Hello from Russia guys, please wear gloves to protect your hands because it is your health. I work as a logging truck driver and I fix my truck by myself most of the time and I assembled a 10 speed gearbox on my own and it took me a lot of time and effort, video tutorials on youtube helped me. Keep making these videos I think there're a lot of people who want to watch it, best wishes.
Hey. I been trying to explain to fellow drivers that the overdrive is in the main box on a 13 spd in high gear and the splitter is direct in high. So 12th gear is actually overdrive and under driving the overdrive to make less overdrive. So it’s still double over but like over and underdrive to make 12th gear…. People are buying really tall geared trucks and trying to run them in 12th gear for fuel mileage. Maybe you could show this in a video. It seems like you could do it pretty easily and it would make a great video with lots of views cause people are gonna want to know this information
That brings back memories from forty years ago. I remember working on a couple of these. I use to call them a puzzle palace. Nice to watch someone who has a lot of experience take one apart like its nothing.👍
New subscriber here, but I give you the utmost Respect for knowing your shit Brother, tearing a tranny Down is 1 thing, but knowing how it goes back together is another and it looks like you got it Down to a science. I just bought a Rebuilt 13 speed eaton fuller transmission and it's garbage I do not like the way it shifts at all, I wish the person that Rebuilt the tranny I bought felt the same way you do about their work like you do and how it shifts gears once your Done with it and it shifts like a Brand new tranny, but I will Definitely keep watching your videos I may just learn something.
I'd assume that these non-synchro manual transmissions will be around forever. I know that more of the next generation drivers are going with automatics, but you'll always have the old school truckers that like to interact with the mechanics of the rig. Thanks for sharing these videos, they're much appreciated! God bless!
This is JJ here, personally I would much rather have a manual transmission in my truck. Yes I’m sure it’s more of a headache in stop and go traffic but there are a lot more people out there that can properly diagnose any issues that may occur with the unit itself.
@@etrtruckcenterenginedrivet8918 Very true JJ, it empowers you with more of the ability to understand and maintain this part of the rig. The newer automatics will go the way of the computer hole like everything else. You won't be able to fix them without sinking countless dollars into useless electronics. 👍
I’m hey great work guys I am impressed were are u guys located I have a super 10 transmission Eaton that I would love to fix having issues going to the high side don’t want to get rid of it bc I love it what would I be looking at spending for a full rebuild parts and labor
When you grabbed the first gear off the back side and stared at it for like 5 seconds.... I said "Yup, that ones goin in the trash xD" Great vid, brought back alot of memories tearing apart 18 speeds with my old man when I was younger.
I have a 1979 Ford Cabover with a 13 speed, although the splitter only holds firm in the upper position and will pop loose if I try to run the splitter in the lower position. Would love to work with you guys on freshening up my trans! Is it possible to swap in overdrive gears into these old Eaton fullers as well? My truck tops out at 64mph currently. Would love to chat!
I have a rtlo18913a only has 10 k miles on it the gear directly behind the shaft is completely strip and I striped gear stuck in one of the gears to right. How much to fix that
Like the video. Could you show what's wrong with gears being thrown away. Those with missing teeth are obvious but some aren't to me (just 12 minutes into it so it's the first ones that came out). Thanks.
Been taking these apart and put them together and reinstalling them for 35 years I worked in a high volume output drive train repair shop I can do this shit my sleep Arrow truck Detroit Michigan right next to the ambassador bridge they’ve been there since 1932 I now live in Georgia
Good video,I have an old RTO 9513 in a old 74 Dodge CT900 that needs some sliding clutches and seals and who knows what else and I'm trying to get up the nerve to tackle it. Probably a lot different from this one though?
thank you for video I just got a reman rockwell RMX10-145a from weller since thats what i had on my truck and couldnt afford a core price for an eaton wondering what oil do you recommend for using ? some some synthetic and some say not. what's the best please ? thank you for amazing video
I've got a eaton fuller 13 speed transmission that is leaking from top to bottom, but not out the back drive, it looks like it is leaking between the motor a transmission, would you suggest a new seal kits to rebuild the transmission, it's not showing any problem shifting and anything working improperly, it just leaks from everywhere it seems by being covered with oil from top to bottom, I'm in NC, so this is to get around tour shop, just some advice, unseen of course so any advice with a grain of salt is understandable, I appreciate your time, God bless and thanks for the videos
It wouldn’t hurt to reseal the transmission. You may have a rear main seal leaking on the engine side of things as well. Would definitely recommend replacing it if you’re going to pull the transmission.
This guy broke down an entire transmission in 20 mins but… i take my truck to rush to have it all re-keyed and locks changed… 5 days. Maybe i should move to Ga.
Wow, I would have liked to had those gears ⚙️ that you're throwing away, for other purposes, Not upset with you for throwing them away. But I could have used some gears for a project, 😢
Lots of folks say don't try to modify a 13 to be an 18. So. As dumb of an idea that would be. The smart thing would be to just swap the 13 to an 18. But, would you have to shorten the driveline? Is the 18 not the same length as a 13? Or is it longer?
We convert 13 speeds to 18 all the time in Jamaica, no problems or anything it’s just who has the experience to do it my Dad does it every other month or so
Take a brass hammer and it. Will come out This is a very common mistake or people remove the top covers I do not know how to properly reinstall them I’d like to know where you guys are I have been rebuilding these transmissions for over 30 years I’m very good at it I have all my own tools and I’m excellent I never have come back because I’m very anal about my workI have very good references I used to live in Detroit Michigan I work for one of the biggest repair facilities in the inner city of Detroit just saying if you ever need a hand working on these I would be more than happy to assist you for a price of course
If you take the input shaft calls her off take a bearing out take the employees shaft out push your counter shaft to the side get your giant fish ask if you even have one you can lift that main shaft out of there but you have to push the reverse here on the main shaft forward to worry at all last together and you can lift it all in one piece one day I’m ever in that city where your ass I’d be more than happy to come in there and show you how to do it the proper way
And not to step on your toes but that is not the proper way to take the back box apart because you’re risking the chance of those countershaft falling on the ground rolling off the bench and getting Nicks on the gears where are your backpack straps

