Justin Sison back then the commercials leaned on “health” benefits of smoking and also emphasized smoking pleasure. They also marketed smoking as more of a treat for people. Always showed people taking a relaxing smoke break after a long meeting, a hard task, at the end of a long day, ect. Alcohol commercials do the same thing today in their commercials and ads.

I believe in America that it's illegal for cops to immediately use a breathalyzer cos of their constitutional rights. They rely on some hand-eye coordination/alphabet test and then resort to a proper breathalyzer at the station if they think the persons' drunk. Here in NZ (and Australia as well) the first tool is always the hand-held breathalyzer administered on the spot.
I was pulled over and was sober, asked just to take a breathalyzer because I'm clumsy as fuck and was told they don't have one. Somehow I didn't get taken in after almost falling over for 5 minutes.

I thought Barney a prick for dobbing Homer in……but then I remembered Homer smashed the car door on Barney head, repeatedly.
"CNN?... Whoa!"
That line kills me.
Well it's not true
K Doherty wtf do you mean it’s not true lol? There’s nothing to be not true the joke is that that Springfieldians are dumbass conservatives who just watch fox
@@JustCallMeEm. Pretty ironic considering CNN right now
Same here
@@kdohertygizbur Just another one to add to the growing list of "Things The Simpsons Predicted".
"GIVE HIM THE BREATHALYZER!" hahahahaa Barney cracks me up xD
I guess payback for bashing his head in repeatedly with the car door
Are you American by chance ?
And the cops are so dumb not to check Barney too!
My favorite part was where Homer was trying to knock out Barney with punches, a crowbar, and smashing his head in with the door. That always makes me laugh and never fails to make me fall on the floor.
Michael S alright barney you leave me no choice! xD
It was a realistic portrayal of someone trying to knock out someone out
liar. I'd bet every dime I have that it has never made you fall on the floor even once
0:18 I love how Barney says “cnn woah”😂.
So many good jokes in 3.43 minutes I fucking love classic simpsons episodes like this one.
GOD bless America , for it's always been able to laugh about itself , one love from Russia
I thought this was a documentary!? 😐
🍺🙂
This era of the show has so many comfy childhood memories for me, and rewatching it now I'm older I get that nostalgia plus I can actually appreciate more of the jokes. Love you golden age Simpsons.
Childhood memories? Lol I remember as a kid not being allowed to watch it, being an adult show.
I feel ya!! So classic
@@wackyworkbench That's sad
Such found memories of getting drunk and smoking dope with the funniest show on TV
They are truly the best
The three Duff flavors joke you won't see on Disney since they cropped it out to fit 16:9
You can change the aspect ratio back in the settings
Chief Wiggum: Look alive boys. Couple of stewed prunes headed your way...
Still my all time favorite line in this show. My eyes still literally piss tears every single time I hear it... 😂😂😂
liar
Unlikely.
You must be the writer who wrote that joke because I can promise you no one else found that joke THAT funny
Are all those likes from your other accounts
damn bro how many urethras u got
I think I speak for everybody when I say. "I WANT THAT CLOCK!"
Oh god yeah!
Same
I want that as my alarm clock!! How cool would it be to wake up like that every morning?
I want that clock too
3:04 “🎵W X Y and Z. Now I know my ABC’s, won’t you come and play with me🎵”

