For the most part Moe is acting like a lowlife bum but there are moments where he is very compassionate and thats why he is one of my favourite characters

As much as Moe is a depressed, self loafing, accident causing, wife chasing, unkept troll-lookalike, the fact he reads to sick children and volunteers at shelters shows he's truly selfless when he wants to be. He just has a facade to keep up.
Homer, Moe and the young and old Wiggums are top 4 of the 5 for me as far as regulars. When I was younger and the show was new Bart was #1 but as age hits he dropped in the rankings... willie, barney and Lenny fight over #5
The Simpsons is the greatest show of ALL TIME, imo. It's because of 'secondary' characters like Moe, Chief Wiggum, Krusty, Otto the bus driver, Groundskeeper Willie, Supt. Skinner, Apu, etc,etc....they all became so, so very funny and essential to the shows longevity and success.
People laugh at Moe but I've learned a lot from him. Particularly I knew exactly what to do when someone started dissing my fly girl