The professional service and technical knowledge of the techs is absolutely unsurpassed!
Thank you for the nice comment Patrick!
This is the best video on how to replace a Eaton transmission I would replace the whole thing myself than trying to save most of it
Excellent disassembly
That was impressive, having a transmission stripped to a bare case in a 22 min uncut video.
I would like a little more explanation, such as why this gear is bad. Looked fine to me.
Didnt say what was bad

That's odd....they didn't have that model 40 years ago...sounds like you're a bit confused
@@truthbetold2914 Ok then, the seventies.

Can you give me the part # for the bearing puller ? Any other tools i might need ? . Thank you great content!
What kind of clip removal pliers are those?
I had one of these personally i dont care for it. Now a RTLO18913A different story lol.

We will most definitely post a video on how to rebuild one of these units in the near future. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment David
Do you have any spare 13 speeds and the right shaft for a 579 pete hanging around?
Been taking these apart and put them together and reinstalling them for 35 years I worked in a high volume output drive train repair shop I can do this shit my sleep Arrow truck Detroit Michigan right next to the ambassador bridge they’ve been there since 1932 I now live in Georgia
I have a rattle coming from the transmission, any idea what it is. Eaton 13 speed
Excellent experience work done. I'm interested to work with your company.

Will try to get a video on one of these units if we get the chance. They are alot different from the 13speeds of today.

50wt synthetic is what we use. But you could also use regular 50wt

Some of the bolts on top plate go into oil. pull & clean threads & put sealant i use silicone.
Do y’all have a vid on nv5600 6 speed trans teardown an rebuild?
How much have you spent on parts.?

If you take a hammer with a brass punch and knock that shaft forward a little it makes it easier for you to get that snap ring off for the idler shaft

Why are you using an extension yeah that takes the torque away from the gun you don’t need no freaking extension to take those things apart
