- Hey y’all! In todays video I’m showing you a delicious recipe homemade southern caramel frosting! Enjoy ☺️
Ingredients:
2 cups light brown sugar
2 sticks salted butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream

My great aunt was known for her caramel cakes and showed me when I was 16. I could never remember the icing and no one ever made it like her I’ve been searching 10 years for this icing recipe and finally found it! Thank you so much! If anyone hasn’t tried this recipe once you taste it it’s really different and you will never want it the usual way again

YES!!!!! YES!!!!!! This is the one I’ve been searching for decades! I was introduced to the Carmel cake as a little boy in Chicago in the 1960s. Ms. Wiggins who was a friend of my grandmother used to make this as my birthday cake every year. As she got older and her health was failing due to aging, I asked her for her icing recipe. She finally agreed to give it to me but I lost it! I tried to make it several times from memory but it was a disaster so I gave up trying to make it. Now at age 64 Seeing this video brought back so many great teary memories of Ms. Wiggins. She was so sweet and kind. I am going to make this today in her honor! Thank you so much for posting.

Follow up: I made this as promised. It was Amazing! My tastebuds remembered that unique flavor from my childhood in the 1960’s. I literally had tears in my eyes as I remembered Ms. Wiggins who made my cakes. I made mine in a 6x9 pan instead of two round pans. God bless you sis for bringing so much joy to all who come upon your channel. Keep on doing the Lord’s work! 🙏🏾🙌🏾
My Mom used to make this frosting from a recipe given to her by my Dad's Mom. Unfortunately, she copied the recipe incorrectly in her later years and it was incomplete. She is now deceased. I'm having my extended family over for our Christmas celebration tomorrow and am anxious to surprise my siblings with this cake. The frosting turned out delightful! We love it with chocolate cake! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I love all things caramel, and this looks delicious! If you use all undiluted evaporated milk in place of regular milk and cream, the taste will still be great, and it won't be likely to curdle. 😊

My mother recently said that she wished she could have an apple spice cake with caramel frosting like my Granny used to make. This caramel frosting is just like the frosting my Granny made! Caramel cakes remind me of my late grandmother. Everyone in the family couldn't wait for the holidays to come because we knew Grammy was going to make her famous caramel cake. She passed and for years I tried to duplicate her cake your version will enable me to bring my Grammy cake back to our holiday table. Thanks for sharing. Love your channel.

This was so incredibly delicious! 😊 I paired it with my grandmother's (super moist) applesauce sheet cake recipe because we weren't feeling standard buttercream at the moment and the caramel frosting brought it to the next level! Topped it with a light sprinkling of flakey sea salt and called it a Salted Caramel Apple cake. Everybody enjoyed and I'm totally gonna make it again come Autumn 🍏🍎🍂🍃

What a wonderful recipes . I went step by step I had 2 two layers and one pound cake to do .I double your recipe omg I don't have any heavy cream or half and half so I took milk and 2 tbsp of butter it worked out perfectly I used my powder sugar double and it worked omg by the time I got to the last cake my icing harden I placed in the microwave for 10 sec at a time and it soften perfectly thank you so much I'm a new subscriber ..# keep them coming I'm so happy!!!!

@@CookinWTaShondaRenaedo you know if this one Hardens like the old fashioned one. After icing the layers. I normally pour it on. But making the icing is so daunting
It does “set” but doesn’t get really hard.
