I was born in 2006 and started morrowind yesterday, safe to say you inspired me to try it out. I grew up playing Skyrim so morrowind is like a whole different game series but I kinda like it more
Well they do have a point in a way. There's been various research experiments looking into that. How creativity works and so forth. In general if you give someone a blank check: "You can do anything"... they tend not to. Their mind will fall into what they "know" are successful patterns. A+B worked last time so when given the guideline of "Anything" they go back to A+B more often than not. But if you suddenly tell them that their set up has to include C, D, and E in it... well it breaks them out of the auto complete style ruts. It might force them to look into topics that they never considered before. Or an attempt to simplify back to A+B needs to account for the new data and thus makes new connections. Basically if you tell someone: "Make an RPG" odds are you'll have an inferior product in terms of creative input than "Make a Morrowind RPG". And in video games we can see this play out as well. A good example of this ends up being Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. A studio who doesn't like doing Black and White Morality is told to do an RPG based on a setting with Black and White Morality and a lot of hangups. Instead of ignoring it, they embraced both their own writing style and the lore existing to create something people do consider a fascinating and thought inspiring masterpiece of a story for that setting. Rather than a story they created that crowbarred in a Lightsaber.
The Aimrah quest sequence seems like a pretty clear "A Shadow Over Innsmouth" HP Lovecraft reference. It all fits. The port town with unwelcoming people, the cult of fish worshippers, the nightmares, even the half-dreughs are a clear stand in for the deep one hybrids. The fact that what is essentially an unrelated story can be so seamlessly adapted to the Morrowind setting is a testament to high level of quality of the writing and environment design of the Tamriel Rebuilt team.
I can see where the forum user was coming from about changing lore. Playing a lot of tabletop games and reading through adventures and sourcebooks sometimes I would see the lore and think it was stupid or want to change it to make it better. I eventually realized though that I was better off making my own lore and own world that I came up with myself if I was already gonna change so much stuff.
This was invaluable in catching up on everything TR has done, I especially like the bit at the end of a future community picking up the remnants and starting over ❤
Man, can't wait for Skyrim 2 especially gonna love the dlc where we get to travel to Arby's deadric realm where every inhabitant is a Arby's employee and Jarl Balgruuf has started a business selling legalized Skooma. But on a Serious note really love seeing these kind of videos for TR. It's exactly the kind of stuff I would've loved to watch 5 years ago when I first got into Morrowind and TR. So thanks my friend keep them coming as well as all of your other great content that brings a tear to an older school gamer like me.
What a cool exploration of history. I've never played around with Nexus before I started watching this channel; I am smol brained and mods outside of steam workshop spook me with its esoteric use of things called "RAR" components. It's been fun and this video gives me such a greater appreciation for all of it. I am currently considering registering WinRAR since it asked so nicely, but I think I'll put it off for a while.
Is this a history of tamriel rebuilt or the world during my lifetime? I have my doubts that the Iraq war had anything to do with the development of Tamriel Rebuilt but maybe they tore down all the statues of Saddam on mainland morrowind too. Great stuff as always man! It's pretty cool that despite all the changes we've experienced throughout life Tamriel Rebuilt has stayed on a somewhat steady path.
Heh, that Patriots faction design is kind of charming. It reminds me of the kind of stuff I'd do when I was playing around with modding or making Minecraft maps as a kid - I'd start out with a really grand design, have little or no plan, spend something like 5 hours solid on it and then lose interest after stumbling across something else.
You really deserve more views and subs, the effort in the videos and information is unreal and I look every day for a new video. Keep up the amazing work!

>Wash your muatra No. *also Jordon Peterson would probably have a damn fit if he actually read Howard Zinn. good thing he doesn't actually read anything*
Spectacular video, as always. Considering the avalanche of change we experienced during the 'naughties and the calibre of releases up through the 2010's it's astonishing that such a highly unlikely project survived more or less intact. This is why it's so great to be smug asshole Morrowind grognard.
Yet another video watched in one sitting! I have to say that you post quality videos with interesting topics, I really love them. You have a very interesting take on your videos and gameplay and the way you roleplay is genuinely very clever. Looking forward to some new content! And you too remember to wash your muatra.
