Well, it’s still a nice place. It’s close to me, and I still visit fairly frequently, but it’s not what it was. Shops have closed down, probably impacted by the pandemic, when a lot of people did a greater proportion of their shopping online: they seem to have continued with that. I suppose that’s the case with many places across the country.
@@susan5199 looking back 10, 20 or 30 years and more all those places have changed enormously. The small specialist shops have gone. For example, there was a small leatherwork / saddlery shop in Oswestry that I remember from decades ago - that closed down in the past few weeks. I used to go there for things now and again. Over the last 10-15 years or so, online shopping has been growing, but the thing that pushed small brick-and-mortar shops to the wall was, I think, the pandemic. Lots of them lost so much money they couldn’t keep going. It’s very sad, but it’s a sign of the times, I’m afraid.
Lived there from 2002 to 2011. It was a good place to be. Visited in 2022. Now plagued by gangs of East Europeans, drunks and beggars. Empty shops, rubbish everywhere. I don't know how you missed all that in the video but unfortunately Oswestry is now a horrible place
You need to visit the park when everything is in bloom, the work they put in there is amazing...
lovely walk, thanks. Visiting there today from Hereford, but not sure if we have time to walk around this area. Thanks for the tour. :-)
