  • Magpie Mine at Sheldon three miles west of Bakewell is arguably the most famous of all the old lead mines in the Peak District. It is a scheduled ancient monument and is in the care of the Peak District Mines Historical Society (PDMHS). This video summarises the history of the mine and describes a trip organised by the PDMHS to inspect the integrity of the drainage tunnel (sough).

    surprised the environment agencies did not recommend a syphon bung for the sought from lathkill. Interesting and envious of your explore , that watermill looks great
