      @Luca Devine if what Jessie is true then I doubt that will make it to the history channel because the history channel actually does there research and disney doesn't and that's why I can't stand watching it in the modern version. I would hate to see toy story and the Incredibles in the modern version.

    The people who wrote the Disney movie Hercules obviously had NO idea of the actual story of Hercules. Hades was supposed to be the most fair minded and least petty of the Olympian gods. It was actually Hera who was tormenting Hercules to punish Zeus for cheating on her with Hercules mum.

      Acutely Hades is way different then hell there is even a place for the exstreamly good people "blessed dead" called Elysium Fields/Plains, then there are levels for how "righteous " you lived your life, all the dead go to hades, then you go through judgement, then you go to the fields of Elysium, Asphodel, or Punishment

      This is a very late reply but Claude did save him. The story of quasimodo was that his parents didn’t want him due to being deformed so they left him in a box in town square which is somewhat of a way of adoption back in the day. Frollo found him and it reminded him of his little brother. So he took him in and raised him as his own son.

    I dunno if this was from somewhere but my literature teacher told us about Cinderella's stepmother's story too.
    She said her name was Freesia and she was not so pretty, but she was kind and helpful. She met Cinderella's father and they both fell in love with each other. They were about to get married when Cinderella's father met Freesia's cousin, who was beautiful, and he left Freesia for her. Freesia's cousin and Cinderella's father got married and had a child, who's our girl Cinderella. On the contrary, Freesia got forcefully married with a guy who she didn't love and had two girls. Freesia's husband died after some years and she was all alone with the two girls. Cinderella's mother had died too. Freesia then met /him/ after some years and they fell in love again, so they got married. Freesia didn't like Cinderella cuz it reminded her of her sadness and suffering. When he died, Freesia was completely devastated. She thought her life was just going worse and worse. She mistreated Cinderella just because she couldn't look at her without thinking of her cousin who betrayed her.

    In all Greek myths, especially the story of Heracles, Hades is shown to be very respectable and willing to return the favor for anyone who respects him. Heracles shows him respect and Hades allows him to take Cerberus with him as long as he doesn't hurt him with a weapon. So obviously he cares about his dog and isn't stubborn and extremely violent and or self absorbed as a lot of the other gods... *cough* ATHENA *cough* .

    For Hercules, actually, Hera is not his mom. Zeus fell in love with a human girl on earth. When her husband was sent off to war, Zeus disguised himself as her husband, went down to earth, and Hercules was born. When her husband came back, she realized her mistake. Zeus went back up to the gods, but Hera was furious. Remember when baby Hercules fought pain and panic when they turned into snakes? Those snakes weren’t sent by hades, they were sent by Hera to kill baby Hercules. When he was sent to earth, he had to complete his 12 challenges in order to join his father on mount Olympus. Crazy, right?

      from what I have read, actually the human women abandoned the baby to die in fear Hera would kill her, feeling that his son deserved better he pleaded with Hera to forgive him and spare the child from the cruel elements and to let him live on mount Olympus. Hera annoyed said fine but he would have to complete 12 tasks before he could so. so he was spared and when he was old enough he would be welcomed into Olympus. Hades had no part in this besides being annoyed that Cerberus was dragged from his job.

    There are so many mistakes in this video, it shows nobody cared to do actual research. Hercules story was not even close to the Disney movie! Once Upon a Time is not the source of Cruella’s story but a non canon story (in the book, Cruella was always an eccentric girl who was so obssessed with spots that she was expelled from school for drinking ink in an attempt to get them). And it is well known now that the writers of The Little Mermaid had planned to make Ursula Triton’s sister who he exiled because of her imperfections (since she was half octopus). Here's my one issue with the Cruella backstory. You claimed she had been born a sociopath, But that's physically impossible. People can be born psychopaths, but sociopathy is developed overtime by abuse and manipulation

    • @sebastianlugo5781
      @sebastianlugo5781 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Actually, that's not true. About 50% of what a sociopath is comes from hereditary things- as in, things they're born with. What's most likely is that she was born a sociopath and, this being a guess, had some amount of small trauma. Her father isn't present, so that could have easily been her first small trigger into beginning manipulating people from a young age and possibly causing harm to other people and animals as a way to deal with her emotions. And as her mother tries again and again to remarry, her lack of empathy makes her see those men as invaders, people who could potentially leave her just like her biological father had, so she kills them. In fact, the vast majority of diagnosed sociopaths DO NOT come from abusive households, and while she was clearly abused, sociopath or not, sociopaths are not born of abuse.

      I think the critique is on the way it is told, that as long as you can live through the abuse, there's a kind fairy godmother to fix everything. There isn't, so if you actually have the choice to stay in or leave an abusive situation, you shouldn't be told to stay cuz it's going to be fine in the end any way.

      Mrs. Elise Patterson, Cinderella pretty much didn’t stand up for herself because, after her father died, she was never taught ways she could. If her father had lived longer, she might have learned ways she could defend herself, but she was instead turned into a maid by her stepmother because she didn’t really care as much for her than she did her own daughters ( she got more care from animals than she did family until she married the prince )

    Ugh, I hate the revisionist idea of Cinderella that people feel the need to bash it. Because it's totally okay to bash someone for "not standing up for themselves" when confronting someone who has abused them since early childhood. When will this trend die? This is not okay. I thought people had caught on that this was no tokay. Cinderella didn't anticipate marrying the prince. She just wanted a break from her long term abuse. And it's NOT okay to say she should have stood up for herself. That's a LOT harder than it sounds for long term abuse victims. Did you ever stop to consider what would have happened to her if she tried to stand up to her stepmother? Honestly wish people would stop treating kindness as a weakness. Try actually watching the film before you tell us women what is empowering or not. It took bravery for that girl to even go to the ball after what they did to her.

