    Boy, I know what's involved in having so many birds. (32), including Lovebirds, Parrotlets, budgies, Conure, Senegal. Includes 6 baby Parrotlets. 4 being hand feed at once EVERY two hours, to start. Then little further apart as they grow. It's a job & a half. (but worth while). Been doing this since 2000. Things have settled, lost some seniors. Just lost Charlie, he was 16 year old budgie. Mica, a lovebird was 23. Passed one year ago on September 18, 2020. He was so cool. Anyway, we love our birds. The Mrs calls Emma (Conure) my mistress. 🤣😂🤣. Today we have 17 birds. 2 disabled doves. Several seniors. Tilley (Micas mate) is 21 now. Sun, a budgie is 15. All birds are so special 😅. Give them your time, it's well worth it. Better than people, sadly.

    Getting a bird to come to you outside,with all the different attractions,is completely different to inside where they know where everything is.Mine used to come to me from anywhere in the house,one of the kids left a window slightly open and he was gone.Saw him for a few days in the area,not a sign of coming to me.Never saw him again.

    Your babies are doing great! So cute! Yes, I would love to see some individual videos on training these 10 tasks. Honestly, I really need some pre-trick videos on how to prepare your bird for training. My questions are; Do you make sure your bird is hungry b4 training? For parakeet owners, how do you teach your bird to go on and stay on the perch? What is the best or worst times to try training. Can you train an old bird new tricks. What if you buy a bird that is not hand raised and it takes months to get him to trust you. What is the best way to communicate to him that you now want him to do something 4 you? Are some breeds types easier to train than others? Is there a type of bird that you would reccomend for newbie bird trainers? Hand positioning when holding clicker treat and stick ect...Tjere are alot of videos out on traing tricks or teaching trust, just nothing on setting up your bird, yourself and your environment for a successful training session. Thanks 4 all you do!

    Kingsley and Marbles look great. It's amazing how well they have both come along in the short time they have been with you. My guess is because they are young that you can teach them all these 10 things. I have 4 budgies that I got when they were already 5 years old and still to this day, they are very scared of me; or maybe, budgies really aren't that trainable, I don't know, but I still enjoy your videos. Yes, please make a video on teaching to wave, along with the other steps you suggested.

    Hi! I've just gotten a 4 month old mustache parakeet a week ago. He is still very unsure of me but I feel training could be good bonding. I have a 18 year old cockatiel, but he was never very hand tame, so this is newer to me, especially with a baby!
    What rewards are you using primarily for training? I'm sure this varies for different birds, but a step in the right direction would be helpful. My baby came clipped, but I planned to have him flighted. Would this be best maybe later on in bonding? I feel like clipped, he would rely more on me for the time being? I'd love some insight or thoughts!

    Hello! I have a question for anyone that can answer. I want a bird and I have done research on both cockatiels and budgies (parakeets). My parents may allow me to get two birds so they can keep each other company when I’m at school. Is it possible to have a budgie and a cockatiel in the same cage? Or would it be easier to keep them in separate cages? Should I just get two of the same bird? One cage would be cheaper, but I don’t want to just stick them both in the same cage on the first day. How would I go about having both but only one cage? Is another cage necessary? I would love for some feedback from anyone! :)

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, always house a Cockatiel and budgie separate. They can come out together but will need their own space. Budgies are pesky and will bother the Cockatiel until the Cockatiel gets mad and bites the budgie. Two budgies are best to have as they can interact with each other. They will preen each other and fly and okay together. You can get two from the same place and that way you don't need to quarentine each of them. If you get them from the same place they may be related to each other so it's best to get two males. Females fight with each other.

      Hi, I work most days but I do work from home and can go interact with my birds during lunch. If you can spend time before work that would be good. Many people work and have parrots so it may be okay. Give lots of shredding toys and soft wood to chew on during the day as they really like to chew to keep them busy.

    Hi, in yesterday's video you referred me back to this video for the "wave". But it still doesn't show me what I need for Jake to learn this. He knows so many things/ tricks and flight things, i can even ask him "what is your name" and he will answer everytime "Jake" that took a bit for him to learn that, problem with the wave is he usually jumps with both feet, I'm guessing most parrots are taught the wave by first kinda using the step up, which he knows very well, he rarely uses one foot , so how can I get him to understand this? I use cicker cuz that's kinda the universal language that lets him know he is doing it correctly. Any suggestions for me, I still can't believe, considering the wave is so easiy taught , why he doesn't get it and he is pointer trained too? I must be doing something wrong🤔🤔🤔🤔Thanx so much, he even know "station" meaning to stay where he is until I give the cue to come to me♥️♥️♥️♥️

    • @Loveofpets
      @Loveofpets  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I may a separate video on the wave. You can capture the moment your bird lifts it's foot and click or say good or yes or what ever word you would like to use then give a treat. Repeat this and start using the word wave and use a hand signal.
      You can put your hand close to him like you would a step up and as soon as he moves his foot reward him but this is harder to do if he jumps on you right away.
