  • In this video I show how to remove the timing belt on a 2000 Nissan Frontier with the 3.3L V6 engine. I show how to remove front end components necessary to access the belt covers and then briefly explain the replacement of the belt. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for the video! I got the factory timing belt kit from Nissan and it included the belt, the tensioner, the water pump and gasket, and new cam and crank seals. They recommend it all be done as a kit and I'll also replace the hoses under the intake as you said below when I do the knock sensor next week. I appreciate the breakdown of the teardown for this job!

a trick: you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.

Just changed the timing belt, water pump, and thermostat on my '02 frontier (easiest to just do all of them at the same time). Thanks for putting this up!

Glad to help. The 3.3L is a good engine. It should last you a long time with the front end rebuilt. Make sure to replace all the cooling hoses also if you haven't already. There are some small ones under the upper intake too.

i replaced water pump and thermostat a few years ago but the belt had been recently replaced so i left it be.
looking back i wish i had replaced the front crankshaft seal and camshaft seals as well as the thermostat bypass hose. now i have a major oil leak from the area and i will have to go back in there and do those things. i don't know why i did not do the crankshaft seal at the time as it was leaking a bit even then. i think my biggest leak is coming from the cam seals but will not know until i get back in there.
my '99 pathfinder has 330,000 miles on it and i have done quite a bit of replacing parts over time but the drive train still works well so i will just fix what needs it and drive it till whenever.

Very good except for the fact that this is a bitch of a job not to mention all the parts you have to remove and then replace. If you are a novice mechanic you'd be wise in videoing this project as you go or taking pictures so you wont be screwing up...good luck boys..

I'm working in a Nissan frontier same year, and when I tried to remove the flywheel nut there's not enough room to use the impact tool . In this video it looks there's plenty of room.
