This video was shot with a iPhone 10s, mostly with the app MoviePro and some with the Apple Photo app. The video was shot over several months so some furniture and paintings changed from shot to shot. I would get an "F" in continuity if this were a commercial project...lol.

I've just bought a 1950 Beach house in New Zealand, Super excited for the renovations, it'll be true 50s with super modern vibe like cavity sliders with no architraves, original 1950 oven and kitchen, will be a true 50s refresh with new and old. Your home is the only cohesive mcm ive seen and is superb, the change from 50s to 60s is so subtle, bravo

I love that you have kept so many of the original features of the home. So many people get rid of the beautiful original features and try to make the homes look like Pottery Barn inside. I recently bought an MCM home where I live (no where as near as lovely as yours LOL). It has last been updated in the 90s so very little MCM left in the home. The home in under renovation and I am adding back in as much MCM as possible.

The house I inherited is MCM, and my parents had gotten Danish furniture for dining & formal living in the late 70s/early 80s that goes well with the the clearstory windows and such. It's just a lot of cubic footage to try to cool down in hot New Mexico summers...
Awnings on the ground level south-facing glass doors helps. I can't afford to replace all the windows and such; winters are mild so don't rely on heating as much.
It is too much house for me though... Even though it's a little over 1100sqft!

Wow! Such an amazing house. I love the layout with the brick exterior. Also the idea of having an area where you can set it up as an art Gallery. The outside pool area is amazing, I’m not much of a pool person but it feels very relaxing. I love the mountain area around your home and how you’ve welcomed those walking their dogs providing a watering hole is you will. So beautiful. Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you for posting! I absolutely LOVE your paintings, the house, and landscape/view! I know such a place must be very expensive, and I am glad to see that you didn't get one of those cold, sterile marble palaces reminiscent of a 1980's shopping mall with a Sears on one end and a Dillards on the other. The view of your home from every angle indicates your great eye for design. You two must be very happy there! I'm always working on my little place, which is an amoeba in comparison, but even small condos can incorporate some of what you've done with your place - and I am always working on mine. You guys are so lucky!!! I have just acquired a true 50’s contemporary and I am so happy. We have to renovate mostly everything in the house, but not do it all ourselves. There is just under half an acre of trees and azalea bushes to view from the floor to ceiling windows. I watched your video on how to create a studio in order to get some ideas for mine. Wow! How we think alike, I have those same wheels on the heavy cabinets, too. Thanks for your ideas.

Super stylish and so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. We have a mid century beach side home in sunny South Australia and have retained many original features and have authentic furniture etc . Friends and family urged us to update and get rid of the "old fashioned and dated" furnishings! Now the pieces are highly prized and very collectible. Your Art work is stunning and your home is fabulous.

Chase thanks for sharing your home with us. Kudos to you and your partner for finding and saving this mid-century gem. Love your art and the added artists throughout your abode. Yes it has that relaxed gallery look. I really like the low maintenance xeriscaping plus landscaping. My only disagreement with you would have been in maintaining the original redwood accents, trim and screens on the house with a clear or wood stain. I'm not fond of gray. I'll defer to your taste and desires yet I would seek to restore it to its original glory and intent. I would suppose it is difficult to maintain natural redwood in the sunny dry climate of Santa Monica. Here in TX we have pine borers and termites plus a lot of moisture (algae) which is a distinct hazard to most wood.
It is funny you mention the panelling ..... I was thinking about it recently and had regrets that we didn't restore it. Back then I didn't realize how to do that so we painted over. I should mention to the new owners that there is walnut veneer under some of the the painted walls. In hindsight I agree with you.
You let those owners know that if they ever want to sell the place give me a call it will be my retirement home .😊👍❤️
