Her face when Izzy was parallel parking... priceless. Also, for anyone wondering: if you don't activate the ABS, you're not pressing the pedal hard enough for an emergency stop.
That seems counterintuitive. ABS activation means you're over-braking and the car is having to limit your braking to ensure you don't spin out. If you did that same thing in a car without ABS then you'd likely end up losing control of the car.
@@TheMightyHams It's true because ABS is able to stop the car dead quicker than a professional racing driver who doesn't have ABS and it is able to do it every single time without fail, even in an ideal scenario where you're ready for the stop, know how much grip you have, how bumpy the road is, exactly how the car is going to react under those specific condtions etc... But Imagine a real emergency where you've spotted a hazard and have to react NOW, if you try to adjust for the road conditions yourself you will stop probably tens of meters later just because of the thinking time to process the road conditions, let alone manually finding the braking threshold which is going to be different depending on conditions and maintain a consistent pressure just below the threshold but with ABS you just mash the pedal and the computer finds the threshold and adjusts brake pressure not only to find the threshold in a matter or miliseconds but also to modulate each wheel separately so all four are riding the threshold giving you even more braking effect.
I do not understand how anyone can fail the "emergency stop" when cars are all ABS. Just floor the brake pedal. In my day ABS was rare and we had to pump the brakes so as not to cause a lock up. I have to admit this was not necessary on a driving exam. Indeed just emergency braking and stalling was fine as long as it was quick.
Sorry had to read that a few times as it doesn't make sense. You can push as hard as you like , the and will kick in if it senses the wheels beginning to lock. In the weather they are in a metal drain could activate abs on normal braking. You don't need to use it on your test. Intact you should try not to as relying on a system to save you is not great.

As an American the idea of failing a driving test because of parallel parking is baffling to me, until I think about how narrow and cramped the roads and cities are from the time I visited the UK and realized it is a significantly more important skill. Although how she got two wheels up on the curb baffles me.
Its the assessment that has her not performing how she normally would. Essentially trying to perform better than she normally would. But she normally does it fine and is now doing it differently. The road is also narrow and being slightly further away from the road would be okay in america but here it’s going to get your side mirror knocked off.
Really? I live in an incredibly rural area in northeast Pennsylvania and the very first part of my driving test (22 years ago) was parallel parking. Hit the cones, fail, too far from the curb, fail, reversing too many times, fail. After you did that they took you out in traffic, if you failed parallel parking they wouldn't even ride with you on the road.
@leifgunnartoth8070 that is an unnecessarily absurd analogy. Yes its not necessary for it to be a manual, but yes an older car that helps the driver less is definitely better for practice or test.