Speaking on other dimensions we have seen in TES, ESO is at least worth bringing up. Sotha Sil's Clockwork City is the first that comes to mind. A small sphere housing a realm in itself (yes it's just like Boo's Mansion from Mario 64). The realm, which we've technically been to in the Tribunal Expansion, is powered by Sotha Sil and houses many experiments and even modern inventions only Seht himself understands. Of course this place, more than any other, has to be kept in mind. It's not like Tribunal gave us much on the City, so this place more than anywhere is deeply tied to Morrowind but is also to ESO, a conundrum. Hircine's Hunting Grounds are entered though there's not much to talk about. It's a heaven for werewolves and hunters but to a mortal you might as well be stuck in a big forest but everyone is trying to kill you. Though I should mention I have not been there in the game personally. You get to walk on the moon(s), of course. I've never been there, but it doesn't have a "lunar" aesthetic, has a lot of Nirn assets, but that could be good or bad depending on interpretation. Especially since it hold deep ties to Khajiti religion and culture. Coldharbour, Molag Bal's realm, is practically just Tamriel, but in ruins and everything is trying to kill you. So normal Tamriel but on steroids and significantly more blue. The Evergloam is Nocturnal's plane of oblivion, and the best comparison I can make is it looks like Dark Souls. An endless expanse of ruins, forests, swamps, but holds a certain beauty with subtle lighting and mysteries. But of course the servants of Nocturnal are wrenching out the souls of trespassers so it's not all that nice. Fargrave is its own, neutral plane of oblivion. It's an exchange center for pretty much all races, including deadric. It's pretty much the scamp town in TR but with a more "demonic" aesthetic and more tamrielic races involved in the commerce. There's maybe a dozen more areas, but I don't think they're much worth bringing up, or I simply don't know about them. I'm not the biggest fan of ESO if I'm being honest, but I do have an interest in taking advantage of their work, to springboard ideas. The brief discussion on other worlds in TES games in certainly an area where ESO can spark the imagination, even if it's how one can improve on these places.
This was actually a banging watch. Though the 'future' prospect with the DLC-riddled battlespire Fallout Scrolls hit a little too much on the nose I thought lol
13:00 the irony is that Morrowind was better than Oblivion. Loot scaling meant shops had trash until you leveled up, common bandits would have daedric armor at high levels. Rare trophy items were scaled down if you got them too early in the game. And enchanting and alchemy were greatly diminished in player choice. But hey, it had slightly better graphics, so woo hoo... People are just stupid, with no understanding of quality.
@@amadeusagripino6862 the real problem is the open world, how do you make a world that is fully explorable but still keep end game elements? Developers are just too lazy to make a world that works. What you want to do is have the cities and places where people travel often scaled for beginners, then the farther out you go the harder it gets. but that takes intelligence, which tod howard doesnt have...
@@chimp_monke123 New Vegas did it pretty well: end-game faction npcs and equipment only show up in any meaningful amount after the reinforcement stage of the main quest is under way. Other than that, most enemies have the same gear throughout the game. Running into high level enemies at a low level may be advantageous, if you can use your available items and your wit to your advantage.
@@HandOfThemis I just dont trust developers to understand anything, they will jack up the graphics but totally miss the point of what the game is supposed to be. A big thing they need to do is a have a small talk system in the game. Talking to different characters tells you who they are, changes their disposition toward you, reveals quests, radiant events, lots of dynamic things that can change if you talk to someone, or neglect to talk to anyone.
@@chimp_monke123 You're saying this as someone who clearly has never developed a game professionally before. There are constraints for games of certain sizes, and for certain engines. Not saying that what you're talking about is impossible necessarily, but with certain time restraints and game engines it most certainly is.

ending of the words is ALMSIVI ;);););););)
Project Tamriel will one day become the foundation of world peace.
The difference with Bethesda is that's what they do but they keep it within the same world setting for some reason
I'm a proud Morrozoomer at the age of 14
This was invaluable in catching up on everything TR has done, I especially like the bit at the end of a future community picking up the remnants and starting over ❤
Man, can't wait for Skyrim 2 especially gonna love the dlc where we get to travel to Arby's deadric realm where every inhabitant is a Arby's employee and Jarl Balgruuf has started a business selling legalized Skooma.
Register your WinRAR and register your BSAs!
I do agree with the idea that lore is a guideline, not a holy book. Star Wars is my fav series and it's lore has changed in flex.
