The guy standing on the mine will be the only one at risk. When he removes his foot, everyone else will be behind a barrier. Yeah. It could take 12 hours. But it's worth it. Better than just letting dude die.
This scene makes no sense: 1st of all, anti-tank mines (as they claim in the movie) don't detonate with just the weight of a human. 2nd problem, the guy who stepped on the landmine seemed actually eager to die, in reality there are known cases of humans clinging to life in dire circumstances for tens of hours or even days, don't tell me he couldn't wait longer for his team mates to find a solution (plus he was a trained SWAT member so presumably he was in good physical condition) and thirdly, i'm sure there were ways of defusing the mine and even if there weren't, they could have tried cladding him in bulletproof vests (they had those since, you know... they were a SWAT team), attaching a rope on him and pulling him fast with a vehicle, for example (and even if they did not have ropes, which I doubt, they could have cobbled a makeshift rope from automotive safety belts tied together). Literally everything they needed to save him (or try doing so with real chances of success was present in that scene).
Well there was a way, the way bounding mines work once triggered it propels itself into the air, then explodes, spraying shrapnel over a large area. This means that, in general, the best way to survive a bounding mine is to throw yourself flat on the ground, face down. If you're close enough, most of the shrapnel will pass over you. The best-known bounding mines is the German S-Mine class, had a four-second time delay on the fuse. This gave a person or vehicle triggering the mine time to move away so they wouldn't prevent the mine from rising into the air, but it also gave them time to take evasive action if they realized they'd triggered it.
There isn't a time period after stepping on a mine before it goes off. It's just boom. It's for theatrical value to show that when one steps off the mine goes off.
Not in this case. A bounding mine takes about 3-4 seconds to detonate after the weight that triggered it is lifted. This is because they have to basically propel themselves up in the air before they explode to spread shrapnel over a wide area. This wouldn't work with an immediate detonation because everything that could block the mine from flying upwards could also make the shrapnel useless.
This is why I’d rather be a villain than a hero. I would’ve ended the world for my guy where they as heroes watched their own brother die and didn’t even try to do anything. Man this hit.
@@leebweeb6008I mean if this was real life, an anti-tank mine would never trigger from his body weight. He would have to weigh a few tons for it to trigger
An anti-tank bounding mine... that's an oxymoron. Either it's anti-tank and he can't trigger it, or it's a bounding mine so he should trigger it and then get to the ground to be below the shrapnel.
Yup. Also, only the German-S mine had a delay. Most mines detonate when stepped ON, not off... As they are meant to kill, not "make stand still for a long time".
Weight transfer sounded like a good idea it was worth the shot even if he still died in the end he could of done the weight transfer himself but he decided not too
Now I've never been in the military nor do I play call of duty but I'm pretty sure that landmines don't work that way in fact I think they work as in once you step on them you're already dead it's never a situation where you step on one and then it blows up when you step off there's like maybe two landmines that do that most of the rest of them just blow up on impact
Just cause you were a marine does not mean you know how it works. The mine in pressure actuated meaning once you put pressure on the mine it initiates the firing train. If it goes off by pressure release it would have to have pressure already on it.
He has steel toed boots. Untie his boot to where he can slip his foot out easily while the other man puts weight on it. Other man puts pressure on the boot while they find something else to weigh it down.
