a and 4c together then she would have a shrunken patch of coarse hair in the middle of her head and the rest of her hair would be hanging down.

Knarlei it looks like my hair and I class it as 4c. Plus your hair doesn't look fully shrunk. My hair is like that. It looks more curly because it's fine but it's actually 4c. Tightest, smallest curls.

Use a texturizer, it loosens up your curls...personally I have 4c hair and i love it, although it tends to be harder to maintain than other hair types..but to each his own i guess...its the hair that grows out of your scalp to do what you want with it if it doesnt make you happy
most of the people that commented on her hair was educated through a google hair chart and not science research. her hair falls into the 4c category because of the porosity level and not just solely based on curl pattern. that's one of the reasons why girls get excites when they do the maximum hydration routine. the porosity levels of their hair shift and all the sudden they theorized their curl pattern has changed when really the curl pattern was enhanced through the shift of porosity level. ALL of that to say let's love and learn more about our hair community.... great video hun!

But the original hair charts that named 4c and so on didn't use hair porosity, it used how the hair looked both wet and dry and on different people. If you take into considerable other hair factors it would be a different chart altogether like LOIS (if that's the letters) . Also that thing based on porosity means your hair could be improved. So having hair that lacks moisture or low or high porosity hair that looks like 4c doesn't mean you're necessarily 4c since those are things that can be altered with a different routine . It means you need to work on hair health
Jayare porosity and hair density can be shifted by health but will over be the same. the research of hair genetics needs to be explored. It's highly complex and beautiful

To me, her hair looks like healthy, stretched 4c hair. Many natural black women possess combination hair anyways, where hair behaves differently in various sections. A lot of people are getting mad at people telling her she doesn't have 4c hair. It's similar to when they have plus sized models being size (12-14) when women with curves don't always look like that it's misrepresentation. I'm actually her hair twin and I have 4b hair too our curls our loose S but, it's hard being in the middle so of course she's going to lean toward the 4c side.
Hair that likes to hug each other, PERFECT analogy for my hair wish I would've seen this video before I ripped all my hair out. Patience really is key when detangling but too late I've cried, yanked, pulled, ripped, and cut my knots out because I felt helpless and was ready to go to bed. Better luck next time. 😫

my texture is similar to yours. and it's definitely 4c. all the hair types have curl definition. people just don't moisturize their hair well enough to see their curl pattern. there are other reasons why I think people are saying your hair isn't 4c but, I don't like giving those topics life so I'll leave that alone. great tutorial! loved it!
Ok -- so this is definitely one of the best detangling videos I've seen. For the simple fact that u are showing -- actually showing the knots...showing the shed hair etc. there is so many you tubers with "perfect hair" that it's hard to relate. The reason why people are getting upset over her hair type is because they came looking for hair like theirs (4c) . When they see someone who they think obviously doesn't have what they claim then of course they're going to complain😐 There was once this white girl trying to tell me she had 4a hair when she actually had 3c, of course it's their hair but it doesn't mean they can't make any mistakes with it.
I'm about to get irritated if I see one more comment saying these people dont have 4c hair because their hair ain't all nappy. Just because your hair isn't all clumped up and nappy doesn't mean you aren't 4c. You guys need to focus more on moisturizing your hair and not letting it be that brittle. I have 4c hair and I know for a fact that with proper products your hair can be soft and curly.

Her mom sent me this vid and while I did do a number of these things when I washed her hair, you had a number of other great suggestions, and your video production was great with your voice over and footage concisely going together and including a lot of info and demos. +Fatima Soro Every type of hair has it's up and downs, but i would say 4c is not the most difficult. Looser textures are actually the most difficult, because they tangle a lot faster. Why do you think a lot of our straight haired counterparts constantly brush their hair? Especially growing up in school, i would constantly see those with straight hair brushing it in class, in the bathrooms, etc. If anyone is spending countless hours trying to care for their 4c hair, they are doing something wrong. My 4c hair took 2 hours to do, if that, and that's only because i would over do my time on letting the deep conditioner sit.

That's like saying if someone say "I have purple eyes" and someone else looks at them and says "Uhm you have blue eyes not purple" and then saying they second person is wrong because only the person who has the eyes know their eye color. Kisha Hamilton The 4c curl pattern is the tightest curl pattern. It has tiny ringlets that can be as small as 1mm in diameter. Some may even describe 4c hair with having a “z” form pattern but this is inaccurate. There is a curl it is just hard to see. 4c hair has a fluffy cotton look when in its natural state due the the hair coiling up on itself.
4b hair is a medium between 4a and 4c. It is looser than the 4c hair texture. meaning the diameter of the curl is wider than that of 4c but not as loose as 4a.
