India should recognise gay marriages. It'll reduce population and individual human rights will prosper. Recognition will impact society in the beginning but things will get normalised after sometime. More and more people will come out of the closet as many of us have faced homosexuals in public washrooms and bus stands.

Its not about following any western culture. Since when did loving somebody had become a culture? Love is beyond science or moral values, social impacts. In my opinion, Happiness is a very rare kind of thing. If anyone get the chance to be happy with their respective soulmate, despite of their gender, then this is the real world, the real society one should dream for. It's not that, Each Straight couple are happy with their life choices. Infact divorce cases are increasing in India day by day. It's about being happy, being secured, being loved with your partner. And every damn single person deserve it. Otherwise "Homophobia", the term is used for "Diseased" mentality, for a reason. And these kind people are real dangerous not that particular who is just minding their own business.

Homophobia is natural. Those who take part in same sex intercourse deserve to be executed.

I think it should be allowed. There's nothing wrong with that.
Russia-Ukraine war hua aur jab humare students waha fase hue the tab sarkar ye bolti thi ki humare students bahar padhne kyu jaaye? Yaha India me hi esa mahol banate hai.
Agar hum social security na de humare hi citizens ko toh unke paas aur koi option thodi rahega. They'll have to leave the country.
And if they leave, there will be many economic losses. We might receive foreign remittance but what if we lose educated employees? Foreigners aren't gonna come and fill that gap. We need Indian youth and their faith in the country for India to not become Japan where there's no youth left. That will lead to a greater loss.
Also, if it's already proved that sexual orientation is natural then I don't see any need to debate. It's natural. We wouldn't want rape cases against men now.
There could be many instances in the future where extra-marital affairs might increase because they aren't given their rights and they're forced to marry the opposite sex. Wouldn't that spoil the life of many?
    This was the social angle.
    Now let's talk constitutionally.
We have fundamental rights in favour of every citizen. Article 14, Article 15, Article 19 and Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.
    • Article 14 of the Indian Constitution states "The State shall not deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India."
    • Article15 of the Indian Constitution says that the State shall not discriminate against any citizen on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth or any of them.
    • Article19(1)(a) of the Indian Constitution talks about the freedom of expression, which would include the expression of one's self-identified gender.
    • Article 21 of the Indian Constitution talks about the fundamental right to life and liberty.
They have fundamental rights for them too.
Hence, I agree for same-sex marriage.

The legislation must stay couple of steps ahead of the social norms. The institution of marriage itself has undergone many changes over the years. The strict rules of endogamy have changed into interfaith and inter-caste marriages. The same sex marriage must be viewed in this context of changing form of the marriage. The live in partnership is very much prevalent, the marriage would only amount to legal stamp over that arrangement.

I think more than legal recognition of same sex marriage, issue is more regarding discrimination and exclusion of same sex couples from various societal benefits be it insurance, home ownership and loans or be it simply acceptance and living with dignity. I see it difficult that parliament of India would ever pass a law to legalise same sex marriages in near future due to electoral politics. In my personal opinion it is private matter of any individual as to how one should live life and others should not be bothered by other peoples choices or acceptance. But discrimination on sexual orientation should not be done at least.

More debate is needed. rather than just following other western liberal countries, we need to look at this issue from our social and cultural perspectives too. there is a real issue to accommodate same-sex couples in our society where still inter-caste marriages are taboo. it seems more inclusive to urban tier-one cities like Mumbai, and Bangalore thing which is quite far from the stark reality of our small cities and villages.

It is getting complicated regarding of social structure. .. May today lots of people supporting LGBTQ except being part of that community or to address certain popularity. ... Actually it is serious problem , suppose today may be INDIA legalize Homosexuality marriage but it will be problematic for future generation Because they will be confuse between genders where he/she belongs (not according to discrimination) ..... At that you will find diversity of gender such as Lesbians, Gay , Transgender and Bi sexual.

Also, same sex marriage might be a newer concept, but same sex couples have existed since humanity.
They were never open in public because people don't or can't empathize with them.
They have been treated like outcasts for decades.
But now that they are recognized as citizens, all they want is their rights.