“Flawless.”
False.
Can't get enough of that wonderful duff.
Unless you are a commie or Nixon
"We don't have any ideas for the future. We got nothing. Happy?"
cut to a room full of Dark Duff and Raspberry duff
Yeah, but those aren't *new* ideas
Was tartar control duff?
no
"Thanks, that makes it all worthwhile." Very underated line!
"It was on CNN... Anyway, it's not true."
With cnn today it would be debatable
redundant
Fake news
I wonder if it was trustworthy even back then
Well it's not true
A real Trumper
I like how close Barney got to wiggum “sure thing giant beer” and didn’t smell the alcohol on his person 😂😂
"Sure thing giant beer!" I still say that from time to time.
liar
So many clever jokes in such a short amount of time. Classic simpsons
"Give him the breathalyzer!", that's something my friends would shout under the same senero.
What's a senero?
@@danielhausser8038 Those are the guys in Congress.
With friends like those, who needs enemies?
do your friends make fun of the way you spell ?
The explosion at the end always gets me, lmao. Movies have gotten away from it, but the unrealistic crash + explosion in movies always slayed me.
I’ve always loved the quality control scene, it always cracks me up!
Is there a Duff Lime?
there better not be
Only available in Mexico
Duff lime and bitters
It's called lady duff
@@JimmyTurner or french duff
Hank Azaria really elevated that ending
It was so good, he inspired Michael Bays entire career.
As the years have gone by and I rewatch a lot of these clips, I’m realizing there’s these one-off Phil Hartman contributions sprinkled in like the announcer in the 1960 commercial. I never appreciated how much he did outside of Hutz and McClure.
"Alright, we don't have any ideas for the future, we got nothing, happy?"
"...no" :
Proudly sponsored by the Amos n' Andy Show 💀 went right over my head for the longest 🤣 "we're proud of all our sponsors"
Give him the breathalyzer! ^_^
Sure thing giant beer
A moment of silence for what used to be the greatest cartoon of all time. USED TO BE.
family guy was also good in that era
1:57 This part is absolutely genius. The fact that no one cared about someone putting a fucking JAR with Hitler's head in it is hilarious. I love the subtle jokes in The Simpsons.
"Think you can get this car home?" "Sure thing, Giant Beer!"
"Look alive boys. A couple of stewed prunes headin' your way."
I remember going to the Coors brewery in the 90s and it was exactly like this episode lol...
2:15. He forgot Hillary Duff.
No.
2:35: "I'm trying to knock you out!" LOL
Fine, fine, fine... False teeth... Fine... broken bottle top... Mino...
Fine... Fine... Hitler's head in a jar.
If I was him, I would say "...Wait, what?"
+SpeedyEric1 "oh not again!"
Eddie Banks that's the third time this week!
*minnow
the checking guy did Nazi that one passing
THANK YOU for including the typical male sitting in a recliner drinking beer and burping intro that has replaced a regular bird chirping like on a big clock🤣🤣 First time I saw it my stomach hurt so much from laughing I though my stomach would burst open. It is so fitting!! 😂 The Simpsons knew what they were doing.
The first 8 or 9 years of this show were truly some amazing and hilarious TV. As you said, they really knew what they were doing.
Who do you think you're talking to exactly?
I very audibly shouted "Ha!" in response to that and startled Seymour out of a sound sleep and caused him to fall out of bed
Wiggum having fun will never stop being hilarious.
Until he explodes! (for no reason)
So Barney gets away with drinking while Homer doesn't, lol.
And for once Homer really didn't drink (except the gummi if that's alcoholic)
@@user-ub4dv5cu8s didn't Homer say I'm drunker than you I took it as I'm drunk too but your had more alcohol
No one said Chief Wiggum was a good police officer.
00:35 Wow, I _just_ realized that "Q-zone" was a reference to "T-zone" that I kept hearing in those old-timey Philip Morris cigarette commercials.
That was RJ Reynolds commercials, specifically Camel commercials.
@@CamaroAmx Must have been an industry-wide thing then. I saw it on the season 1 (or season 2) Blu-rays of I Love Lucy.
The first ten years of the Simpsons was simply a golden era, so so many jokes and nuances. My sister and i grew up on it, she still surprises me with random forgotten lines
MAN this show deserves its spot as one of the best TV shows of all time, especially coming back to old episodes. So many quotable things that people still remember, I mentioned I watched the episode where Lisa turns vegetarian to someone and they instantly started singing "you don't make friends with salad"
whenever I drive by someone pulled over by the cops, I always yell 'give 'im the breathalyzer'
nice
+JOE FAQURSELF Huh? It's first tool what police use in my country.
Jin- watch the video again and see what I mean
I believe in America that it's illegal for cops to immediately use a breathalyzer cos of their constitutional rights. They rely on some hand-eye coordination/alphabet test and then resort to a proper breathalyzer at the station if they think the persons' drunk.
Here in NZ (and Australia as well) the first tool is always the hand-held breathalyzer administered on the spot.
I was pulled over and was sober, asked just to take a breathalyzer because I'm clumsy as fuck and was told they don't have one. Somehow I didn't get taken in after almost falling over for 5 minutes.
The don't drink and drive sign followed by there's always time for a duff always makes me laugh
It’s the sort of thing these companies actually do.
Look at the Gambling ads “When the FUN stops, stop” the Fun is all big and bright, while the stop is barely noticable
This clip has close to 30 brilliant jokes in less than 4 minutes
@@Nahue91Carp Genius
Three and a half minutes and there’s more hysterical jokes than an entire new season of the Simpsons.
The sad thing is that on Disney +, they crop out the top so it doesn't show that Duff, Duff lite and dry comes out of the same pipe.
Really??? It's probably still funnier than any modern Simpsons ep (2000 onwards) but certainly Disney is ruin most things these days!
@@frankbeans5921 yeah it wasn't done on purpose, Simpsons episodes are more zoomed and cropped weirdly on Disney+ and they still never fixed it. They've received a lot of complaints about it
@@Marceles45 I'm guessing they were cutting and stretching it for modern TVs? If that is the case and they haven't fixed it it's either becuase they don't care or the cut doesn't exist anymore apart from on DVD or blu-ray 🤷♂️
@@frankbeans5921 After looking it up there's an option in the details tab to change it from 16:9 format to 4:3. The option wasn't there originally but I'm glad they finally fixed it
Try and get all the dvd's of them if you can, for the unedited scene's
That man never drank a Duff in his life ... 😅 Homer’s disguist is classic
The man never drank a duff in his life. XD I love that tone in Homer's voice.
I love The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, but Golden Era Simpsons is as good as TV ever got. So many jokes and they all land. It's also so multi-layered, there are surface jokes, subversive jokes, just so much happening that you can literally watch it dozens of times and catch something new every time.
"CNN? Whooaaoaaooaoaoa" lmfao when Barney was in his prime
