It's amazing how well preserved this place is. Very few people, if almost any, have been here since the war. Especially with no Graphiti on the bunkers. Fantastic location!!! Great Find!

You were right, this site does not disappoint, it just keeps giving and giving. That fire control bunker is out of this world, I could spend hours just in the single bunker exploring. Still under construction in part, and I wonder if they were going to put concrete on the roof section, to give a finished tunnel appearance. How wonderful to go back and watch this video again. I have gotten behind trying to rewatch these videos. Sometimes life throws things at you that you have to handle so it takes you away from many things I enjoy. I had forgotten how much equipment must of been here and all the surprises around every turn. Great adventure for sure.

Great part 2. Amazing hard rock mining operation to create it. The rock on the tunnel landing floor could be roof spalling but with the floor already concreted it is not likely. The spalling would have been peeled down so nobody gets crushed. It still could be from micro-cracks that have slowly over the 70 years frozen in the winter and finally fractured enough. It is evident that humans went through and ripped out components and knocked down the walls to get around. One of your best finds so far, awaiting 3 & 4 to see more. Well done video my friend. My goodness, you could just keep going down, down, down! What a bunker complex! A battle room with an oven - I could spend hours going over all the stuff in there! That place is just gigantic! Would they have used something like this underground area to assemble something for the war effort? All the wood, bottle parts and cables, crazy! The Schneider guns in the distance - WOW! The fire control bunker was massive. Just imagine the time spent designing and building using the environmental resources, and to think it is still standing today. That area must be less trodden as there seems like there is no vandalism, and to think that there are still original Schneider guns there. Thanks for taking us inside the Bunker EE & HH. It was huge with all the different levels. I think you are right, it looks like blocked that one entrance with rocks. Maybe a safety issue? Hope you had mosquito repellent one as you don't want Lyme Disease again. Really looking forward to the Bonus and P3. Stay safe. Cool plane EE.
Think how much concrete that was poured in all the thousands of bunkers, bomb shelters and all the other structures the Germans used over the entire war.
I was stationed in Germany back in 1971 to 1976 my air base was on a hill, on the sigfried line these kind of bunkers were everywhere, they were all connected by tunnels and under ground complexes, storage,and hospitals it was really amazing to explore, farmers were always uncovering bombs in their fields the town was zweibrucken.
My dad was stationed at spangdalem in the 70's. As a little kid I remember seeing bigger kids coming out of the wooded area just off base with a German helmet with a huge shrapnel opening in it. I think the closest town to the air base was bitburg...
Whoa!!! This location melts my brain lol. The sheer extensiveness of the control bunker is mind boggling. It was obviously one of their most high-tech installations, judging by the cabling and all that. I'd have given anything to know what the electronics looked like when it was in use in WWII. And those guns!! That was even more astounding - the fact that they are still in situ! I won't sleep until your next video so we can get a close look at them. The next video looks amazing. Cannot wait. But this one is also so amazing. What looked like a basic Firing Control Bunker turned out to be so much more. Just Incredible. And spotting those guns just sitting there after all these years. Just Wow!. But those tunnels under the bunker. The work involved, just to dig, and move, all that rock. A huge effort. Obviously when it was in use, that tunnel and the rooms would have been packed with radios, and generators, and electrical gear, and it was all robbed out after the way. It looks like the rock laying around on the floors is spalling from the walls, and roofs. 70 odd years of temperature changes, and the freezing and unfreezing water, will do that. Which is why they lined their tunnels with concrete and brick, because even back then, they would have known about that. What an amazingly complex and stunning this whole site has become. Bring on Part 3! Thank you for braving all those mosquitos to bring this to us! Cheers! Stay Safe!

I'm speculating that as the Allies overtook this position they detonated explosives throughout the bunker completely destroying the interior. I think the large room with lots of broken wood was a bunk room for sleeping accommodations. The wood was likely bed frames from double stacked bunk beds. The "cooking" area was immediately next to the sleeping room which makes perfect sense. One of those side rooms must have been latrine or bathroom which also makes sense. The rock scattered throughout could have fallen from the ceiling during explosive demolition. The exits blocked by rock was also likely intentionally caused by explosives thus making the facility less likely to be reactivated should the Allied forces loose this ground during battle. Interesting!
Spectacular firing control bunker and undergruond facilities. A little worried about all those rocks on the floor, seems to have fallen from the ceiling. Be careful in those places, as you never know when the next one falls down. Looking forward to see more of the remaining Schneider guns out there.

