A 48 second clip in which there are three clear pop culture references (Clockwork Orange, Queen, Sinatra) and two brilliant gags (Homer just casually stepping over his son having a seizure and a flashback to using an hilarious Fake ID) with a genius reworking of the lyrics of the original song AND it's also bittersweet and genuinely quite sad and touching to see a man who's clearly battling his alcoholism. Again all within 48 seconds. It's good to remind yourself just how breathtakingly amazing the Simpsons once was.

Based on Brian McGee's age and DOB, we have to assume that Homer purchased his beer sometime between 2nd August 1974 and 2nd August 1975. We might assume from the colour of the Queen poster behind him that he was listening to 'A Night at the Opera', but neither the album nor any single thereupon was released until later in 1975. Therefore we are left to conclude that Homer most likely fell asleep listening to the band's third album, 'Sheer Heart Attack', which peaked at #12 in the US, and had just one charting single, 'Killer Queen', which also reached #12. Either that or he was listening to one of the first two albums, neither of which cracked the US top 40 on initial release. So while Homer wasn't what you'd call a trendsetter in this respect, he definitely came to enjoy the band earlier than most American listeners would, and certainly has excellent taste in music.

When I was 17, I heard this song in mp3 format downloaded from a software like limewire. Now I'm nearly as old as what Homer used to be at the time.

I never really noticed that Duff beer is an amber bock, but Moe's draft beer at the bar is a light lager or pale ale when we see the fellas there drinking out of glass mugs.

As a 17 year old myself I think i'm living a similar life now as when Homer was 17. I seem to be in a very early stage of an alcoholic and i'm listening to Queen. This is bad :(
