Come on people start subscribing this guy is putting out more quality step by step instructions videos than anyone else and this rig is just straight badass!!
This guy is like a few other channels on YT where actual work is done so he doesn't get ALL the truck loving population just the ones that either work on them or want to learn how. The channels with big sub counts do goofy kid shit and are basically like bob the builder channels. They have other people do the real work and then do cosmetic stuff themselves and the truck never sees real commercial use. Ezra is not one of those, coming from someone that does this too, he's the real deal. Honestly I have no idea why anybody would start a YT channel nowadays with all the BS, especially when fools like whistling weezul and Broooce Wilson are considered "truck" channels. But Ezra deserves a few hundred thousand so at least it'll pay for his time filming.
Retired mechanic here Ezra. Anytime I forget how good it is to be retired I'm going to re-watch this video. You sir, are a superstar in my book ! P.S.- love the clutch jack, great idea !
Love the videos!!! Great trick to removing/installing the clutch assembly!!! Glad to hear I'm not the only one to use the 'persuasive ' word approach when things don't go right!!!🤣
My boss asked me if I could handle an 18 speed. I said sure. 13, 15, 15 over. All the same I thought. He had bought a brand new 379 Pete. 1989. It was his personal truck, but he only drove it from the dealership. I took a load of coffee beans to Nashville, didn't sleep a wink, all night. Nervous about the truck. 18 speed is a simple, wonderful transmission. My favorite. Enjoyed the video! Great job !
Awesome transformation of “Old Red “ !!! The pride and passion you put into the truck is a pleasure to watch!!!! Keep doing what you do and we will see you on the next one 😎✌️
I always look forward to Saturday mornings working on Old Red. Nice video! You had to play Casey Jones, as I’m getting ready to go to work and run a train.
Today I fought trying to hang a wall mount for a TV. Ezra is swapping out the transmission in his Peterbilt with the precision of a robot. You are a machine in your own right!
What a great installation you preformed by your self. I have learned so much just by watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your passion on the rebuild of the 359.
You need a set of 6-8“ long line up bolts to put your flywheel on and off. Same for the clutch and transmission. Using those line up bolts make it so much easier. Also you can’t get your fingers stuck under the flywheel in the bell housing.
I agree 100% my Uncle taught me that nifty lil Trick many years ago. I keep long Line Up Bolts for about every big Truck Job (Rear Ends, Power Dividers, Trans, etc) in my Toolbox, and treat them like they are the Holy Grail.i never let anyone use them, borrow them, etc. If I even catch anyone looking at them, I am on them like white on rice. Lol Their not the easiest Bolts in the world to find.
@@hankclingingsmith8707 what you just seen took a couple of weeks, just like a hunting video, it's the eleventh day and we think we know the pattern the elk are traveling this morning, yeah it's a big job
Beautiful job on this. I'm in the middle of swapping a Spicer 5 speed out for an 8LL behind my little DT466 in a dump truck and found your channel. Great find and you have a new subscriber!
Never used a jack to remove a 14" clutch before but that jack would have come in handy for all the 15" clutches I've done. I started typing this while watching and realized your swapping over to a 15. Our alignment tool was an old input shaft with the main gear spline cut off and a 1/2 bolt welded on to make a removable t-handle. Most of the trucks we worked on were used in off road heavy construction, lots of dump and cement, 24" rubber tires, and I'm not talking about the 24.5 they have today I'm talking old school, huge Hendrix and Mack camel back susp. double and triple frame rails. And we didn't have a mag drill so if you were adding a tool box to the side you were leaning into a drill for awhile. Great music! Good luck!
Exellent work again, another quality video of yours. Eaton twin spilt, proper gearbox, non of the rubbish in todays trucks. I drive a volvo automatic 😬 over here. Looking forward to the next one feller 👍
I own a few trucks and can really appreciate the amount of difficult work you get done by yourself !!! Great learning videos !! Thanks and keep them coming !
when i am putting u-joints in, i hang the driveshaft from the frame with a small ratchet strap. that is how i like to do a repair...if i touch it and it wont last a good few years i replace it. much cheaper to do it while your in there than taking it all apart again or along side the road with a service truck. very enjoyable video ezra.
Something like this it's a lot better to just spend the money up front on parts while you're already doing the labor. Iv got a funny story about doing u u joint on the road I should tell in a video one of these days.
Another excellent video, clutch adjustment video you made save my ass, sure would be nice to hang out with you in the garage. Glad you listen to excellent music, some of these trucker videos with the hip-hop music, it's just not natural, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I really do appreciate it.
Only did it once - pulled my input shaft out before knocking out the wooden blocks holding the throw-out bearing in released position. Anyone who's done it knows what I'm talking about. Nice upgrade from a deep dish 14 clutch to a 15.5 - didn't see any vibration spacers when you pulled the original clutch. Plus for those who don't know, when you cut a deep dish flywheel not only do you cut the inside surface you cut the flange also. Great video - thanks bringing us along!

What a treat seeing this baby go into Old Red first thing in the morning!!! That 6 puck twin disk looks nice! Flywheel looks good too and possibly a little lighter by design. GREAT idea with your clutch hanger! a thought for you Ezra. regarding hanging the flywheel, we would take some old head bolts (they're grade 8) of proper size, cut the head off, rethread if need be and use one or two as doll pins screwed into the crank to hang that HEAVY flywheel to allow to put in a few bolts before removing the pins. worked great!!! it's been years, cant remember if i d the same for the clutch(?). Great job! The only bad words I can imagine that a truck driver/owner operator might use would be..."good grief"... 2050 clutch!?!? Sounds like someone might be tempted to dive into the pump down the road...
yeah plan is to giver a little really don't plan on turning it up so much that i really need a 2050tq clutch but you know how those plans can sometimes change down the road...lol
I love watching you keep your rigs restored and in good shape. I'm an old ND native living in Northern Montana now. Please wear some goggles under things. @EZRider 359 Awesome Video Man, Big Heavy Jobs like this are possible to do by yourself when you have the right Equipment. I have performed this exact swap before my myself. I Fabricated a Clutch Jack also, pretty similar to yours, using an old Input Shaft. I also have Fabricated little Jigs for my Jack for doing Power Dividers, Rears, etc. I also have one for the Flywheel. I hate wrestling those I'm alone. Keep up the Great Work. 👍 We are very like minded. I would never think of paying someone to do this kind of work on my Truck. There's not.much I would ever pay someone to do to my Truck, except maybe Polishing. I hate to polish Aluminum !

The best darn DIY resto. job on TH-cam
Looking forward to the next video and test ride...can't beat the 18 fuller
Much respect to you, that is a lot of bull work. You can go ahead and cancel your gym membership. Great tunes and information as always.
Wow! You are a badass mechanic! Had to watch all the way to the end
Thank you for posting great informative videos. 60107 says hi.
I love watching you keep your rigs restored and in good shape. I'm an old ND native living in Northern Montana now. Please wear some goggles under things. I had a hole cup of rust fall into my eyes and a nasty trip to the eye doc. Keep them coming. Oh .. and I always screw my nuts back on so I don't lose them. 🤪
Great video you certainly work hard good luck in the future sir
You sir are one hard ass worker. Great job. Watching this made my back hurt.
We are very like minded. I would never think of paying someone to do this kind of work on my Truck. There's not.much I would ever pay someone to do to my Truck, except maybe Polishing. I hate to polish Aluminum !
Very good and informative video old red will be a credit to you when finished and on the road keep up the good work