Those area's would be great history lessons. In a way, it's a pitty they can't be restored to that error. Put in photos of how the personnel lived. Not to bring up bad memories for any people. To show how bad wars were/are and what the people went through. Teach teens life history and how hard life really was for their grandparents. Shame those old historical sites were left to rot away.
@@WW2HistoryHunter Also put in sounds from that era as well as photographs, mannequins with the old clothing, helmets etc of where the staff sat, ate, fired from etc. Maybe have running commentary through the bunkers of each area. Would be a real eye opener for so many people. History that should be taught.
In this tour I wish in some of these interiors you had one of you in the picture frame to be able to show us viewers as reference point in the size of these rooms and tunnels.
In the tunnels under the fire control bunker where you wondered if there had been generators as there was soot on the ceiling, I wondered, as there was burnt wood there, if scavengers had gathered cables together and set a fire to the to burn off the worthless insulating material, so as they only had to carry the valuable metal, to wherever.
When you went up that last set of stairs I thought there was going to be another tower going up to a panzer turret like the other location. I wonder if all the electronics that were there were for one of the new radar systems the Germans were developing? I would love to search through all the debris to see what is under it. These adventures are getting more and more interesting.
Bunkers and underground tunnelling are everywhere especially on the still active military training sites along with war vehicles/weapons remains that are protected artifacts now. When training there in ‘91 a couple of us found undetinated booby trap at end of a bunker rear escape tunnel.

I'm really impressed as it is really enormous under the roof! Somehow I find it a shame that there is no interior period photos of the bunker to provide a better idea how the electrical boxes and the offices was placed! Anyway you both did a great job again 👍👍👍👍

looks like pyrite and minable lead/zinc in some of those viens,, lucky didnt get a hit the pyrite goes off with lots flames and small bangs.

This was an amazing WW2 Atlantic Wall site. I actually got a nervios stomach when you were in the tunnels. I can hardly wait for the next episodes.

Yes just a unreal location and loved it so much. The entrance could have been blocked for safety reason but i really dont know for sure. Thanks Laura.

The next video looks amazing. Cannot wait. But this one is also so amazing. What looked like a basic Firing Control Bunker turned out to be so much more. Just Incredible. And spotting those guns just sitting there after all these years. Just Wow!. But those tunnels under the bunker. The work involved, just to dig, and move, all that rock. A huge effort. Obviously when it was in use, that tunnel and the rooms would have been packed with radios, and generators, and electrical gear, and it was all robbed out after the way. It looks like the rock laying around on the floors is spalling from the walls, and roofs. 70 odd years of temperature changes, and the freezing and unfreezing water, will do that. Which is why they lined their tunnels with concrete and brick, because even back then, they would have known about that. What an amazingly complex and stunning this whole site has become. I'm speculating that as the Allies overtook this position they detonated explosives throughout the bunker completely destroying the interior. I think the large room with lots of broken wood was a bunk room for sleeping accommodations. The wood was likely bed frames from double stacked bunk beds. The "cooking" area was immediately next to the sleeping room which makes perfect sense. One of those side rooms must have been latrine or bathroom which also makes sense. The rock scattered throughout could have fallen from the ceiling during explosive demolition. The exits blocked by rock was also likely intentionally caused by explosives thus making the facility less likely to be reactivated should the Allied forces loose this ground during battle. Interesting!

Spectacular firing control bunker and undergruond facilities. A little worried about all those rocks on the floor, seems to have fallen from the ceiling. Be careful in those places, as you never know when the next one falls down. Looking forward to see more of the remaining Schneider guns out there.

Those area's would be great history lessons. In a way, it's a pitty they can't be restored to that error. Put in photos of how the personnel lived. Not to bring up bad memories for any people. To show how bad wars were/are and what the people went through. Teach teens life history and how hard life really was for their grandparents. Shame those old historical sites were left to rot away.

@@WW2HistoryHunter Also put in sounds from that era as well as photographs, mannequins with the old clothing, helmets etc of where the staff sat, ate, fired from etc. Maybe have running commentary through the bunkers of each area. Would be a real eye opener for so many people. History that should be taught.

In the tunnels under the fire control bunker where you wondered if there had been generators as there was soot on the ceiling, I wondered, as there was burnt wood there, if scavengers had gathered cables together and set a fire to the to burn off the worthless insulating material, so as they only had to carry the valuable metal, to wherever.
There could have been generators there yes and there must have been a ton more cables there for sure. Thanks for watching.
When you went up that last set of stairs I thought there was going to be another tower going up to a panzer turret like the other location. I wonder if all the electronics that were there were for one of the new radar systems the Germans were developing? I would love to search through all the debris to see what is under it. These adventures are getting more and more interesting.

Bunkers and underground tunnelling are everywhere especially on the still active military training sites along with war vehicles/weapons remains that are protected artifacts now. When training there in ‘91 a couple of us found undetinated booby trap at end of a bunker rear escape tunnel.

I'm really impressed as it is really enormous under the roof! Somehow I find it a shame that there is no interior period photos of the bunker to provide a better idea how the electrical boxes and the offices was placed! Anyway you both did a great job again 👍👍👍👍
