  • Mid-century modern homes always capture well, and this home is no exception. Landscape designer Marlene Breene, with the help of friends and family, remodeled a 1950's mid-century modern home by the architect Edward Fickett.
An unsung hero of California architecture, Fickett designed tens of thousands of homes throughout California and worldwide.
In this film we explore the home in multiple lighting situations to photographically experience the dynamic transitions of lighting.

Wow! I was raised in San Pedro and never knew about these Edward Fickett designed homes until a few years ago. I was astonished about their design and loved the houses in that neighborhood that remained true to the MidMod design!!! 😁

All of the windows, especially under the v frame and eves and the natural light it lets in is something to envy.

That's the Miraleste Pines Tract. My Parents looked at them when they were brand new. It wasn't for them they preferred more traditional style homes. I went to school a lot of kids that lived in that tract. My Sister even had a best friend that lived there. I liked the Nieghborhood it felt so different from the older Nieghborhoods I lived in.

Wow, San Pedro! Always loved that area, just bummed about the homeless situation. But that's all of LA, I suppose..

I know of another house in Northern California that looks identical to this house. I bet it was designed by the same architect.

GracieM the one near me is not in the greatest shape. I wish I had the funds to bring it back to its glory days. I do see them in the Bay Area but not many in the Central Valley where I live, about 1.5 hr from Bay Area.

@GracieM - home prices have only gone up in the Northern part of the Bay Area because of Covid. A lot of cash purchases or 20% down with extremely low interest rates. More demand than supply right now and competitive buyers have a lot money to spend on real estate.

Thanks for the video I love your guys channel! If you ever looking for homes to shoot my brother has a very cool 100 year old house that is modern that overlooks San Francisco and my parents have a very traditional house in Toronto with a 60s Poolhouse that has been redone to be modern they also have a private island cottage I’m sure if you ever wanted to film them they would be open to it
