    Are there any parts of the country still tectonically rising today? I've always wondered this, if the forces that pushed the chalk up out of the ocean are still at play, or if the whole country (except the granite bits) is doomed to wash away as happens on the south and east coasts. Anyway cool video.

      Shropshire is right on the pivot around which the north of British Isles is rising and the south sinking due to the weight of the last glaciation compressing what is now Scotland. The net effect of the continued decompression due to the ice melting is that there is very little change over time in the height of land across the English Midlands.