    • @bearcubbelladonna
      @bearcubbelladonna 6 ปีที่แล้ว +136

      Yeah, I didn't agree with the take on Cinderella in this. If you were abused by the one person in a position of authority from childhood and made to believe you were worthless, the psychological damage would be almost insurmountable. In fact, Cinderella not going bonkers crazy and becoming a villain herself is a testament to her nature as a caring loving person. Her mannerisms and 'passive' nature as this take on her story put it is entirely the Step Mother's fault. I have little if any sympathy for the step mother--she was second only to Cruella in petty cruelness and her backstory is no excuse to treat a child so badly.

    Really? I don't think Scar could have been banished if he was invited by his brother to celebrate Simba's baptism.
    And I don't think Mufasa would make the trip over to his place (which by lion's standards isn't too shabby) to express his disappointment that he didn't come to the ceremony, meaning he was expecting him to show up.
    And while I can't confirm if it's true or not, I'd read that the father treated and loved both sons equally. Even when Scar couldn't take the throne, he made sure that he still held a position of influence and basically appointed Scar as Mufasa's right-hand man; which I'm guessing did not fly well for him.

However I don't want this to become another Maleficent incident. The villains' characters should not be altered for the sake of making us feel bad about them. As for the cause, there are many and can usually not be pinpointed. There are many genes and chemical hormones that can contribute to such antisocial personality disorders. However experiencing traumatic events tends to act as a catalyst to the two. I Believe her to be a psychopath as she displays most symptoms for sociopathy as well as psychopathy. I can understand there is a why someone would do something bad but that doesn't make it "right". It really annoys me when people don't take responsibility and blame their behavior on their past. You can be more than your past. You can rise above it and still be a "good" person.

    As much as I like the show, OUaT is not canon. For instance. according to the original book "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" Cruella was a schoolmate of Anita's, who was always messed up (Cruella was one expelled for drinking ink). No backstory; just a born messed-up, narcissistic sociopath. (Side note: In the original book, Pongo's missus was simply called Missus; Perdita was a young mother Dalmatian whose puppies were taken from her and Roger found her on the side of the road, noticed that she could be a milknurse to help Missus, and took her in. There were 97 puppies rescued, including Pongo's & MIssus' 13 and Perdita's pups. I know that adds up to 100: the last chapter of the book, titled "The One Hundred and Oneth Dalmatian" explains the last Dalmatian: Perdita's long-lost husband!)

      True, I think there was also a scene at the end of the book after Cruella gets caught she developed Marie Antoinette syndrome ( which causes someone's hair to turn white after a stressful/traumatic event) but since one side of her head was already white that side turned green.

    I just figure Gaston has a case of full-blown narcissistic Personality Disorder. In their heads, they are the most important person in the universe. They draw people in and can be very charismatic. However those who get to know narcissists closely often grow tired of their antics and see past their appealing exterior. I feel as though Gaston went so far simply because Belle definitely hurt his ego and fed his narcissistic brain a fact he can't handle, that not everybody loves him. I have no pity for Gaston. Whether he has NPD or not he's a braying jackass with a nasty cruel streak.

      I think it's because oftentimes the villains have more character development than the protagonist. The good guy is usually young and has little experience with the world, which is where children can relate and like those characters. As we grow older though, and we understand things we used to not, we can begin to see that the world isn't just black and white.

    Maleficent the movie takes a lot of liberties and tries to humanize her when her appeal came from being deliciously evil and loving it. She was essentially royalty and yet she wasn't even invited to a celebration paupers were allowed to come to. Of course milady would be spiteful. They're just lucky she didn't burn the place to the ground as a dragon. Try watching the Nostalgia Critic episode on it.

    Original HCA Little Mermaid, the Sea Witch was NEUTRAL and unrelated to the King of the sea, she was NEVER a villain. She even *warned* the little mermaid the price to pay was HIGH and N O T worth it. But the Little mermaid was headstrong and infatuated by the prince, and begged to be turned human regardless of the pain and sacrifice. The Sea Witch even gave her *a second chance* when the prince chose another woman to marry, and said she should kill the prince, stab him in the heart, and when his blood trickled/dropped onto her feet, and she'd return to being a mermaid. But seeing him sleep peacefully next to his true love (the princess he married over the LM) she couldn't do it and chose to become the seafoam as per the original terms of the spell. But since her act was selfless, she was made the SPIRIT of the sea. >_> the origin story here is so wrong.

Also, Q was raised in and by the priesthood of Notre Dam; Frolo certainly had no involvement in Q becoming the man he did.

    King Steffan. Phillip was the prince. Also in the original stories Melifecent was one of the strongest fairies and tempermental. The king and queen did not invite her due to a lack of plates and thought not having a golden plate for her would offened her.. some how it did not occur to them to just move some one over and invite her anyways. So I do actually think the hated movie gives her a much more indepth reason to be mad.
