Ampero II has amazing, unbeatable stereo capabilities that other stomps within this price range do not have. Two completely different effect chains on two amps!
I have the Hotone Ampero2 as a backup rig on the road. I only need 5 basic tones and found it easy to dial them in. It is PERFECT for throw n go shows where there's 15 minutes between bands and you don't have time to spend messing with the pedals on the main board. Honestly, this could be my main rig. Fits nicely in my cable road case.
I went for the Ampero II for the dual amp capabilities, and something like 18 months later still haven't used it as the sounds I get from single amps really impress me. It's a great unit, the touch screen is fantastic, the amps, cabs and effects all sound first class and the output options are great, but as JNC points out, for gigging you need to put in a bit more work to set everything up.
I have the Ampero 2. I really enjoy it but I wanted to focus on the cons. Updates: In 12 months no additional effects or amps etc have been added. I think Headrush comes out with new effects etc and im not sure about other units. The community. John is the only decent patch maker for this decent (happy to be proven wrong here). It’s so easy to find a TH-cam tutorial etc on dialling a particular sound with Line 6 equipment. The community for the Line 6 stuff is much stronger Other than that, the unit is solid for a bedroom rocker. I haven’t touched my Katana or tube amp a friend lent me since I got it.
I got a Mooer ge200 when they came out and it's my go to for quick and easy tones. The Twin Reverb has no right sounding as good as it does. The version 2 update gave some nice QOL imporvements, notably being able to have trails on your effects when you turn them off or change to a different preset.
Pod go user here and for me the dual amp thing has not been a dealbreaker. Would be a nice feature though so interested to see if latest helix update brings that to pod as well. I agree with the out of the box amp tone not being that great but quite quickly I got a feel on how to tweek them better to my ear. Good tip from somewhere was to max out channel volume of the amp! Been happy with my pod and been thinking to get stomp as well as it would fit nicely into my pedalboard and I could copy tones I like on my pod.
Beautiful playing as always John. I’d be delighted if line 6 made an hx stomp in the form factor of the pod go. So easy to gig the pod go, not sure you need all the capability of the stomp but smoosh the two together and that’s a winner i think.
I have the ampero and have a lot of fun with it. Its sounds even better adding my own IRs. I use it mainly for the basic amp tones and those are amazing for my setup.
I also have an Ampero 2 as well as my FM9.. It is a very useful unit . It doesnt need the scenes etc asit can change patches almost instantaneously . The Helix always had a delay so needed them.. Having 3 switches is no difference to the FM3 and I used to gig that with no problems..What makes this unit good is the touch screen , the ease of programming in the edtor and the inclusion of the multitude of Celestion IR's that are included. It is great value and for me a great backup !! PS I use midi with myMorningstar FC6 to get more switches ..
When you say instantly changes patches on Ampero, are you saying it actually has spillover so you really don’t notice the changes, or are all effects actually cut off and reloaded just a bit faster ? BOSS’s stuff is mostly preset spillover. I think some of the reverbs may glitch momentarily but for the vast majority of preset changes the sound is maintained really well, which of course is a fairly amazing way around the whole idea of snapshots
Merry Christmas one and all, So John as another viewer pointed out, the vast majority of the advantages in snapshots is avoiding gaps in the sound whilst making parameter changes to the fairly shorter signal chains. Maybe this would make for another comparison video between say the boss gear, the Ampero, and the line6 stuff ? They each approach the area of gapless switching in completely different ways. A boss GT1 for example is not that dissimilar to the podgo in hardware options, yet it will just about still hang with a dual DSP helix in preset spillover ( vast price differences between em ). How do the modellers in this region actually pair up for doing snapshots or scenes?
Yeah, he does communicate with the Hotone team directly. Even he was told that The Ampero Stomp would get similar function as line6 snapshots, but no idea when it will be out.
I got an Ampero II recently, i'd say it's possible to gig with it with an expression pedal and some drives( or comp and pitch). In my case, i'm using one overdrive, a booster and a MXR poly blue octave, so i assigned my delay and reverb mix to my exp pedal, and a on/of switch for them in an external switch. In the ampero switches i'm using a tap tempo, another drive on/off, and second delay on/off. I gess when it gets another update, it'll get some bug fixes and a snapshot function (hopefully)
The "deal breaker" is that it cant do more than one amp in a preset. Does anyone remember when carting a 70lb head and 120lb cab up a flight of stairs was a "deal breaker"? Have these people not gigged before? One amp in a preset in a device that I cant toss in a back pack and head up the stairs... I've never used dual tube amps before, I've never even owned 2 tube amps at once lol.
Yeah I don't really need 2 amps at the same time.... the Ampero is great for me because I mainly just want more tones to record and jam at home with or practice with people which is the point of it.
I bought Pod GO before but it has an impedance problem...Always feels like youre playing underpowered...Might not be apparent in tone but on the hand, it is extremely disturbing...You need to put a pedal in front of it to overcome that circuit and open up full power...Look it up, its real...Just by itself, Pod GO is a problematic unit...Dont know if they fixed in newer batches but it was real for me a few months ago...
🤔 I’m a at home guitarist, I have a original POD and at the moment I am looking for a guitar that speaks to me most. I’m very interested in the PRS SE line as it is a price factor for me in my stage of life. I hope you can get a PRS SE DGT that will be coming out soon. I think with my MAC and Scuffham S-Gear I have the sounds I really need. Great as usual John. Thank you.
Really happy with my SE Custom 24-08 in Eriza Verde. Don't think you can go wrong with these. My brother has an SE Custom 24 Standard and it's also a great guitar.
@@ojoaoflores I actually love the green color, really pops. I get frustrated with local guitar stores, they never have any guitars for trying. It seems like mail order is the only way to go.
Nice opening jam. Both these units go for about $500 in the US. The Nu-X MG-30 is about $300. Other than build quality, do the Ampero and Pod Go offer that much more in terms of features and sound quality? Anyone gigging with the Nu-X?
Don’t go down. Ampero has the best recording capabilities, offering 8 virtual output channels via USB-C. I use audio interface with two input for my pedalboard, two outs of Ampero for stereo guitars with different FX and EQ, and I have virtual fifth channel as DI from Ampero
How is it actually pronounced? I always thought they were going for hot tone and just slammed it together and removed a t but, now that you mention it have no real idea how to pronounce it 😂
In English, this is a two syllable word with the break falling between the o and the t. When the o appears at the end of the syllable and the word ends with an e, it will have the long O sound and the e at the end will be silent. The following vowels in the word will have their short phonetic pronunciation. Common similar examples. Notice and Motive.

I love it so far it was so easy to use and good tones right after pluging my guitar in. Very good gain tones.

I think the TH-camr of the Leo Gibson Channel provides feedback directly to some Modeler Companies, but I can't remember if Hotone was one of them.
Yeah, he does communicate with the Hotone team directly. Even he was told that The Ampero Stomp would get similar function as line6 snapshots, but no idea when it will be out.

For Americans, Line 6, because they don't know anything about other brands that aren't American or English, for the whole world, Ampero 2.

shouldn't it compete with the hx stomp instead since it has 3 switch foot

You will not have the dropout with the ampero if you'll open the looper menu with an midi footswitch .
Just use the Ampero with an midi pedal . One more pro to the Ampero is that it sounds great with an acoustic guitar in comparision to the pod go

there is any preset that you can use as auto whah without the pedal on the ampero?

Pronounced Hot Tone, but my favorite pronunciation is with a quick, angry and loud Japanese accent as... "Huh-Tone-Ehh!!!".