10:10 You shut your mouth! Sonichu is real to me damn it!
You really deserve more views and subs, the effort in the videos and information is unreal and I look every day for a new video. Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you!!!!
I love the title "Attack Of The Clones" if nothing else. It sounds sinister and evil, and then it turns out the "good guys" are the ones using the clones to attack. Very cheeky!
Excellent job as always Warlock, was really cool to see a legit breakdown of one of the most ambitious mods of all time.
Warlockracy returns bearing gifts! Thank the Maker!
"My old Duck And Cover posts"
Hell, same except I was a frequent No Mutants Allowed poster and even the RPGCodex when it was a bit less... whatever it is now.
damn this style you have here is great, I enjoyed the intersectioning of the mod and the history of the mod, and of course, the poetry
YEEEE BOOOI SKYRIM 2 I'VE BEEN (Would have been?) WAITING FOR 12 YEARS
That sh*tpost at the end was awesome and i wouldn't even mind to get your Skyrim 2 game
I totally agree with your friend, the closest I got to modding Morrowind was enabling Bloodmoon and Tribunal plugins, tho I've been interested in trying TR and Morrowind Rebirth for years now...
I just finished watching your tamriel rebuilt video today, and then this is uploaded. Just my luck
Update: Just finished watching. What a fucking funny ending
The epilogue . . . my guy. So good.
The ending part surprised me and left my sides hurting from laughter. Another great video, I really enjoy your video format and style.
Thanks!!
>Wash your muatra
No.
*also Jordon Peterson would probably have a damn fit if he actually read Howard Zinn. good thing he doesn't actually read anything*
Loved the video and LOVED the ending! What an amazing way of procrastination from work you provide to us dirty peasants.
50 minutes of TR info? yes please
2113:
I wonder what ever happened to that Ender kid!?!
Wonderful video amigo! btw that mod list you gave me worked wonders, and I'm currently playing and loving Morrowind, thanks!
Howard Zinn would be proud. Adding to my Watch Later list!
Oh boy, I was just wondering when this was going to come out.
Spectacular video, as always. Considering the avalanche of change we experienced during the 'naughties and the calibre of releases up through the 2010's it's astonishing that such a highly unlikely project survived more or less intact. This is why it's so great to be smug asshole Morrowind grognard.
Yet another gem brought to me by autoplay. Sometimes, the algorithm just works.
Subbed.
"I'm sorry that I got fat, I will slim down"
Yet another video watched in one sitting! I have to say that you post quality videos with interesting topics, I really love them. You have a very interesting take on your videos and gameplay and the way you roleplay is genuinely very clever. Looking forward to some new content! And you too remember to wash your muatra.
I will NEVER wash my muatra
You filthy s'wit
@33:53
Hey Ivon Seloth, what kind of impossible things? Dragons? Dead people? Otherworldy beings? YOU LIVE IN A GODDAMN MAGICAL REALM
I'm really happy the algorithm suggested this video to me. What an undervalued channel.
There had better not be more than two Reichs Parkeeps in the elder scrolls else the Thalmor is the least of our problems
Not that I ever doubted it but 10:09 cemented that this channel is pure solid gold
You’re really doing a service to the history of video games by going over the early detailed history of the mod (or plug-in)
Excellent work!! Opening was 10/10
Please keep these coming! Just getting into Morrowind through OpenMW VR and am looking forwards to visiting the mainland soon!
9:14 The sino-soviet split refference works well lol
13:27, Chékhov and Pushkin right? Damn, I now like this channel even more.
Dominions of dust is out now and really good.
Great video! I am enjoying watching it as someone who only took the leap of installing it 2 years ago.
This was actually a banging watch. Though the 'future' prospect with the DLC-riddled battlespire Fallout Scrolls hit a little too much on the nose I thought lol
Great video. Thanks for doing all that research. You missed the creation of OpenMW. I’m hoping one day TR switches to using OpenMW-CS for modding.
hell yes dude thanks for this. i would love more mod histories
Level scaling is probably one of the dumbest gameplay features ever invented.
Awesome vid man! Really love the longer content.
HOly Moly I remember when the project first started! I got access to an early build but my computer couldn't handle morrowind back then...Never knew what happened to the project.
What a wonderful start to my morning, once again exceptional work!
Love the amount of people I've been finding making videos on Elder Scrolls lately. Got a sub from me
